  • In this paper, we propseded the Youngwoo keyboard to help the communication disorders experienced by patients with dysarthria. Existing methods for communication by patients with dysarthria include a letter board with consonants and vowels, a mouse using eye tracking, and communication assistance applications. However, there was a delay of more than 5 minutes per sentence, so there were many difficulties in communication. However, unlike the existing method, the proposed method has been improved so that the patient with dysarthria can communicate by completing the sentences with eye movements. In the conclusion and future work of this paper, the educational use value for Yeongwoo keyboard was analyzed, and it was shown that this training can be of great help to families with ALS patients. The proposed keyboard will be able to improve the difficulties of families by facilitating communication of patients with dysarthria.

  • This study aims to provide basic data for developing hand functional training programs using a keyboard to see if there is a relationship between the smart keyboard input speed using both hands, the Dexterity of the hand and the eye-hand coordination ability. The smartphone keyboard input speed, Purdue Pegboard, Grooved Pegboard Test, and Korean-Developmental-Test of Visual Perception-Adolescent were evaluated for 40 university students Province. An independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA were conducted to identify differences in smartphone keyboard input speed, dexterity, eye-hand coordination ability and visual-motion using both hands according to the general characteristics of the subjects. Pearson correlation was also conducted to find out the relationship between hand-used smartphone keyboard input speed, hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination ability and visual-motor. As a result, the smartphone keyboard input speed using both hands showed a correlation with the dominant hand in the Purdue Pegboard Test (r=-.313, p<.05). In addition, the input speed of the smartphone keyboard is Copying(r=-.333, p<.05), Visual Motor Search(r=.455, p<.01), Visual Motor speed(r=-.453, p<.01) and Form Constancy (r=-.341, p<.05) in the item of K-DTVP-A. Therefore, it is believed that it will be helpful in the development of a treatment program using a smartphone, and it is expected that the effectiveness of a treatment program using a smartphone will be proven through additional experimental studies in the future.

  • An integrated environment for optimum design has been developed using Motif. The integrated environment is composed of the preprocessor, the postprocessor and the optimization part. The preprocessor is part of making a finite element model for optimum structural design and the postprocessor displays results of optimum design and the optimization part is the part which execute optimization. It is designed to reduce user's difficulties in structural optimum design. It used Graphic User Interface for the concurrent representation of various inputs and outputs through the dialog box, mouse and keyboard. Structural optimum design can be done easily through dialog box, menu, concurrent representation of modeling process and results of structural optimum design can be understood easily through stress contour, deformed model and graph of cost function.

  • The in put system using the touch screen directly makes the input signals by the contact on the screen without the assistance of peripherals such as a pen or hands. These kinds of input systems using the flexible hands is maximizing suppleness and intuition of the input rather than those systems using a keyboard or a mouse which are moving a cursor or typing a word. However, using hands for an input may give rise to a mistake in control. And there are few interfaces utilizing the touch screen. Incorrectness and insufficiency of the interface are the weak point of the touch screen systems. In this paper, we propose the dial menu user interface for the mobile devices using touch screen for an efficient input. In this method, it consists of 2 states(Inactive states, Active states) and 4 actions(Rotation, Zoom in, and Zoom out, and Click). The intuitive control utilizing the suggested method overcomes the incorrect pointing, weak point of the touch screen system, and boosts the searching menu by utilizing the drag function of the touch screen.
