부평은연광산(富平銀鉛鑛山)의 지질(地質)과 광상(鑛床) (Geology and Ore Deposits of Bupyong Lead-Silver Mine)

  • Bupyong lead-silver mine is located at outskirt of Inchon, a harbor city on the Yellow Sea about 40 km due west of Seoul. The geology of the area is composed of gneisses of pre-Cambrian age, rhyolite of Jurassic to Cretaceous age which extruded over the gneisses and late Cretaceous granite. Small diabasic dike is observed only in the underground. The contact plane between overlying rhyolite and underlain gneiss is sinuous and generally pitches about $30^{\circ}{\sim}40^{\circ}$ toward east. Conjugate joints and fissures are well developed in the rhyolite striking generally north-southward. Three ore bodies are being exploited and three more are under prospecting. These ore bodies range from few tons of hundred thousand to million tons in reserve. These ore bodies occur exclusively in the rhyolite along joints as network and/or desseminated type. The lower limit of ore bodies is always delineated at about 20~30m above the gneiss which might be indicative of ore genesis that has not been clearly explained so far. Two hypothesis on ore genesis could, however, be considered: firstly lithologic difference in the rhyolite might be a manifestation of different flows along which ore solution ascended and replaced along joints; secondly diabasic dike has acted as ore bringer since the dike contains considerable amount of silver, lead and zine. Ore minerals are galena and native silver accompanied by pyrite, argentite, pyragyrite and magnetite. It is believed that pyritization took place in advance to main mineralization, and ore deposit is classified as meso- to epi-thermal type.

만경강 담수어중 중금속 함량에 관한 연구 (A study on the Heavy Metal Contents in Freshwater Fishes of the Mankyung River)

  • This study was performed to investigate the heavy metal contents of freshwater fishes. The samples of 24 species were collected at 7 areas located on the Mankyung River during September in 1987. And then the contents of lead, cadmium, copper and zine were analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The results were summarized as follows ; 1. The mean value of lead, cadmium, and copper contents of fishes collected in the downstream were significantly higher than those of upstream. 2. The mean lead content of C. auratus was the highest $1.50{\pm}0.98{\mu}g/g$ in viscera and statistically significant difference from muscle content. 3. The mean cadmium content of C. auratus was the highest $0.087{\pm}0.054{\mu}g/g$ in viscera and significantly higher than that of muscle. 4. In the copper contents, the viscera of C. auratus was the highest $5.25{\pm}0.94{\mu}g/g$ and significantly higher than that of muscle, skeleton and gill. 5. The mean value of zinc content of C. auratus was shown the order of gill, skeleton, viscera and muscle.

MOCVD법으로 성장시킨 InGaAs 내에서 Zinc의 확산특성 (Zinc Diffusion in InGaAs grown by MOCVD)

  • InP 기판위에 InP와 격자정합된 undoped-InGaAs에서 zine의 확산 특성을 Electrochemical Capacitance-Voltage 법(polaron)과 Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry(SIMS)로 조사하였다. Metallorganic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD)를 이용하여 undoped-InGaAs 층을 성장시켰으며 확산방법으로는 Zn3P2 확산원 박막과 Rapid Thermal Annealing (RTA)를 이용하였다. 450-55$0^{\circ}C$온도범위에서 30-300초 동안 확산을 수행한 결과 zinc의 확산계수는 D=Doexp(-$\Delta$E/kT)의 특성을 만족하였으며, Do와 $\Delta$E는 각각 1.3x105$\textrm{cm}^2$/sec와 2.3eV였다. 얻어진 확산계수는 다른 확산방법을 이용한 값들에 비해 매우 큰 값인데, 이것은 RTA 처리시 빠른 온도 증가에 의한 확산원 박막, 보호막, 그리고 InGaAs 에피층이 가지는 열팽창계수의 차이로인한 응력의 효과에 의한 것으로 생각되며, 이를 sealed-ampoule 법을 사용한 경우의 확산특성과 비교를 통하여 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 인터넷 경쟁 시대에 들어선 지금, 젊은 계층을 겨냥한 실험적 잡지들 또한 인터넷 잡지로의 전환을 시도하고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 시점에서 실험적 잡지의 인터넷 잡지로의 전환시 고려해야 할 컨텐츠의 구성과 시각적인 표현 방법에 대해 연구하고자 한 것이다. 따라서 인쇄잡지와 인터넷 잡지가 동시에 존재하는 티티엘과 페이퍼, 그리고 웹진 스폰지를 내용, 타이포그라피, 컬러, 사진ㆍ일러스트, 기타 등으로 나누어 분석해 보고 그 결과를 적용하여 앞으로 인터넷 잡지가 어떤 컨텐츠 구성과 시각적인 표현 방법으로 발전해 나가야 할 것인지 그 방법을 제시하고자 한다.

알코올 투여와 아연과 구리의 섭취비율 증가가 흰쥐의 혈청지질함량에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of the Ethanol Feeding and Increase in the Raion of Zine to Copper Ingested on Serum Lipid Control in the Rats)

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of increase in the ratio of zinc to copper and alcohol consumption on serum lipid content in Sprague-Dawley male rats during five weeks. Sixty rats were divided into six groups, CZ < zinc 30ppm diet >, CZA < zinc 30 ppm diet plus alcohol 5% solution >, HZ < zinc 300ppm diet >, HZA < zinc 300ppm diet plus alcohol 5% solution >, SHZ < zinc 600ppm diet >, SHZA < zinc 600 ppm diet plus alcohol 5% solution >. High ratio of zinc to copper groups < HZ, SHZ > were significantly decreased in high-density lipoprotein (p<0.01) and increased in total cholesterol, triglyceride, total lipid in serum(p<0.001, p<0.001, p<0.01). Triglyceride levels of serum in alcohol groups < CZA, HZA, SHZA > were significantly higher (p<0.001) than non-alcohol group < CCZ, HZ, SHZ >. Copper levels of serum were reduced in group high ratio of zinc to copper. These results present that high ratio of zinc to copper increase cholesterol(p<0.001) and alcohol consumption increase triglyceride(p<0.001) in serum. This close association to lipid metabolism in rats draw attention to the potential significance of zinc and alcohol nutriture in relation to cardiovascular disease.

Effects of glass powder on the characteristics of concrete subjected to high temperatures

  • This paper presents an experimental investigation on the performance of concrete with and without glass powder (GP) subjected to elevated temperatures. Mechanical and physicochemical properties of concretes were studied at both ambient and high temperatures. One of the major environmental concerns is disposal or recycling of the waste materials. However, a high volume of the industrial production has generated a considerable amount of waste materials which have a number of adverse impacts on the environment. Further, use of glass or by-products in concrete production has advantages for improving some or all of the concrete properties. The economic incentives and environmental benefits in terms of reduced carbon footprint are also the reason for using wastes in concrete. The occurrence of spalling, compressive strength, mass loss, chemical composition, crystalline phase, and thermal analysis of CPG before and after exposure to various temperatures (20, 200, 400, and $600^{\circ}C$) were comprehensively investigated. The results indicated that, the critical temperature range of CPG was between $400^{\circ}C$ and $600^{\circ}C$.

인삼성분 및 제제의 생체막 보호 효과에 대한 연구 (Preliminary Investigation of Membrane Modifying Effects of Ginseng Components)

  • 인삼추출물(95%, 50% 에탄올 및 수침액) ginsenoside Re 및 ginsana G115를 공식약물로 해서 thioacetamide로 intoxication 시킨 동물에 대한 in vitro, in vivo test를 통해 예방적 효과 및 치료적인 효과에 대해서 실험하였다. 항산화작용에 있어서 ginsenoside Re, 수침액, Ginsana C 115가 통계적으로 유효하였으며 zine sulfate turbidity test에서는 95% 에탄올 추출물과 ginsenoside Re가, GOT에 대해서는 Ginsana G 115, GPT에 대해서는 ginsenoside Re가 통계적인 유효성을 나타냈다. Venom toxin과 compound 48/80에 의한 mast cell의 탈과립현상에 대한 방어시험에서 50% 에탄올 추출물, 수침물, 95% 에탄올 추출물 및 Ginsana G 115가 유효하였다.

수유부의 아연 분비량을 모유 영양아의 아연 섭취량에 관한 연구 (A Longitudinal Study on Zinc Secretion of Lactating Women and Zinc Intake of Breast-fed Infants)

  • In order to investigate the longitudinal changes on zinc secretion of lactating women and zinc intake of breast-fed infants, we examined 20 lactating women(10 primipare and 10 multipare) and their infants during the first 90 days postpartum. We measured the consumed volume of human milk by test-weighing method and zinc concentration by atomic absorption spectophotometry after wet digestion. Weight gain of infants was -5.7, 54.1, 46.3, 42.0 and 32.3g/day at 7, 15, 30, 60 and 90 days postpartum, respectively. The secretion volume of human milk was 527, 608, 724, 841 and 798g/day respectively. The consumed volume of human milk of breast-fed infants was 432, 503, 603, 715 and 715g/day. The intake level of breast milk to secretion volume reached 85.0% in average. The zinc concentration of the milk was 4.29, 3.32, 2.52, 1.62 and 1.18mg/l, and the zinc intake of breast-fed infants was 1.80, 1.69, 1.45, 1.15 and 0.70mg/day. Zine intake per body weight of infants averaged 0.32mg/kg/day during the first 90 days postpartum. The average zinc intake of breast-fed infants was 1.36mg/day, which is 27.2% of the recommended daily allowance for 0-4-month-old infants.

Time and Newsweek's Coverage of the Arab Uprisings in 2011: A Content Analysis Survey

  • The popular uprisings that took place in the Arab world, and led to the overthrow of four heads of states, namely Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali (January 14, 2011) of Tunisia, Hosni Mubarak (February 11, 2011) of Egypt, Muammar al-Gaddafi (August 23, 2011) of Libya and Ali Abdullah Saleh (November 23, 2011) of Yemen, have attracted the attention of the world media and policy makers in the West and the Middle East, and triggered their concern for the political future of the region. This article does not offer a comprehensive assessment of these uprisings, but rather analyzes the coverage of Time and Newsweek of the underlying causes of the uprisings and their anticipated consequences. It also investigates how the two magazines have highlighted the scenarios that may pose a real challenge to Arab regimes supported by the American administration, and internationally reshape the priorities of American foreign policy in the region. These issues are examined from the two magazines' perspectives, which under line the features of U.S. foreign policy in the region, where the White House is more concerned about the security of the state of Israel, control of the Arab oil and suppression of "Muslim fundamentalism."

Identifiaction and Molecular Size of Zine-Binding Ligands in Pancreatic/Biliary Fluid of Rats

  • the exocrine pancreatic secretion is an important factor in the maintenance of zinc homeostasis. The daily pancreatic secretion of zinc into the gastrointestinal tract may be two or more times the daily dietary zinc intake. The objective of this study was to examine the distribution of proteins and zinc in pancreatic/biliary fluid following intraperitoneal {TEX}${65}^Zn${/TEX} injection into dietary prepared Sprague-Dawly rats. Distribution of zinc-binding protein in Sephadex G-75 subfractions showed a peak corresponding to the high molecular weight protein standard(<66kDa) in the pancreatic/biliary fluid. Zinc also was associated with the 29~35kDa mole-cular weight proteins. These are similar in size with zinc-containing enzymes, carboxypeptidase A and car-boxypeptidase B. A more remarkable small molecular weight fraction eluted beyond the 6.5kDa standard pro-tein peak. These results show the presence of small molecular weight compound in pancreatic/biliary fluid associated with zinc . These small molecular weight compounds may serve as zinc-binding ligands for the secretion of enogenous zinc into the duodenum. These findings suggest that these lignads may dissociate zinc in the duodenum thus making it vulnerable to complexation with phytate in the upper gastrointestinal tract rendering the zinc unavailable for reabsorption.
