  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine and compare the academic engagement, academic burnout, stress, and social support among undergraduate nursing students by grade. Methods: The study is a descriptive comparative survey. The participants were 247 undergraduate nursing students enrolled in 3 universities located in G city. The collected data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, $x^2$ tests, and analysis of covariance, using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: The students showed significant differences in academic engagement, academic burnout, and stress according to their grade. The post-hoc analysis results showed that sophomores and juniors had lower academic engagement and higher academic burnout and stress than others (i.e., freshmen, or seniors). There was no significant difference in social support among nursing students. Academic engagement had a positive correlation with social support and a negative correlation with academic burnout and stress. Also, academic burnout had a positive correlation with stress and a negative correlation with academic engagement and social support. Conclusion: The findings indicate that nursing students in second and third grade were at risk of academic burnout and under severe stress. Therefore, sophomores and juniors need more attention and care to help them relieve and control stress and burnout and to improve their academic engagement. Also, the findings should be considered when developing plans and/or interventions for nursing students' major adjustment and academic achievement.

  • The malicious URLs which can be used for sending malicious codes and illegally acquiring private information is one of the biggest threat of information security field. Particularly, recent prevalence of smart-phone increases the possibility of the user's exposing to malicious URLs. Since the way of hiding the URL from the user is getting more sophisticated, it is getting harder to detect it. In this paper, after conducting a survey of the user experiences related to malicious URLs, we are proposing the rule-based malicious URL detection method. In addition, we have developed java library which can be applied to any other applications which need to handle the malicious URL. Each class of the library is implementation of a rule for detecting a characteristics of a malicious URL and the library itself is the set of rule which can have the chain of rule for deteciing more complicated situation and enhancing the accuracy. This kinds of rule based approach can enhance the extensibility considering the diversity of malicious URLs.

  • Purpose: This study was designed to investigate effect of sensory stimulation on the mother-infant interaction in premature infants. Method: The subjects of this study consisted of 36 pairs of premature infants and their mothers from NICU of one university hospital located in Taegu, 18 pairs for intervention group and 18 pairs for control group. The data were collected from May, 1999 to October, 2000. For the intervention group Field's sensory stimulation(tactile and kinesthetic stimulation) was applied 2 times a day for 10 days(10:00-11:00 in the morning and 7:00-8:00 in the afternoon by researcher and mother). To determine mother and infant interaction during feeding, tool developed by Kim Mi-Ye(1999) was used. Collected data were analyzed with SAS program using chi-square test and t-test. Result: Significant differences were found in mother-infant interaction between two groups(t=-5.38, p=.00). It indicates that sensory stimulation was effective in improving mother-infant interaction. In the aspects of the quality of mother-infant interaction, sensory stimulation was most effective in improving sensitivity to mother and infant's synchronic behaviors(t=-5.43. p=.00) and followed by growth fostering(t=-5.07, p=.00), sensitivity to infant's cues(t=-4.53, p=.00), clarity of infant's cues(t=-3.03, p=.00) and responsiveness to the mother's behaviors(t=-2.14, p= 0.04). Conclusion: Based on the result of this study, it is suggested that maternally administered sensory stimulation should be applied clinical practice to improve interaction of premature infants and their mothers.

  • The ethyl acetate fraction of Bat Faeces (Ye Ming Sha: natural products used in Chinese Medicine) after fermentation (EFBF-AF) showed enhanced anti-oxidative effects in 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt assays. Fermentation of the Bat Faeces by using the crude enzyme extract from Aspergillus kawachii, significantly increased the anti-inflammatory effects. Fermented Bat Faeces markedly inhibited nitric oxide production, inducible nitric oxide synthase, and cyclooxygenase-2 expression in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophage cells. The EFBF-AF reduced the nuclear translocation of nuclear factor kappa B ($NF-{\kappa}B$) via $IKK{\alpha}$ and $I{\kappa}B{\alpha}$ phosphorylation, and decreased the phosphorylated the extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERK) and p38 expression in LPS-treated RAW 264.7 macrophages. In addition, the EFBF-AF suppressed the expression of pro-inflammatory genes, such as interleukin-$1{\beta}$, interleukin-6, and tumor necrosis $factor-{\alpha}$. These results suggest that fermented Bat Faeces may suppress pro-inflammatory responses in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages cells via ERK, p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase and $NF-{\kappa}B$ signaling pathways.

  • Treatment techniques that affect homeostasis by non-invasive regulation in peripheral organs will advance disease research. Here, we demonstrate a non-invasive method of conditioning within an organ using a low-frequency stimulator superposition of alternating microcurrent wave in stages. It is first applied to the inflammatory response in H3N2-infected sinusitis mice. To check the progress of the treatment, mice were sacrificed every week for 3 weeks, nasal tissue was removed, and the inflammatory response was investigated through H & E staining. The low-frequency stimulation treatment group was found to alleviate the proliferation of epithelial cells and invasion of inflammatory cells compared to the control group as the passage of treatment time. The reduction of inflammatory cytokines in the nasal lavage fluid was observed in H3N2-infected sinusitis mice treated with of low-frequency stimulation using superposition of alternating microcurrent wave compared to H3N2-infected sinusitis mice after 3 weeks. These data demonstrate that low-frequency stimulation device in the form of using alternating current wave superposition on within organs provides a new method to regulate specific physiological functions. Therefore, it is necessary to prove the inhibitory effect of low-frequency stimulation using alternating current wave superposition on inflammatory diseases by various methods through further studies and clinical studies.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to understand the current status of clinical practice patterns of Korean medicine in the treatment of degenerative arthritis of the hip and finger joints using web-based survey. Methods: An e-mail questionnaire survey was conducted with the Korean Medicine Doctor(K.M.D) registered in the Korean Medicine Association. The survey data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel. Results: Although the response rate of the survey was low, the characteristics of the respondents generally reflected the characteristics of the study population. A total of 35.2% of the respondents had heard of the guidelines; however, they did not use them for medical treatment. The reason as answered by 32.8% of the respondents was "not enough treatment time to check the manual and apply it." More than half (78.80%) answered that they were treating patients with both degenerative hip and finger arthritis; however, the average monthly number of first-time patients was ≤5. A total of 379 (60.9%) respondents answered that "acupuncture is very important," which was the only one that exceeded the majority compared to other treatments. As a result of the safety investigation, "Acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping" were considered high in safety, while "Pharmacopuncture and Bee venom acupuncture" were considered low in safety. Conclusions: This survey helped to determine the current clinical practice patterns of Korean medicine treatments, further providing basic data for CPGs for degenerative arthritis of the hip and finger joints.

  • More than half of the global distribution of the Rhododendron genus is found in China, with over 74% being endemic species. However, there is still insufficient data to chemically classify the Rhododendron genus native to China. Therefore, in this study, a chemotaxonomic study was conducted to determine the presence of taxifolin-3-O-arabinopyranoside, a flavonoid compound, in the Rhododendron genus native to China. Forty-three species of Rhododendron native to China-20 from across China, 8 from Beijing, 6 from Yanbian, and 9 from Yunnan-were utilized in the experiment. Through HPLC analysis, the retention time was compared with that of taxifolin-3-O-arabinopyranoside, a standard compound, and quantitative analysis was conducted. As a result, taxifolin-3-O-arabinopyranoside was detected in 22 out of 43 the Chinese Rhododendron species. Afterwards, LC-MS/MS analysis was performed on the 22 species in which taxifolin-3-O-arabinopyranoside was detected to determine whether the molecular weight was consistent with the standard compound. Under negative conditions, it was confirmed that all samples exhibited the same molecular weight as taxifolin-3-O-arabinopyranoside, 435-436 m/z. The same compound was detected in more than half of the Rhododendron species used in the experiment, and taxifolin-3-O-arabinopyranoside was determined to be an indicator compound for Rhododendron species native to China. In addition, the possibility of using the above results as basic data for chemical classification of Chinese Rhododendron genus was confirmed.
