인접한 컨테이너터미널 간 Yard Co-petition Area 활용 방안 연구 (A Study on Utilization of Yard Co-petition Area between Adjacent Container Terminals)

  • 컨테이너터미널은 적정 규모의 선석(길이)과 야드 부지를 확보하였을 때, 운영 효율성이 극대화 될 수 있다. 하지만 부산신항을 비롯한 일부 컨테이너항만은 운영주체 분리로 인해 다수의 터미널이 분리 운영되어 물류 효율성에 제약이 존재한다. 이 연구에서는 인접한 2개의 컨테이너터미널에 야드 코피티션 영역을 활용할 경우, 기존에 비해 전체 터미널 운영(물류) 효율성이 크게 제고될 수 있음을 분석한다.

  • 최근 항만에서는 이송장비의 운영 효율성 제고를 위해 운영방식의 개선에 관한 다양한 시도가 이루어지고 있다. 기존 조별운영 방식에서는 특정 안벽크레인에 지연이 발생하면 배정된 YT들도 함께 작업을 중단해야만 하는 문제가 생겼다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 연구에서는 운영 방식을 풀링운영 방식으로 전환하고 운영 효과를 높이기 위해 장치장 내에 무선 측위 장비를 설치하고 YT의 위치와 혼잡도를 측정하였다. 본 연구를 통해 풀링운영을 위한 YT의 이동을 실시간으로 추적할 수 있게 되었고 장치장의 혼잡도를 객관적으로 분석하고 평가하는 작업통제 방법이 마련되었다.

  • A yard in a container terminal is a temporary storage space before containers are loaded onto the target vessel or delivered to consignees. For improving the utilization of the space in the yard and the efficiency of loading and discharging operations, it is important that operation plans must be carefully constructed in advance. A heuristic method is suggested to solve operation space planning problems considering workloads on handling equipment as well as space availabilities. The operation plans in this paper includes quay crane (QC) schedules and space plans for multiple vessels considering the workload in the container yard of container terminals. This paper evaluates the effectiveness of a space planning method and the performance of a new QC scheduling method using a simulation model.

컨테이너터미널 운영을 위한 의사결정문제의 소개 (Decision-making Problems for the Operation of Container Terminals)

  • This paper introduces several decision-making problems that need to be solved in order to facilitate the efficient operation of container terminals. These decision-making problems include the berth planning problem, the quay crane scheduling problem, the unload/load sequencing problem, the yard allocation problem, and the short-term scheduling of transporters and yard cranes. These problems can be classified into strategic decision problems, tactical decision problems, and real time operational decision problems. This paper proposes definitions of the problems that can be used to develop mathematical models for the problems.

트럭 도착 정보를 활용한 휴리스틱 기반 야드 크레인 스케줄링 방법 (A Study on the Heuristic-Based Yard Crane Scheduling Method Using Truck Arrival Information)

  • 장치장 운영전략을 주제로 한 많은 선행연구들은 장치장에 도착한 트럭들을 대상으로 야드 크레인의 작업시간을 최소화할 수 있는 작업순서를 결정했다. 하지만 실제 현장에서는 이미 장치장에 도착한 트럭들의 작업순서를 바꾸는 것은 거의 불가능하여, 도착순서에 따라 작업을 처리해주는 비교적 단순한 전략을 주로 적용해왔다. 이 방식은 작업순서에 대한 혼잡을 줄일 수 있고 관리가 편하다는 장점이 존재하지만, 간섭대기시간과 공차시간의 증가로 작업시간이 증가하는 문제점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 트럭이 야드 장치장에 도착하기 이전에 트럭의 작업 순서를 결정하는 스케줄링 방법을 제안했다. 트럭 도착 이전에 작업을 할당해 주기 위해 트럭의 도착 예정 시간을 추정할 수 있는 Container Pre-Information Notice 정보를 활용하였다. 연구에서 제안하는 스케줄링 방법의 효과성을 검증하기 위해 실제 부산컨테이너터미널의 설비 레이아웃 및 데이터를 이용하여 현업의 방식과 본 연구의 스케줄링 방식을 비교하였다. 그 결과 크레인 작업 시간에 영향을 미치는 공차이동 및 간섭 대기시간이 감소하여 평균 작업 처리 시간이 감소한 것을 확인하였으며, 또한 내부트럭의 대기시간과 외부트럭의 체감 대기시간이 감소하는 효과가 있었다.

  • An application of the genetic algorithm(GA) to the loading sequencing problem in port container terminals is presented in this paper. The efficiency of loading operations in port container terminals is highly dependent on the loading sequence of export containers. In order to sequence the loading operation, we hove to determine the route of each container handling equipment (transfer crane or straddle carried in the yard during the loading operation. The route of a container handling equipment is determined in a way of minimizing the total container handling time. An encoding method is developed which keeps intermediate solutions feasible and speeds up the evolution process. We determine the sequence of each individual container which the container handling equipment picks up at each yard-bay as well as the visiting sequence of yard-bays of the equipment during the loading operation. A numerical experiment is carried out to evaluate the performance of the algorithm developed.

  • A decision support system is introduced for the efficient operation of port container terminals. It consists of ship planning subsystem, yard planning subsystem, resource management subsystem, real-time control subsystem, and simulation subsystem. The system is intended to support the planning process of the planners and the operation process of the administrators in the container terminals. It is assumed that the transfer cranes and the yard tractor/trailers are used to handle containers in the marshaling yard. The system is explained in terms of the functions of each subsystem and the data flows among various subsystems.

  • In order to cope with improvement of labor cost and cargo volume, Korean ports, especially Busan port, are in need of many new facilities. Of course, current facilities should be fully used, and at the same time it needs to make every effort to maximize its productivity as well as cost saving. To this end, this study has decided to focus on automatic yard operation suitable to the domestic container terminal environments, making a survey of many advanced container terminals, trying to find out their common factors, and finally suggesting several alternatives based on the combination of these factors. Also, this study has suggested the present value of initial investment and operating cost by alternative, and at the same time presented the relationship between cargo handling volume and cost/revenue of the optimal alternative, so that it may be of help in decision making.

Minimizing Empty Trips of Yard Trucks in Container Terminals by Dual Cycle Operations

  • One of the most important objectives of the schedules in a container terminal is to minimize the ship operation time, which consists of discharging and loading operation times. Recently, dual cycling techniques have been used for improving terminal operations, especially for reducing the total empty trips of handling equipment. The main focus of this study is to reduce the empty trip times of yard trucks with minimum delays for ship operations. A heuristic algorithm, modified from a previous algorithm, is proposed to solve this problem. A simulation study is conducted to evaluate the effect of different types of discharging and loading schedules and different locating methods for discharging containers in terms of the performance of the system, including the percentage of the dual cycle operations of yard trucks.

  • It is discussed how to route yard-side equipment during the loading operation in port container terminals. The number of containers to be picked up at each yard-bay, as well as the route of a yard-side equipment (for example, transfer crane or straddle carrier) in a yard, are determined. The objective of the problem is to minimize the total container handling time in the yard. An encoding method to represent nodes in the search space is introduced utilizing inherent properties of the optimal solution by which the search space is greatly reduced. A beam search algorithm is suggested. A numerical experiment is carried out to compared the performance of the beam search algorithm with those of other approaches.
