In state-of-the-art games, characters can move in a goal-directed manner so that they can move to the goal position without colliding obstacles. Many path-finding methods have been proposed and implemented for these characters and most of them use the A* search algorithm. When .the map is represented with a regular grid of squares or a navigation mesh, it often takes a long time for the A* to search the state space because the number of cells used In the grid or the mesh increases for higher resolution. Moreover the A* search on the grid often causes a zigzag effect, which is not optimal and realistic. In this paper we propose to use visibility graphs to improve the search time by reducing the search space and to find the optimal path. We also propose a method of taking into account the size of moving characters in the phase of planning to prevent them from colliding with obstacles as they move. Simulation results show that the proposed method performs better than the grid-based A* algorithm in terms of the search time and space and that the resulting paths are more realistic.
Two isostructural new alkaline earth germanium nitrides, $Sr_6Ge_5N_2\;and\;Ba_6Ge_5N_2$, were obtained as single crystals from constituent elements in molten Na. They both crystallize in space group $P_{mmn}$ (No. 59) with a = 4.0007(8), b = 17.954(3), c = 9.089(2) $\AA$, Z = 2, and a = 4.1620(2), b = 18.841(1), c = 9.6116(5) $\AA$, Z = 2, for $Sr_6Ge_5N_2\;and\;Ba_6Ge_5N_2$, respectively. Their crystal structure contains features for both Zintl and nitride phases: zigzag anionic chain of $_{\infty}Ge^{2-}$, and dumbbell-shaped bent anion of ${GeN_2}^{4-}$. Counter cations of Sr or Ba wrap these anionic units in a channel-like arrangement. Unlike in other germanium nitrides, bond lengths of both Ge-N arms of the ${GeN_2}^{4-}$, are same in $Sr_6Ge_5N_2\;and\;Ba_6Ge_5N_2$.
Quantum low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes based on the Calderbank-Shor-Steane construction have low encoding and decoding complexity. The sum-product algorithm(SPA) can be used to decode quantum LDPC codes; however, the decoding performance may be significantly decreased by the many four-cycles required by this type of quantum codes. All four-cycles can be eliminated using the entanglement-assisted formalism with maximally entangled states (ebits). The proposed entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting code based on Euclidean geometry outperform differently structured quantum codes. However, the large number of ebits required to construct the entanglement-assisted formalism is a substantial obstacle to practical application. In this paper, we propose a novel class of entanglement-assisted quantum LDPC codes constructed using classical Euclidean geometry LDPC codes. Notably, the new codes require one copy of the ebit. Furthermore, we propose a construction scheme for a corresponding zigzag matrix and show that the algebraic structure of the codes could easily be expanded. A large class of quantum codes with various code lengths and code rates can be constructed. Our methods significantly improve the possibility of practical implementation of quantum error-correcting codes. Simulation results show that the entanglement-assisted quantum LDPC codes described in this study perform very well over a depolarizing channel with iterative decoding based on the SPA and that these codes outperform other quantum codes based on Euclidean geometries.
This paper presents the experimental results on the preliminary breakdown characteristics under a highly non-uniform electric field in $SF_6/CO_2$ gas mixtures. The impulse preliminary breakdown developments are investigated by the measurements of corona current and light emission images. As a result, the preliminary breakdown development mechanisms for both positive and negative polarities are same. The first streamer corona is initiated at the tip of needle electrode, and the leaders develop with a stepwise propagation and bridge the test gap. The pause time of leader pulses in the positive polarity is significantly shorter than that in the negative polarity. Also, the time interval between the first streamer corona onset and breakdown in the negative polarity was much longer than that in the positive polarity The discharge channel paths in the positive polarity were zigzag. On the other hands, the leader channel in the negative polarity was thicker than that in the positive polarity.

Smart sensors and connected devices have changed the concept of garments along with IT technology convergent garments that transform the performance of basic functions. Various types of products have been researched and developed due to the increased interest in smart clothing; in addition, studies based on physical and mechanical properties have also been actively studied to improve accuracy and reliability. This study represents a basic study for the development of smart textiles based on motion recognition for the surfing practice of beginners interested in IT convergence type. A physical durability evaluation of conductive yarn according to sewing method was later carried out. This study is a conditional specimen sewn with cotton lower thread and 100mm pattern length based on the results of previous studies. The durability of the conductive yarn according to the sewing method was evaluated according to the sewing method. Durability was evaluated by two kinds of repeated strain and abrasion tests. The specimen with applied cotton in a lower thread zigzag pattern 2mm stitch size 100mm stitch length was shown to have the most suitable durability for smart textile.

H.264/AVC is newest video coding standard of the ITU-T Video coding Experts Group and the ISO/IEC Moving Picture Expets Group. Recently H.264/AVC has been adopted as a video compression standard in DMB and multimedia equipments. In this paper, we propose a H.264/AVC intra frame decoder which can minimize the memory usage and chip size. The proposed intra frame decoder is described in VHDL language and simulated in model_sim. It was verified in chip level by downloading to XCV1000E FPGA chip.

We present an interactive cloth simulation method based on the mass-spring model, which is the most widely used one in the field of cloth animation. We focus especially on the case where relatively strong forces are applied on relatively small number of mass-points. Through distributing the forces on some specific points to the overall mass-points, our method simulates the cloth in pseudo-real time. Given a deformed cloth, we start from resolving the super-elasticity effect using Provot's dynamic inverse method [9]. In the next stage, we adjust the angles between neighboring mass-points, to finally remove the unexpected zigzags due to the previous super-elasticity resolving stage.
This study carried out several laboratory tests such as water tank settlement test and two-dimensional water flow test to investigate settlement and scour characteristics of a square-shaped hybrid reef which was reinforced with geogrid. In addition, numerical analysis was also performed to find out scour characteristics of the square-shaped hybrid reef with different placement types (type A; straight placement type, type B; zigzag placement type). Laboratory test results indicated that settlement and scouring depth significantly reduced in hybrid reefs reinforced with geogrid, compared with those without reinforcement. Two-dimentional water flow tests and numerical test results also showed that scouring depth and flow velocity of placement type A more decreased than those of type B.

Two different $SnO_2$ nanomaterials(nanowires and nanobelts) were synthesized from the thermal evaporation of ball-milled $SnO_2$ powders at $1350^{\circ}C$ without the presence of any catalysts, and their structural properties are then investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. This investigation reveals that the $SnO_2$ nanowires are single-crystalline and their growth direction is parallel to the [100] direction, and that the $SnO_2$ nanobelts are single crystalline and their shape is zigzag. In addition, photoresponse of a single $SnO_2$ nanowire was performed with light above-gap energy, and different characteristics of photoresponse were obtained for the nanowire at ambient atmosphere and in vacuum.
The furcocercus cercariae of Neodiplostomum seoulense (Digenea: Neodiplostomidae) penetrate the skins of tadpoles and shed their tails. The speculated mechanism of this tail loss was physical efforts required to produce a vigorous zigzag motion during skin penetration; no other mechanism has been proposed. We examined the relationship between the host serum and cercarial tail loss. Cercariae of N. seoulense were collected from experimentally infected Segmentina hemisphaerula, and lots of 300 cercariae were cultured in medium 199 contained several types of sera. Cercarial tail degradation was induced in all media, but all the cercariae cultured except those cultured in media containing fetal bovine serum (FBS) died within 48 hr. After 72 hr cultivation in media containing FBS, cercarial tail degradation was induced in 67.0%; in continuous cultivation 13.3% of larvae survived for 7 days. Tail degradation did not occur in the absence of serum and when serum was heat inactivated at $56^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. The addition of 20 mM ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) blocked cercarial tail degradation completely. Moreover, the addition of 20 mM $MgCl_2$ restored tail degradation blocked by EDTA. These results suggest that the alternative complement pathway is related with the N. seoulense cercarial tail degradation induced by serum.
