$CeO_2$의 상전이에 따른 YBCO 박막의 결정성 및 특성의 변화 (Effect of buffer layer on YBCO film deposited on Hastelloy substrate)

  • We have fabricated good quality superconducting $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-\delta}$ thin films on Hastelloy(Ni-Cr-Mo alloys) metallic substrate with $CeO_2$ and $BaTiO_3$ buffer layers in-situ by pulsed laser deposition in a multi-target processing chamber. We have chosen $CeO_2$ as a buffer layer which has cubic structure of $5.41{\AA}$ lattice parameter and only 0.2% of lattice mismatch with YBCO. $CeO_2$ layer may be helpful for power transmission due to its conducting property. In order to enhance the crystallization of YBCO films on metallic substrates. we deposited $CeO_2$ and $BaTiO_3$ buffer layers at various temperatures. The YBCO superconducting tape fabricated with $BaTiO_3$ and $CeO_2$ buffer layers shows 85K of transition temperature and about $8.4{\times}10^4A/cm^2$ of critical current density at 77K.

  • YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{7-{\delta}}$(YBCO) high temperature superconducting thin films were grown on SrTiO$_3$single crystal substrates by pulsed laser deposition(PLD). The texture and lattice parameter of the YBCO films were analysed using the GADDS (general area detector diffraction system) which enables XRD analyses to be done faster and with fewer sample movement than with the XRD system with point detector. The XRD results of the films grown in different deposition conditions are reported together with the SEM microstructure analysis results.ysis results.

  • NdBaCuO thin films were prepared on $SrTiO_{3}$ substrates by RF magnetron sputtering. These as-grown films were classified into 3type. The resistivity of the deposited films are usually lower than of the YBCO film. The Tc (onset) and Tc (R=0) in the optimized thin films are as high as 90 and 80K, respectively. These as-grown films are highly uniform and semi-trans parent and have a room temperature resistivity of $0.3m{\Omega}cm$.

  • We present current limiting properties of 1.2kV/70A superconducting fault current limiter based on YBCO thin films. This is consisted of 6 wafers (3 parallel ${\times}$ 2 serial connection) with 4 inch-diameter YBCO thin film. The quench current Iq of the switching elements vary between 33.9 and 35.6 A. Within the difference of 0.5 A in the sum of quench current Iq in two stacks, the serial connection of the stacks showed the simultaneous quench behavior in applied power of 1.2 kV /70 A.

  • We investigated quench recovery characteristics of Au/YBCO thin film meander lines. YB$a_{2}$$Cu_{3}$ $O_{7}$films were coated in-situ with a gold layer and patterned into 2 mm wide meander lines by photolithography. The limiters were tested with simulated fault currents at various source voltages. Resistance decreased first slowly and then rapidly to zero. Resistance vs. time curves for different source voltages fell on top of each other when translated horizontally. The slowly varying portion of data fell on straight lines of a slope on a semi-log scale at all source voltages. A heat balance equation reflecting heat loss from meander lines to surroundings explains these results quantitatively.

  • We fabricated and tested a resistive type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) of three-phase 6.6 $kV_{rms}/200 A_{rms}$ rating based on YBCO thin films grown on sapphire substrates with a diameter of 4 inches, Short circuit tests were carried out at a accredited test facility for single line-to- ground faults, phase-to-phase faults and three-phase faults, Each phase of the SFCL was composed of 8${\times}$6 elements connected in series and parallel respectively. Each element was designed to have the rated voltage of 600 $V_{rms}$. A NiCr shunt resistor of 23 Ω was connected to each element for simultaneous quenches. Firstly, single phase-to-ground fault tests were carried out. The SFCL successfully developed the impedance in the circuit within 0.12 msec after fault and controlled the fault current of 10 $kA_{rms} below 816 A_{peak}$ at the first half cycle. In addition, in case of phase-to-phase fault and three- phase fault test. simultaneous quenches among the SFCLs of the phases successfully accomplished. In conclusion. the SFCL showed excellent performance of current limitation upon fault and stable operation regardless of the amplitude of fault currents.

  • For many large-scale applications of high-temperature superconducting materials, large critical current density($J_c$) in high applied magnetic fields are required. A number of methods have been reported to introduce artificial pinning centers(APCs) in $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$(YBCO) films for enhancement of their $J_c$. We report measurements of critical current in $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$ films deposited by PLD on $SrTiO_3$ substrates decorated with Au nanoparticles. Au nanoparticles were synthesized on STO substrates with self assembled monolayer. Microstructural analysis of the obtained YBCO films was performed by using cross-section transmission electron microscopy(TEM). Phase and textural analysis was done using X-ray diffraction. The surface morphology and surface roughness(Ra) of the layers was measured by atomic force microscopy(AFM).

  • To investigate the influence of strip width and inter-strip separation on the ac loss, arrays of parallel strips with different widths and separations were prepared. Studies on the hysteresis-loss characteristics of multifilamentary YBCO films were performed. The local magnetic field due to magnetization currents is measured by a scanning Hall probe microscope. Based on these results a conceptual design for a low loss YBCO coated conductor is suggested.

  • Laser ablation기술에 의해 Pt와 $YBa_Cu_3O_{7-x}$(YBCO)전극위에 epitaxially성장된 BST박막의 조성과 전기적 특성이 연구되었다. RBS분석으로부터 Pt전극 위에 증착된 BST박막의 결정성이 YBCO전극 위에 증착된 것보다도 더 우수하였다. $600^{\circ}C$에서 Pt 전극위에 증착된 BST박막은 100kHz의 주파수에서 유전상수가 320, 유전손실이 0.023이었다. Pt전극위에 증착된 BST박막의 누설전류 밀도가 TBCO전극위에 증착된 것 보다도 더 작았다. 0.15MV/cm의 전기장 하에서 누설전류밀도는 약 0.8 $\mu \; A/ \textrm{cm}^2$이었다.

  • [ $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ ] films have been prepared on $LaAlO_3$ (100) single-crystal substrates by a metalorganic deposition using dichloroacetate precursors (DCA-MOD). Calcination conditions were varied in order to optimize the microstructure and the superconducting properties of YBCO film. Coated films were calcined at various temperatures ranging from $400{\sim}700^{\circ}C$ in flowing humid oxygen atmosphere. Ramping rate to calcination tempertures was $2.22^{\circ}C/min$. Conversion heat treatment was performed at $800^{\circ}C$ for 2 h in flowing Ar gas containing 1000 ppm oxygen with a humidity of 9.45%. Observations of surface and cross sectional SEM microstructure showed that the particle size in the calcined film increased in the range of 100-200 nm with heating rate and the calcination temperature. SEM EDS analysis showed that 13 a/o of chlorine was contained in the calcined film. It was also observed that the porosity increased with the heating rate and temperature. Porous microstructure was developed when YBCO films were prepared using porous calcined film. Dense microstructure and high $J_c$ over $1\;MA/cm^2$ was obtained when calcination was carried out at the temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ with a heating rate of $2.22^{\circ}C/min$.
