군용 섬유제품의 일광견뢰도 시험방법 개선에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Improved Lightfastness Test Method for Military Textile Products)

  • This study was executed to substitute Carbon-arc method, which is a method currently used for testing light-fastness of military textile products, with Xenon arc method. Specimens used in the study were classified according to the fabric material and color of military textile products and were composed of 11 items of 42 kinds with different colors. Light-fatness test was done by comparing the result of Carbon-arc(KS K 0700) and Xenon arc(KS K ISO 105-B02) method. In Xenon arc method, blue wool reference materials of 1~8 was used, and exposure condition preferred in American continent and light exposure method 3 were applied. After testing with both methods, grade of light-fastness, color difference, reflectance and color were examined. Even though there was a slight difference among 42 specimens used in the test, results exceeded the quality standard both in Carbon-arc-lamp and Xenon arc-lamp. Therefore, it was confirmed that applying KS K ISO 105-B02 together in the KS K 0700-regulated Ministry of National Defense standard and purchase order would also fit.

  • For the safety of aircraft, aviation obstacle lights must be attached to the transmission towers in accordance with the governing law. Aviation obstacle lights which consist of solar cells, batteries. xenon lamps and a regulator substituted for aviation obstacle lights using AC power. A xenon lamp has advantage such as high brightness but also has disadvantage like large power consumption which cause lighting system to have many solar cells and batteries. This paper introduces an application of a aviation obstacle light using LED lamp through the economic analysis between LED lamp and xenon lamp.

Study on the Performance of Infrared Thermal Imaging Light Source for Detection of Impact Defects in CFRP Composite Sandwich Panels

  • Recently, composite materials have been mainly used in the main wings, ailerons, and fuselages of aircraft and rotor blades of helicopters. Composite materials used in rapid moving structures are subject to impact by hail, lightning, and bird strike. Such an impact can destroy fiber tissues in the composite materials as well as deform the composite materials, resulting in various problems such as weakened rigidity of the composite structure and penetration of water into tiny cracks. In this study, experiments were conducted using a 2 kW halogen lamp which is most frequently used as a light source, a 2 kW near-infrared lamp, which is used for heating to a high temperature, and a 6 kW xenon flash lamp which emits a large amount of energy for a moment. CFRP composite sandwich panels using Nomex honeycomb core were used as the specimens. Experiments were carried out under impact damages of 1, 4 and 8 J. It was found that the detection of defects was fast when the xenon flash lamp was used. The detection of damaged regions was excellent when the halogen lamp was used. Furthermore, the near-infrared lamp is an effective technology for showing the surface of a test object.

Improving Light Stability of Natural Rubber Latex Foam

  • In this study, natural rubber latex foam was prepared in order to replace commercialized polyurethane foams as a car seat material. Physical properties of the latex foam were investigated and the light stability was improved. The latex foam was mixed in an aqueous solution state, and the degree of foaming and the accelerator ratios were appropriately controlled. Tensile properties, hysteresis and dynamic mechanical properties of the latex foam were measured to compare with those of polyurethane foams. UV light absorbers and radical scavengers were added for improving light stability of the latex foam. Xenon lamp test was conducted to investigate the effects of the reagents on light stability. Our results revealed that the prepared latex foam including a light absorber with an antioxidant showed excellent light stable performances.

The Influence of Weathering Conditions on the Outer Membrane of Biogas with Plasticized PVC : A Study using Non-destructive Tests

  • The biogas holder is composed of an outer membrane and an inner membrane which are subject to outdoor exposure and gas exposure respectively. The influence of weathering conditions on the photo-degradation of a biogas holder was investigated. Tests were performed under three different methods - outdoor exposure tests (Seosan, Arizona), accelerated tests (Xenon-are lamp) with the outer-membrane of biogas. Moreover, the changes in the aging process were monitored using color difference, gloss, the contact angle and an optical microscope. Changes in physical properties, such as decrease reduction in gloss, decrease in the contact angle, increase in color difference were observed in the aging process. The comparison between membrane 3B, 4B and membrane 5B under xenon-arc were discussed. Membrane 5B was very sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) ray. There were many difficulties in the outdoor exposure test due to acid rain, dust, and stain resistance.

누전차단기 하우징의 내후성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Weathering of RCD'S Housing)

  • This study selected an outdoor RCD'S and verified behavior of change in the housing with time. Weathering tests were carried out as outdoor exposure test (90 degrees, 37 degrees) and laboratory test (xenon lamp), and the results were evaluated based on color difference, gloss, contact angle, and optical microscope. This study can provide basic data for standardization of development and performance evaluation on RCD'S housing products.

Polyethylene Glycol에 의한 수록한지(手漉韓紙)의 광(光) 변색(變色) 억제(抑制) (Control of the Photo-induced Discoloration of the Handmade Korean Paper with Polyethylene Glycol)

  • 지류문화재의 소재로 주로 사용되어온 수록한지를 네 종류로 구분하고 이를 PEG 분자량과 농도별에 따른 광 변색 억제 효과를 태양의 분광분포와 거의 흡사한 xenon arc 등(燈)을 조사(照射)해 시험한 바 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있었다. 1) Polyethylene glycol을 분산제로 사용한 미 표백 한지는 광 조사 이후 PEG 분자량과는 관계없이 10시간까지는 백색도가 급속히 떨어지는 경향을 보였으나 그 이후부터는 점진적으로 향상되는 경향을 나타내 광 변색 억제의 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 2) 약품 표백을 실시한 한지는 20시간 이후부터 백색도가 증가하는 현상이 나타나 시간이 지체될 뿐 변색 억제의 효과는 있음을 알 수 있었다. 3) 황단규근(黃團葵根)을 분산제로 사용해 초지(秒紙)한 한지(韓紙)는 PEG 400-20%에 침지했을 때 백색도가 가장 낮았으나 광 조사 후는 백색도 차가 가장 적어 광 변색 억제효과가 가장 컸음을 알 수 있었다. 4) 광 열화에 의한 표면현상으로 제일 먼저 나타나는 황변(黃變) 현상을 PEG 침지로써 억제할 수 있음을 b*+값이 감소하는 것으로 알 수 있었고 명도 저하 역시 L* 값의 증가로 상당량 억제할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

단파장 자외선(254 nm)에 노출된 고밀도 폴리에틸렌 수지의 카르보닐 지수(CI)와 기계적 물성 변화의 관계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Relationship of Change of Mechanical Properties and Carbonyl Index Induced through Short-wavelength Ultraviolet Radiation (254 nm) for High Density Polyethylene)

  • 화학적 열화를 빠르게 유도할 수 있는 단파장의 자외선(254 nm)을 고밀도 폴리에틸렌의 표면에 조사하여, 생성된 carbonyl band의 변화로부터 기계적 물성 변화를 예측할 수 있는 지에 대한 가능성을 연구하였다. 오랜 시간이 요구되는 자연 태양광에 의한 옥외폭로시험이나, 제논-아크 광원에 의한 광 열화 대신에 광양자 에너지가 높은 UVC 램프를 사용함으로써, 유도되는 광열화의 화학적 특성이 동일한 기계적 물성 변화를 유발하는지를 확인하는 것에 본 연구의 의미가 있다. 인장시험과 크리프-파괴시험으로 진행된 고밀도 폴리에틸렌의 기계적 강도는 CI 변화에 유사한 양상을 보였으며, 특히 항복강도와 신장률은 자외선 노출시간과 밀접한 관계가 있음을 보여주었다. 따라서 빠른 표면 열화를 유발하는 UVC 램프를 활용한 카르보닐 지수와 기계적 물성 변화의 관계를 통하여 장시간이 요구되는 옥외에서의 기계적 물성변화를 보다 빠르게 파악할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다.

  • In this paper, the testing equipment for evaluating aging characteristics of outdoor silicone rubber insulator resulting from the environmental aging effect with regards to sunlight(UV) was developed. Influence of sunlight effect aging is seriously increase due to destruction of ozone layer which is occurred by consumption of fossil fuel. For this purpose, silicone rubber was aged under the artificial sunlight by exposure of xenon lamp radiation in the accelerating aging chamber and various test and analysis were performed such as breakdown strength, contact angle. And FT-IR analysis has been followed.

  • In this paper, aging characteristics of silicone rubber used for outdoor insulation have been investigated with regards to sunlight effect. For this purpose, silicone rubbers were aged under the artificial sunlight by use of xenon arc lamp(1500W) and various tests were performed such as tracking, breakdown, contact angle, stress, strain. And then, in order to elucidate the changes of material, analysis have been followed as follows; FT-IR, SEM and EDS. Regarding the effect of the sunlight, it was obs that the surface of test samples are severely da with decreased hydrophobicity, tracking resistan breakdown strength.
