Elongation of Contact Length on the Line of Action in Roll Forming of Gears

  • The elongation of contact length on the line of action is considered with particular reference for roll forming of gears, and for dynamic behavior of the tooth in meshing. However there is no paper that discuss the elongation of contact length in the load meshing of gears. Based on our investigation, the contact length on the line of action elongates more than the kinematically calculated value. In rolling, as the tool approaches the workpiece, the center distance of the gears decreases by a small amount. But, the elongation of contact length is sensitive. Therefore, the contact point on the line of action is difficult to be determined, which complicates the tooth analysis. In this study, the exact relation between the elongation of contact length and the tooth space over the recess or before the approach are revealed by experiments and kinematic theory. This analytical result applies not only for rolling, but also for the single flank meshing which is done under constant center distance.

  • So far,in deep drilling process there are several manufacturing problems such as hole deviation, hole over size, circularity,straightness and surface roughness. Whit regard to these problems, we atudied the abrasion process on carbided tip of BTA drill and got the follow test results through the abrasion characteristic test and analysis on cutting mechanism for the drill tooth and guide pad. 1) In SM55C drilling process, the most stable and reasonable drilling speed range for optmum abrasion characteristic of drill tooth was 60m.min. 2) The total drilling torque was about 60kg .deg.cm on condition drilling speed 60m/min and 0.15mm/rev. These results show that the theoretical burnising torque is well accord with the tested torque which is working on guide pad.

  • 사용후연료 저장과 관련된 규정 중 구조에 대한 예상운전사고 및 설계기준사고의 구조 안전성이 보장되도록 설계하여야 한다. 이러한 구조 평가항목으로서 낙하, 전복, 폭풍, 홍수 및 지진으로 인한 사고에 대하여 하중조건과 구조적 개념평가 방법을 제시하고, 콘크리트 저장시스템에 대한 예비 구조안전성 해석을 수행하였다.

  • Continuously contacting with camshaft the face of Valve Lifter made of cast iron brings about abnormal wear such as unfairwear or earlywear because it is heavily loaded in the valve train systems as the engine gets more powered. This abnormal wear becomes a defet namely over-clearance when the valve is lifting so that the fuel gas imperfectly combusted by unsuitable open or close aaction of the engine valve in the combustion chamber. The imperfect combustion in the end results in the major cause of air pollution and combustion chamber. Consequently to prevent this wear this study was to develop the valve lifter which is joined by brazing process with SCM435H and a tip by manufacturing the face as a superhardened which is joined by brazing process with SCM435H and a tip by manufacturing the face as a superhardened ceramics alloy which has high wear resistance. Having the excellent surface hardness with Hv1100-1200 the sintered body developed with superhardened alloy(WC) can endure the severe face loading in the valve train system. We experienced with various brazing alloys and obtained the excellent joining strength to the joint had 150MPa shear strength. Interface analysis and microstructure in a joint were examined through SEM & EDS Optical microscope. Also 2,500 hours high speed(3,000-4,000 rpm) and continuous (1step 12hr) engine dynamo testing was carried out to casting valve liter and ceramics-metal joint valve lifter so that the abnormal wears were compared and evaluated.

Analytical and experimental investigation of stepped piezoelectric energy harvester

  • Conventional Piezoelectric Energy Harvesters (CPEH) have been extensively studied for maximizing their electrical output through material selection, geometric and structural optimization, and adoption of efficient interface circuits. In this paper, the performance of Stepped Piezoelectric Energy Harvester (SPEH) under harmonic base excitation is studied analytically, numerically and experimentally. The motivation is to compare the energy harvesting performance of CPEH and SPEHs with the same characteristics (resonant frequency). The results of this study challenge the notion of achieving higher voltage and power output through incorporation of geometric discontinuities such as step sections in the harvester beams. A CPEH consists of substrate material with a patch of piezoelectric material bonded over it and a tip mass at the free end to tune the resonant frequency. A SPEH is designed by introducing a step section near the root of substrate beam to induce higher dynamic strain for maximizing the electrical output. The incorporation of step section reduces the stiffness and consequently, a lower tip mass is used with SPEH to match the resonant frequency to that of CPEH. Moreover, the electromechanical coupling coefficient, forcing function and damping are significantly influenced because of the inclusion of step section, which consequently affects harvester's output. Three different configurations of SPEHs characterized by the same resonant frequency as that of CPEH are designed and analyzed using linear electromechanical model and their performances are compared. The variation of strain on the harvester beams is obtained using finite element analysis. The prototypes of CPEH and SPEHs are fabricated and experimentally tested. It is shown that the power output from SPEHs is lower than the CPEH. When the prototypes with resonant frequencies in the range of 56-56.5 Hz are tested at 1 m/s2, three SPEHs generate power output of 482 μW, 424 μW and 228 μW when compared with 674 μW from CPEH. It is concluded that the advantage of increasing dynamic strain using step section is negated by increase in damping and decrease in forcing function. However, SPEHs show slightly better performance in terms of specific power and thus making them suitable for practical scenarios where the ratio of power to system mass is critical.

  • 중첩격자를 이용한 3차원 압축성 Navier-Stokes 코드를 사용하여 정지비행 로터 주위의 유동장을 해석하였다. 후류격자의 간격, 수치기법의 정확도, 난류 모델 등에 따른 유동코드의 수치특성을 확인하였다. 두 가지 형태의 중첩격자 시스템을 사용하여 계산을 수행하였다. 공력 및 끝단 와류의 거동을 Caradonna 등의 실험과 비교하였다. 표면 압력분포 및 끝단 와류의 거동은 실험값과 잘 일치하였다. 적용한 수치해석 기법에 따라 압력분포는 거의 변화가 없는 반면, 후류의 거동은 상당히 큰 편차를 보였다. 자동화된 Cut-paste 알고리즘을 사용한 Chimera 기법을 사용했을 때의 결과는 예상과 달리 기존의 Chimera 기법을 사용하였을 때보다 더 약한 와류 강도를 보였다.

86,000톤 원유운반선 프로펠러 날개의 singing(명음) 발생위치 조사 (A Study on the Propeller Blade Singing Place of an 86,000 Ton Deadweight Crude Oil Tanker)

  • 본 연구에서는 86,000톤 원유운반선의 프로펠러 날개에서 발생한 singing 현상에 대하여 발생 가능 위치를 조사함으로써 차후 유사문제 발생실 효과적인 방음대책 수립이 가능케 하였다. 조사과정에서는 진동해석과 가진시험으로부터 얻은 프로펠러의 공기중 진동특성을 비교한 후 해석에 의한 접수진동 특성에서 실제 문제 발생가능 모드를 추출하여 실선 계측결과와 비교하였다. 해석결과에 의하면 반경의 95%(0.95R)이상의 날개 끝 뒷날 부분에서 singing이 발생되었을 가능성이 높았으며 방음대책으로 적용된 날개 끝 연삭가공량에 따른 날개의 고유진동수 변화는 거의 없었다.

신규 익형 KA2가 적용된 풍력 블레이드의 공력 하중에 대한 동특성 해석 (Analysis of the Dynamic Characteristics on Aerodynamic Loads of Wind Turbine Blade with New Airfoil KA2)

  • This paper proposes a novel airfoil named "KA2" for the blade of the wind turbine systems. Dynamic loads characteristics are analyzed and compared using aerodynamic data of ten airfoils including the proposed airfoil. The blade is divided into the sixteen elements in the longitudinal direction of the blade for applying the Blade Element Method Theory (BEMT) method, and in each element, torque, thrust, and pitching moment are calculated using turbulent time varying wind speed and aerodynamic data of each wing. Additionally, each force and torque is accumulated in the whole region of the blade for the estimation of representative values. The magnitude of such forces is comparatively analyzed for different airfoils. The angle of attack is constant below the rated wind speed due to the fact that the tip speed ratio is kept at the constant value, and it increases in the region of over rated wind speed as the tip speed ratio decreasing with constant rated rpm and increasing wind speed. Such increase in the angle of attack causes the changes of the force acting on the airfoil with different characteristics of lift and drag in the stall region of each different airfoil. Even though the mean wind speed is in the rated speed in a given time, because of the turbulence, it has either the over rated or under rated speed most of the time. Furthermore, the dynamic properties of each force are analyzed in this rated wind speed in order to objectively understand the dynamic properties of the blades which are designed based on the different airfoils. These dynamic properties are also compared by the standard deviation of time varying characteristics. Moreover, the output characteristics of the wind turbine are investigated with different airfoils and wind speeds. Based on these investigations, it was revealed that the proposed airfoil (KA2) is well applicable to the blade with passive pitch control system.

초박형 노트북 냉각 터보팬의 유동 및 소음 분석 (Anallysis of the flow and noise characteristics of small turbo fan in a ultra slim note PC)

  • In recent years, a notebook like an ultrabook gets thinner. Its thickness causes problems in cooling fan performance, system installation condition, and so on. In this study, we installed a small turbofan in notebook system with very narrow gap in order to generate similar condition to a real product. Experiments were performed to measure the fan's performance and the flow and noise characteristics, its results were compared with computational ones. Prediction of P-Q curve using CFD showed under about 5% error in high flow rate and its trend was agreed with experimental one over the flow field. Experimental data to measure the noise at a distance of 100 mm from a rotation axis direction of an impeller corresponded well with computational ones of broadband and BPF noise. 마찰구동형 액추에이터의 동특성 모델 및 거동 해석 (Modeling and Analysis of a Friction Drive Type Precise Actuator)

  • In this work, a precies actuator which is capable of high positioning accuracy is developed. For estimation the dynamic behavior of the actuator, system modeling is performed by employing a stick-slip frection law. Dynamic characteristics over various types of driving input signals and vibraiton loci of the driving tip are examined by experiments. Phase differences between the input signals are applied, and the dynamic behavior of slider is investigated. From the simulation and experimental results, it is observed that the dynamic behaviors from the simulation results agree fairly well to those of the experimental results. Thisindicates that the model developed in this work is applicable to other precision mechanisms in which a friction farce is as improtant factor for actuation.
