In this study, we implement a YOLO driving assistance system using a model car. The YOLO is an object detection and recognition algorithm using deep running which is becoming an issue recently. The system alerts the lane departure by applying the image processing technology to the image acquired through the camera, recognizes the objects using the YOLO, and performs various functions according to the type of the object and the distance between the vehicle. the YOLO, which is superior to the existing object detection and recognition algorithm, improves the performance of the driving assist system without additional equipment. The driving assist system using the YOLO will ensure the safety of the driver with low cost.

In this study, a traffic light recognition algorithm was implemented and validated for low-speed special purpose vehicles in an urban environment. Real-time image data using a camera and YOLO algorithm were applied. Two methods were presented to increase the accuracy of the traffic light recognition algorithm, and it was confirmed that the second method had the higher accuracy according to the traffic light type. In addition, it was confirmed that the optimal YOLO algorithm was YOLO v5m, which has over 98% mAP values and higher efficiency. In the future, it is thought that the traffic light recognition algorithm can be used as a dual system to secure the platform safety in the traffic information error of C-ITS.
Object detection plays a critical role in the field of computer vision, and various researches have rapidly increased along with applying convolutional neural network and its modified structures since 2012. There are representative object detection algorithms, which are convolutional neural networks and YOLO. This paper presents two representative algorithm series, based on CNN and YOLO which solves the problem of CNN bounding box. We compare the performance of algorithm series in terms of accuracy, speed and cost. Compared with the latest advanced solution, YOLO v3 achieves a good trade-off between speed and accuracy.

This study is to select an optimal object detection algorithm for designing a self-checkout counter to improve the inconvenience of payment systems for products without existing barcodes. To this end, a performance comparison analysis of YOLO v2, Tiny YOLO v2, and the latest YOLO v5 among deep learning-based object detection algorithms was performed to derive results. In this paper, performance comparison was conducted by forming learning data as an example of 'donut' in a bakery store, and the performance result of YOLO v5 was the highest at 96.9% of mAP. Therefore, YOLO v5 was selected as the artificial intelligence object detection algorithm to be applied in this paper. As a result of performance analysis, when the optimal threshold was set for each donut, the precision and reproduction rate of all donuts exceeded 0.85, and the majority of donuts showed excellent recognition performance of 0.90 or more. We expect that the results of this paper will be helpful as the fundamental data for the development of an automatic payment system using AI self-service technology that is highly usable in the non-face-to-face era.

This paper proposes a new methodology to recognize cracks on asphalt road surfaces using the image data obtained with drones. The target section was Yuseong-daero, the main highway of Daejeon. Furthermore, two object detection algorithms, such as Tiny-YOLO-V2 and Faster-RCNN, were used to recognize cracks on road surfaces, classify the crack types, and compare the experimental results. As a result, mean average precision of Faster-RCNN and Tiny-YOLO-V2 was 71% and 33%, respectively. The Faster-RCNN algorithm, 2Stage Detection, showed better performance in identifying and separating road surface cracks than the Yolo algorithm, 1Stage Detection. In the future, it will be possible to prepare a plan for building an infrastructure asset-management system using drones and AI crack detection systems. An efficient and economical road-maintenance decision-support system will be established and an operating environment will be produced.
3D object detection pipelines often incorporate RGB-based object detection methods such as YOLO, which detects the object classes and bounding boxes from the RGB image. However, in complex environments where objects are heavily cluttered, bounding box approaches may show degraded performance due to the overlapping bounding boxes. Mask based methods such as Mask R-CNN can handle such situation better thanks to their detailed object masks, but they require much longer time for data preparation compared to bounding box-based approaches. In this paper, we present a 3D object recognition pipeline which uses either the YOLO or Mask R-CNN real-time object detection algorithm, K-nearest clustering algorithm, mask reduction algorithm and finally Principal Component Analysis (PCA) alg orithm to efficiently detect 3D poses of objects in a complex environment. Furthermore, we also present an improved YOLO based 3D object detection algorithm that uses a prioritized heightmap clustering algorithm to handle overlapping bounding boxes. The suggested algorithms have successfully been used at the Artificial-Intelligence Robot Challenge (ARC) 2021 competition with excellent results.

As the number of elderly people living alone increases, the frequency of fall accidents is also increasing. Falls are a threat to the health of older adults and can reduce their ability to remain independent. To solve this problem, we need real-time technology to recognize and respond to the critical condition of the elderly living alone. Therefore, this paper proposes a modified fall detection algorithm based on YOLO-KCF that can check one of the emergency situations in real time for the elderly living alone. YOLO can detect not only the detection of objects, but also the behavior of objects, namely stand and fall. Therefore, this paper can detect fall using the ratio of change of boundary box between stand and falling situation, and this algorithm can improve the shortcomings of KCF.

In this research, the accuracy of YOLO v3 algorithm in object detection during AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) operation was investigated. First of all, AGV with 2D LiDAR and stereo camera was prepared. AGV was driven along the route scanned with SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) using 2D LiDAR while front objects were detected through stereo camera. In order to evaluate the accuracy of YOLO v3 algorithm, recall, AP (Average Precision), and mAP (mean Average Precision) of the algorithm were measured with a degree of machine learning. Experimental results show that mAP, precision, and recall are improved by 10%, 6.8%, and 16.4%, respectively, when YOLO v3 is fitted with 4000 training dataset and 500 testing dataset which were collected through online search and is trained additionally with 1200 dataset collected from the stereo camera on AGV.

In this paper, an algorithm that detects the user's finger direction using the YOLO (You Only Look Once) library was proposed. The processing stage of the proposed finger direction detection algorithm consists of a learning data management stage, a data learning stage, and a finger direction detection stage. As a result of the experiment, it was found that the distance between the camera and the finger had a very large influence on the accuracy of detecting the direction of the finger. We plan to apply this function to Turtlebot3 after improving the accuracy and reliability of the proposed algorithm in the future.
K-UAM will be commercialized through maturity after 2035. Since the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) corridor will be used vertically separating the existing helicopter corridor, the corridor usage is expected to increase. Therefore, a system for monitoring corridors is also needed. In recent years, object detection algorithms have developed significantly. Object detection algorithms are largely divided into one-stage model and two-stage model. In real-time detection, the two-stage model is not suitable for being too slow. One-stage models also had problems with accuracy, but they have improved performance through version upgrades. Among them, YOLO-V5 improved small image object detection performance through Mosaic. Therefore, YOLO-V5 is the most suitable algorithm for systems that require real-time monitoring of wide corridors. Therefore, this paper trains YOLO-V5 and analyzes whether it is ultimately suitable for corridor monitoring.K-uam will be commercialized through maturity after 2035.
