Rye has been a major winter forage crop in Korea. Varietal improvement of rye has been practiced either by hybrid or population breeding systems. Hybrid breeding offers important advantages over population breeding since it is normally a cross-pollinated crop. The hybrid breeding in rye has been possible since cytoplasmically inherited forms of male sterility (CMS) and corresponding nuclear restorer genes were found. The objectives of this research were to develop the maintainer and restorer lines of Korean inbred lines and to estimate the effect of 'Pampa' type of CMS cytoplasm on yield and its related characteristics. For easy discrimination of male-sterile status of plants, anther scoring and the restore index system in which seed-setting and pollen quantity of viability were taken into account were established. High significant correlation between pollen quantity and pollen viability was found. For "Pampa" cytoplasm, four of 14 Korean inbred lines tested turned out to be a maintainer but no restorer was found. But for "235b" CMS cytoplasm, seven inbred lines acted as complete restorers. The Korean inbred rye lines acted mainly as maintainers in "Pampa" cytoplasm but acted mainly as restorer in "235b" cytoplasm. The 'Pampa' cytoplasm inducing male sterility reduced cohn length and plant height and increased the number of tiller, so forage yield and grain yield were enhanced. However, heading date was slightly delayed compared to the normal cytoplasm.elayed compared to the normal cytoplasm.
The need to synchronize flowering in two lines of different maturities is frequently encountered in hybrid com (Zea mays L.) seed production. To establish the methods for synchrony of flowering in parent lines of different maturities be effects of clipping at 4 and 6-leaf stages of growth and two levels, clear polyethylene mulching and five different planting dates on flowering date growth and seed yield of two dent com inbred lines of different maturities were evaluated Clipping just above the shoot-apex delayed pollen sheeding 6 to 9days and silking 5 to 13 days but reduced stand and seed yield 30 to 70% and 67 to 81%. respectively. Clipping 5cm above the shoot apex delayed flowering 1 to 4 days without stand reduction but reduced yield 3 to 29%. Laterclipping was slightly more effective for delaying flowering than earlier clipping but reduced stand more severely when clipped just above the shoot apex. Under clear polyethylene film mulching, flowering of two lines was 13 to 15 days earlier and seed yield of B68 (late line) was significantly increased. As planting was delayed from April 18 to June 13, the number of days from planting to flowering of two lines decreased due to increase in air temperature. However, growing degree days (GDD) from planting to flowering of each lines was similar regardless planting dates indicating that GDD can be satisfactoryly used for choosing the planting dates of parent lines of different maturities. Seed yields of two lines were decreased with delaying planting dates.

When the yield line theory is used to estimate the ultimate strength of a concrete barrier, it is of primary importance that the correct assumption is made for the failure mode of the barrier. In this study, a static test was performed on two full-scale concrete barrier specimens of Korean standard shape that simulate the actual behavior of a longitudinally continuous barrier. This was conducted in order to verify the failure mode presented in the AASHTO LRFD specification. The resulting shape of the yield lines differed from that presented in AASHTO when subjected to an equivalent crash load. Furthermore, the ultimate strengths of the specimens were lower than the theoretical prediction. The main causes of these differences can be attributed to the characteristics of the barrier shape and to a number of limitations associated with the classical yield line theory. Therefore, a revised failure mode with corresponding prediction equations of the strength were proposed based on the yield lines observed in the test. As a result, a strength that was more comparable to that of the test could be obtained. The proposed procedure can be used to establish more realistic test levels for barriers that have a similar shape.

The practical studies on the method of particle contamination control for yield enhancement in the cleanroom were carried out. The method of the contamination control was proposed, which are composed of data collection, data analysis, improvement action, verification, and implement control. The partition check method and the composition analysis for data collection and data analysis were respectively used in the main board and the cellular phone module production lines. And these methods were evaluated by the variation of yield loss between before and after improvement action. In case that the partition check method was applied, the critical process step was selected and yield loss reduction through improvement actions was observed. While in case that the composition analysis was applied, the critical sources were selected and yield loss reduction through improvement actions was also investigated. From these results, it is concluded that the partition check and the composition analysis are effective solutions for particle contamination control in the cleanroom production lines.

Yield is a very important measure that can expresses simply for productivity and performance of company. So, yield is used widely in many industries nowadays. With the development of the information technology and online based real-time process monitoring technology, many industries operate the production lines that are developed into automation system. In these production lines, the product structures are very complexity and variety. So, there are many multi-variate processes that need to be monitored with many quality characteristics and associated process variables at the same time. These situations have made it possible to obtain super-large manufacturing process data sets. However, there are many difficulties with finding the cause of process variation or useful information in the high capacity database. In order to solve this problem, neural networks technique is a favorite technique that predicts the yield of process for process control. This paper uses a neural networks technique for improvement and maintenance of yield in manufacturing process. The purpose of this paper is to model the prediction of a sub process that has much effect to improve yields in total manufacturing process and the prediction of adjustment values of this sub process. These informations feedback into the process and the process is adjusted. Also, we show that the proposed model is useful to the manufacturing process through the case study.
Lines were developed from the two crosses, BY4 X NC 82 and BY 4 X BY 104, by bulk, backcross and anther-derived dihaploid methods of breeding , and their variations in major agronomic, chemical characters, heritability, and response to selection were compared. 1. The anther-derived dihaploid lines showed a greater genetic variability and heritability in characters investigated than the lines developed by the other two methods of breeding . However, those were Inferior In agronomic characters and yielded 15.4% less leaf tobacco than the lines developed by the bulk method. 2. The lines developed by bulk method were higher In the frequency of lines resistant to bacterial wilt and in the yield, but Its lines appeared later flowering. inferior leaf Quality, and higher total nitrogen contents than those developed by the backcross method of breeding. 3. In the population of the lines developed by the backcross method, bacterial wilt resistant lines were less frequent, but the lines with a good leaf quality were more frequent.

The field experiment was conducted in vegetable area, Institute of Horticultural Sciences in University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in order to recognize morphological and fruit growth pattern and yield of Tinda (Praecitrullus fistulosus) gourd germplasm lines. Sixteen germplasm lines in which one line is used as check are included were sown and grown on flat beds in field. The field experiment was arranged as randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Data on days to maturity, fruit per vine, fruit weight in grams, fruit diameter and total yield obtained were recorded. The fruit texture is marked as phenotype parameter. All parameters were collected and then analyzed statistically. All lines and replications showed different results among each other according to parameter. The maximum DTM (days to maturity), F/P (fruit per plant), FW (fruit weight), FD (fruit diameter) and Yield were recorded was $L_0$ (68.66), $L_3$ (1.66), $L_{10}$ (248.33), $L_{13}$ (8.50) and $L_0$ (599.33) and the minimum were recorded was $L_1$ (56), $L_{11}$ (0.33), $L_0$ (198), $L_9$ (7) and $L_4$ (421) grams respectively. All lines showed smooth texture of fruits with no hairs when mature at harvesting stage.

Water and phosphorus (P) fertilizer are two of the most critical inputs in rice cultivation. Under climate change scenarios and urbanization, irrigation and fertilizer are becoming limiting factors often leading to significant decrease in yield whenever supplied scarcely. It has been shown that the Pup1 QTL confers tolerance to P starvation and improved early-stage root vigor in indica rice grown in the tropics. However, whether the QTL works in japonica rice genetic background grown in temperate regions remains to be elucidated. Here, we have introgressed the Pup1 QTL into three temperate rice varieties MS11, TR22183, and Dasan using marker-assisted backcrossing and next generation sequencing. The selected lines all harbored the full Pup1 QTL with recurrent parent genome recovery rates ranging from 66.5% to 99.8%. Evaluation of the introgression rice lines grown in South Korea under low inputs of P and water revealed early vegetative growth advantage relative to that of the recurrent parents. Under rainfed condition, Pup1 introgression lines had yield advantage ranging from 7.2 to 19.9% and 24 to 26% in P non-supplied soil and P-supplied soil, respectively compared to that of the recurrent parents suggesting that Pup1 confers enhanced yield under low P and water inputs in temperate rice genetic background grown in temperate climate. In terms of early vegetative growth, temperate Pup1 introgression lines showed a similar trend on the extent to which Pup1 promotes yield advantage in temperate rice in comparison with indica control Pup1 introgression line IR64-Pup1.
This study was conducted to select sesame varieties with high cultural stabilities by comparing several parameters of agronomic traits under the different cultural environments. Of the six areas, Iksan and Jinju areas which showed positively larger environment index values were relatively adequate cultural conditions for sesame. At the comparison of cultural stability of agronomic traits by Eberhart and Russell regression model among sesame breeding lines, Suwon 169 showed more stable regression coefficient values to the number of capsules per plant, number of seeds per capsule and seed weight per plant, and Iksan 12 showed more stable regression coefficient values to culm length and weight per plant. At the comparison of cultural stability of yield per 10a, Suwon 169 and Iksan 12 among sesame breeding lines showed more stable respectively, deviation values of 0.99, 0.98 respectively, and more less regression deviation values of 0.074, 0.167 respectively. Therefore those breeding lines are comparatively higher stabilities to yield determining agronomic traits under the different cultural environments, and it was concluded that those two breeding lines had the possibility to recommend promising breeding lines in the future.

In order to developing high-quality rice varieties and processing varieties, systematic and stable evaluation of physicochemical properties is required for breeding lines. In this study, we compared the quality characteristics evaluation results of rice breeding lines for cooked rice, special rice, and whole crop silage rice adapted to central plain region (Suwon) in order to use as basic data for future rice variety development. Brown rice length/width ratio, head rice ratio, protein content, amylose content, alkali digestion value(ADV) and Toyo value were analyzed to evaluate the quality characteristics of yield trial lines cultivated in Suwon for four years (2017-2020). Brown rice length/width ratio, head rice ratio, protein content, ADV and Toyo values showed significant differences by year, but there was no significant difference in amylose content (p<0.05), which showed little environmental variation. The head rice ratio and Toyo value showed an increasing trend, while the protein content showed a decreasing trend. However, the protein content was the highest in 2020, which is thought to be owing to little sunlight hours due to heavy rainfall in 2020. The protein content of whole crop silage rice was 8.1%, which was significantly higher than that of other lines (p<0.05). Toyo value of medium-maturing and early-maturing lines were 67.6 and 73.7%, respectively, and the Toyo value of medium-maturing lines was higher than that of the early-maturing lines (p<0.05). In correlation analysis among the quality characteristics of the rice lines for cooked rice, significant positive correlations were detected between Toyo value and head rice ratio, amylose content, ADV, and a negative correlation was observed between Toyo value and protein content (p<0.05).
