Temperature Dependence Characteristics of Double Cylindrical Type Ozonizer Using Spiral Type Internal Electrode (나선형 내부전극을 사용한 2중 원통형 오존발생기의 온도의존특성)

  • In this paper, double Cylindrical type ozonizer has been designed and manufactured to improve ozone yield by cooling external electrode. The ozonizer equipped with three electrodes ( central, internal and external electrodes ). Discharge and ozone characteristics are described in this paper by varying the flow rate( Q ) of oxygen supplied gas, temperature of cooling gas and supplied voltage.

Isolation of Cryptococcus neoformans var. grubii(serotype A) from Pigeon Droppings in Korea

  • Three hundred and sixty five samples of avian droppings, collected from parks and zoo, were investigated for the occurrence of Cryptococcus neoformans in Korea. Thirteen samples were positive for C. neoformans. All isolates were obtained from withered pigeon droppings. Identification and serotyping of isolates were determined by means of serological test and polymerase chain reaction(PCR) fingerprinting. All isolates belonged to C. neoformans var. grubbi(serotype A).

  • The object of this experimental study is to understand the bond performance and the shear behavior of concrete mixed with hwang-toh and blast-furnace slag. Main variables were the compressive strength according to replacement level of hwang-toh and blast-furnace slag. The results revealed that up to 20$\%$ of Hwang-toh the bond and the shear strength were improved.

  • This paper reports the results of experimental study on the effects of replacement level of hwangtoh or slag on the flexural behavior of reinforced hwangtoh-concrete beams. All the beams were singly reinforced with longitudinal bar ratio p=0.5pb and were tested under two-point top loading. The flexural strengths obtained from tests, such as initial cracking strength, serviceability strength, maximum strength, were compared with ACI 318-02.

Reproductive System of Giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis)

  • Two postmortem male and female reticulated giraffes were examined. The adult male giraffe showed sigmoid flexure of penis similar to most ungulates. Epididymis was well-developed and divided with head, body and tail parts. On the tip of penis, there was a urethral process. At the necropsy of a 20-month-old and nulliparous giraffe, ovaries, oviducts, two uterine horns with a septum and a cervix were distinctively shown. Understanding reproductive organs of giraffes would be beneficial to succeed in artificial breeding on this species especially in the difficult situation of importing hoofed animals.

  • The reaction of primary aromatic amines with 1,7-heptanediol in the presence of a catalytic amount of ruthenium complex in dioxane at $180^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours gave the corresponding 1-substituted perhydroazocines in moderate yield.

  • Recently, many researches are being carried out on monitoring animal behaviour and interactions with the environment using sensor networks and for tracing animal chain management and identifying animals using RFID techniques. And we are studying about the management and burglarproof of a pet using GPS technique. But there is a lack of study for providing users intelligence services in zoo using GPS, RFID, and sensor networks. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose a intelligence tracking service of animal situation based on GPS, RFID, and sensor in zoo. Firstly, we present a tracking service scenario of animal situation and system configuration according to this scenario. The proposed service provides users realtime animal situation information of animal like the present location, temperature, image, etc. In addition, we can chase the animals to know a location and situation of animal when the animals escapes from their cages. Next, we implement and test prototype operations of animal tracking system based on this scenario to verify the proposed service.
