  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the English reading strategies of Korean secondary EFL learners by their personality types. The study was conducted with 112 middle school students and 100 high school students in Korea. The instrument used for personality measurement was the MBTI test. A reading strategy questionnaire was used to see how frequently each reading strategy was used while students read passages in English. The collected data was analyzed using t-test and two-way ANOVA to see the differences between high school and middle school students in terms of personality types. The results of the study demonstrated that there were significant differences in strategies used by the two groups of students and high school students used more reading strategies than middle school students. It was also found that the students exhibited some differences in reading strategy use depending on their personality types, especially between the N(Intuition) and S(Sensing) types. For example, students with N(Intuition) types used more vocabulary-comprehension, guessing, and metacogntive strategies than S(Sensing) types. Pedagogical implications and suggestions for classroom English teachers are discussed based on the results of the current study.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the creative hands-on activities using EM (effective microorganisms) that can enhance the environmental literacy of learners, and to examine the effect of its application. The program was composed of 10 sessions, including biological knowledge and ecosystem status of microorganisms, practical activities that stimulate the environmental behavior and emotion of elementary school students, and career design related to their aptitude and occupation in future. This program can also be connected to the domains of creative hands-on activities, that is, career activities, club activities, self-regulated activities and voluntary service activities. In this study, two classes of 3th grades of elementary school in Seoul were selected and divided into two groups. The experimental group to undergo the program of creative hands-on activities using EM showed higher environmental literacy than the control group. In the concrete, it is proven that this program contributed to the improvement of learners' environmental emotion, skill, and behavior. When interviewed with experimental group, we found that sustained EM hands-on activities were conducted in collaboration with their families, and they became more aware of the utilities of EM and could participate in the activities more interestingly. In conclusion, the creative hands-on activities program was very effective and helped elementary students to change their environmental literacy in positive ways.

  • We suggest on this paper the LTSA-based Guide System for elementary mathematics, that is useful in managing of educational contents, avoiding redundant contents-development and improving reusability of contents. And it gives more satisfaction to the learner by making leaner choose his own courses. We considered the educational differences between learners, for the learning not to be a mechanical thing, by giving the educational course and method adequate to the learner By focusing on the educational differences between learners resulted from elementary educational adaption example implemented on the base of the international standard, we suggested a method for activating the coaching process in the system.

  • The purpose of the paper was to investigate the relationship between the social familiarity and learners' participation and performance in terms of individual performance and team performance. In addition, experimental groups were split into two groups, depending on the level of social familiarity. The result showed that the social familiarity had positive correlational relations with the learners' participation, individual performance, and team performance. Additionally the group that showed high level of social familiarity had outperformed the others that showed low level of social familiarity. Some suggestions such that the importance of instructional strategy, which increase the social familiarity in web-based team learning environment were made.

  • A high-speed Internet has brought a rapid spread of Web Based Distance Learning(WBDL). Even though the WBDL was considered a new methodology to overcome the limitation of a traditional education, it evolves not as alternatives but as strategic augmenting tools for a traditional face-to-face education. The WBDL systems accommodate diverse services such as e-Learning, e-Mentoring, and Blended Learning in order to give satisfactions to learners and increase the learning effectiveness. This study suggested the WBDL system's and learner's characteristics as two major affecting factors, in which two independent variables were respectively selected. A mediating effect of learning motivation between the independent variables and learning achievement was empirically tested. The interactions between the WBDL sysrem and learners were also tested on the view points of the moderating effects between the learning motivation and the learning achievement. The results showed that the mediating effects of learning motivation and the moderating effects of the system interactions were statistically significant.

  • In this study we surveyed the characteristics of the Semantic Web and ontology technology, analyzing the studies which applied ontology to e-Learning. In addition, we investigated the models which should be considered in the adaptive learning, analyzing the existing adaptive learning systems. On the basis of the analysis of them, we sought the ways to apply ontology for supporting the adaptive learning in the e-learning system, designing an ontology-based adaptive learning system. The system made up for the weak points of the existing ontology-based learning systems. That is, it appropriately diagnoses learners' knowledge level of learning concepts, classifying the learning styles in detail, and providing their corresponding learning methods and content. By adapting the learning content to the learners' individual learning style and knowledge level, this system would support their learning more efficiently and more effectively.

  • The perception that programming is difficult is spread among learners. Indeed, in college education, the dropout rate of programming classes is higher than in other courses. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the cognitive aspects of why learners think programming is difficult and then to propose appropriate teaching strategies for them. Recently, studies are under way to understand how the brain learns and is most effective in what situations, based on the development of brain science. This is the study of brain-compatible learning. The purpose of this study is to propose an instructional design on programming lessons based on brain-compatible learning principles.

  • In this study, we designed and developed Web-based 3D figure learning program which can create and control the 3D figures effectively in cyberspace. To develop this learning program, we used the JAVA 3D because JAVA 3D can express 3D figures effectively in cyberspace and is platform independent. This program is very helpful for learners to understand the concept of 3D space and the formulation of space concept effectively. Also it motivates learners to understand 3D figures study and enables Self-Directed-Learning.

  • This paper describes the intent of learners to acquire university education, the basis for selecting study courses, the means to assess the quality of higher education, what the challenges faced by the learners are, as well as suggestions for improvement. The design and system thinking approach has been adapted to address the well-being issues of B40 young people in Bangladesh, through understanding their need, followed by building conceptual business models using modeling tools, i.e., Business Model Canvas (BMC) and Value Proposition Canvas (VPC) model. The main objective of this paper is to investigate the contribution and the role of a Malaysian University to solve problems of quality of higher education in Bangladesh and what initiatives should be taken to overcome this problem. This paper offers a validated conceptual Malaysian University of the Future (UotF) business model with the focus on international community engagement programs to help Bangladeshi students to acquire knowledge, abilities, skills, and values toward developing a harmonious and sustainable society. The contribution of this paper is the presentation of a conceptual, validated business model in both BMC and VPC formats. This conceptual business model can further be applied to civic engagement operations by other universities.

  • While online research is in full swing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Education announced a plan to gradually switch face-to-face classes along with 'recovery of daily life'. As such, there is a need for an agreement that appropriately considers the position of promoting face-to-face classes, the position of studying online classes, and the position of students taking classes. Therefore, this paper intends to examine the teaching method of Coexist with COVID-19 centered on the student's position as the host of the class. It is expected that this study will be able to suggest directions for innovative teaching methods that reflect the considerations of teachers' teaching methods and analyze the needs of learners who are consumers.
