A Study on Dispersion Behaviors of Fume Particles in Laser Cutting Process of Optical Plastic Thin Films

  • The optoelectronic display units such as TFT-LCD or OLED require many thin optical plastic films and their mass manufacturing processes employ CO2 laser cutting of those thin films in a large quantity. However, laser film cutting could generate fume particles through melt shearing, vaporization, and chemical degradation and those particles could be of great concern for film surface contamination. In order to appreciate the fume particle dispersion behaviors in laser film cutting, this study relies on random particle simulations by probabilistic distributions of particle size, ejection velocity and angles coupled with Basset-Boussinesq-Oseen model of particle trajectory in low Reynolds number flows. Here, up to one million particles of random sampling have been tested to effectively show fume particles dispersed on the film surface. The computational results could show that particular range of fume particle size could easily disperse into the pixel region of processed optical films.

  • Today, the ceramic transformer becomes widely used for the TFT LCD backlight inverter system thanks to its high efficiency and small size. In this paper, a high efficient inverter system for cold cathode flourescent lamp (CCFL) including PLL controller for tuning the PWM frequency to the frequency that the efficiency of the inverter system becomes maximum is proposed. The control IC implementing this feature will be released by Interpion Co. Ltd. in May 2002.

  • In the viewing-angle image control (VIC) technology, one pixel is made up of a quad pixel structure which is consisting of R, G, B, and electrically control briefringence (ECB) sub-pixels. Two types of test stimuli were used; text & complex image respectively. The limitations of those methods were found from the experiment. From the results the advanced GC technology was proposed.

  • The contrast ratio, brightness, and uniformity of S-IPS panel, whose alignment process was employed by ion-beam-alignment (IBA) technology, were improved significantly compared with the convention rubbing's panel, because the light leakage has been reduced in dark state effectively. The IBA technology could generate a panel whose pretilt angle was stable and low after post-treatment process.

  • In this paper, we propose a mixed driving circuit for the source driver of QVGA-scale TFT-LCD driver IC to reduce the area of the source driver. In the mixed driving circuit, graphic data pass or go through the mixed channel driver whether RGB data are the same or not. The mixed driving circuit has been designed in transistor level using the 0.35um CMOS technology and has been verified using Hspice.

  • In this paper, we demonstrate the deformation of TFT-LCD panel using numerical analysis based on the finite element method. To make better uniform cell gap and less stress at a photo-definable spacer (spacer), we have investigated process and design factors such as amount of liquid crystal (LC), spacer density, area, height, and material property. Furthermore we optimized design factors and achieved the robust design through the simulation.

  • The size of TV and TFT-LCD are bigger and bigger for the next generation exposure equipment install that existing fab are getting a lot of additions. When the new fab build an extension that the shortening of the construction and non-vibration are use cast in place concrete pile method. In this study when lay the foundation of existing fab adjoin use vibration monitoring system are rotator type all casing method among cast in place concrete pile method. The evaluation of ground vibration of rotator type all casing method effect to precision equipment and vibration area of influence.

  • VIATRON TECHNOLOGIES has developed FE-RTP system that enables LTPS LCD and AMOLED manufacturers to produce poly-Si films at low cost, high throughput, and high yield. The system employs sequential heat treatment methods using temperature control and rapid thermal processor modules. The temperature control modules provide exceptionally uniform heating and cooling of the glass substrates to within ${\pm}2^a\;C$. The rapid thermal process that combines heating with field induction accelerates the treatment rates. The new FE-RTP system can process $730{\times}920mm$ glass substrates as thin as 0.4 mm. The uniform nature of poly-Si films produced by FE-RTP resulted in AMOLED panels with no laser-Muras. Furthermore, FE-RTP system also showed superior performances in other heat treatment processes involved in poly-Si TFT fabrications, such as dopant activation, gate oxide densification, hydrogenation, and pre-compaction.

  • A lot of research for system-on-panel(SOP) have been done to integrate display systems including data driver, gate driver, timing controller, DC-DC converter, and smart functions such as embedded touch screen, ambient brightness sensing and luminance control, finger printing on the glass. Recently, the cost of an one-chip driver IC with various functions has decreased rapidly, and new mobile display interface technologies have been introduced. So it is necessary to examine the feasibility of SOP for practical mobile applications. In this paper, we will re-examine LTPS technologies for mobile displays in terms of various aspects and discuss the practical limitations on SOP technology and future technology trend of mobile displays.

  • LCD, OLED 등의 평판디스플레이와 RFID tag, smart card 등의 구동 소자 등 넓은 산업 분야에 적용하기 위하여 PVP 유기물과 병합된 ZnO 산화물을 이용하여 차세대 박막트랜지스터의 제작 공정과 전기적 특성을 조사하였다. 또한 제작된 박막트랜지스터의 전기적 특성을 향상시키기 위하여 유, 무기 박막의 특성을 분석하고, $O_2$ plasma 처리를 통하여 유-무기 박막간 계면 접합력 및 계면 효과의 변화특성이 OITFT 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다.
