  • The SIFT algorithm is being actively researched for various image processing applications including video surveillance and autonomous vehicle navigation. The computation of sin/cos function is the most cost part needed in whole computational complexity and time for SIFT descriptor. In this paper, we implement a hardware to sin/cos function of descriptor on sift feature detection algorithm. The proposed Sin/Cosine processor is coded in Verilog and synthesized and simulated using Xilinx ISE 9.2i. The processor is mapped onto the device Spartan 2E (XC2S200E-PQ208-6). It consumes 149 slices, 233 LUTs and attains a maximum operation frequency of 60.01 MHz. As compared with the software realization, our FPGA circuit can achieve the speed improvement by 40 times in average.

  • As the autonomous driving market is rapidly growing, research on autonomous driving is being conducted. Self-driving functions should be performed regardless of the weather for the driver's safety. However, misty weather is difficult to autonomous driving because of the lack of visibility, so a defog algorithm should be used. The image obtained through the fog removal algorithm causes the image quality to deteriorate. To improve this problem, HSV color correction is used to increase the sharpness. In this paper, we propose a color correction hardware using HSV that can cope with 4K images. The hardware was designed with Verilog and verified by Modelsim. In addition, the FPGA was implemented with the goal of Xilinx's xc7z045-2ffg900.

  • The error control of digital transmission system is a very important subject because of the noise effects, which is very sensitive to transmission performance of the digital communication system It employs a modified Euclid's algorithm to compute the error-location polynomial and error-magnitude polynomial of input data. The circuit size is reduced by selecting the Modified Euclid's Algorithm with one Euclid Cell of mutual operation. And the operation speed of Decoder is improved by using ROM and parallel structure. The proposed Encoder and Decoder are simulated with ModelSim and Active-HDL and synthesized with Synopsys. We can see that this chip is implemented on Xilinx Virtex2 XC2V3000. A share of slice is 28%. nut speed of this paper is 45Mhz.

  • This paper describes a hardware implementation of ultra-lightweight block cipher algorithm PRESENT-80/128 that supports for two master key lengths of 80-bit and 128-bit. The PRESENT algorithm that is based on SPN (substitution and permutation network) consists of 31 round transformations. A round processing block of 64-bit data-path is used to process 31 rounds iteratively, and circuits for encryption and decryption are designed to share hardware resources. The PRESENT-80/128 crypto-processor designed in Verilog-HDL was verified using Virtex5 XC5VSX-95T FPGA and test system. The estimated throughput is about 550 Mbps with 275 MHz clock frequency.

  • In this paper a full FPGA-based and compact motor-control system is shown that makes it easy to control the motor and analyze the result data in real time with embedding not only a DC motor controller but also a TFT LCD interface in a single FPGA. Both a PID speed control module for a DC motor and a monitoring module for plotting real time graphs on to a TFT LCD are designed in a single FPGA, and the system validity is shown through simulation and experimental results. The FPGA used is xc3s400 and the entire system is designed by using the AD (Altium Designer). A PWM motor drive system is constructed by using MOSFETs for a DC motor 4-quadrant operations.

  • The kinetic studies on the reactions of dipropyl chlorophosphate (3O) with substituted anilines ($XC_6H_4NH_2$) and deuterated anilines ($XC_6H_4ND_2$) have been carried out in acetonitrile at $55.0^{\circ}C$. The obtained deuterium kinetic isotope effects (DKIEs; $k_H/k_D$) are primary normal ($k_H/k_D$ = 1.09-1.01) with the strongly basic anilines while secondary inverse ($k_H/k_D$ = 0.74-0.82) with the weakly basic anilines. The steric effects of the two ligands on the rates are extensively discussed for the anilinolyses of the ($R_1O$)($R_2O$)P(=O or S)Cl-type chlorophosphates and chlorothiophosphates. A concerted mechanism is proposed with a frontside nucleophilic attack involving a hydrogen-bonded four-center-type transition state for the strongly basic anilines and with a backside attack transition state for the weakly basic anilines on the basis of the DKIEs, primary normal and secondary inverse with the strongly and weakly basic anilines, respectively.

  • Nucleophilic substitution reactions of 1-phenylethyl chlorides (1-PEC; YC6H4CH(CH3)Cl) with phenoxides (XC6H4O-) and thiophenoxides (XC6H4S-) are investigated theoretically using the PM3 method. The Bronsted α and β values are greater for the phenoxides indicating a more advanced reaction in the transition state (TS) than for the thiophenoxides. This is supported by a greater magnitude of ρX (- 6.4 ∼ - 7.4) and ρXY (- 0.76) for the phenoxides than for the thiophenoxides (ρX = - 3.6 ∼ - 4.4 and ρXY = - 0.60). The percentage bond order changes, %Δn≠, suggest that the extents of bond making and breaking are similar for the phenoxides and hence the TS is symmetrical, but bond making is somewhat greater than bond cleavage for the thiophenoxides indicating an unsymmetrical TS. The reactions in the gas phase for both nucleophile series proceed by a SN2 mechanism with a tight TS and negative charge development on the reaction center carbon, Cα. The reactions in water investigated with model systems of benzyl and 1-phenylethyl chlorides using the Cramer-Truhlar solvation model (PM3-SM3) indicate that the reactions of 1-PEC are far more complex due to enhanced stabilization of the carbocation by the methyl substitution for a benzylic hydrogen.

  • Recently, autonomous driving technology based on object recognition and lane recognition has attracted attention. However, in foggy weather, haze removal technology is needed because it is difficult to recognize surrounding objects. The technology of removing hazy is currently being studied in many ways, and a single image based haze removal algorithms are typical. In this paper, we design the hardware for haze removal by estimating the hazy partical map. Proposed hardware architecture is designed to have a cumulative histogram based filter that does not affect the hardware size even if the window size of filter increases. The hardware design is implemented with XILINX's xc7z045-ffg900 as the target board.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to confirm that the cross-country ski sprint course in PyeongChang, where the 2018 Winter Olympics course was to utilize wearable devices equipped with inertial measurement unit (IMU), global positioning system (GPS) and heart rates sensor. Method: For the data collection, two national level cross-country (XC) skiers performed classic technique on the entire sprint course. We analyzed cycle characteristics, range of motion on double poling (DP) technique, average velocity, and displacement of 3 points according to the terrain. Results: The absolute cycle time gradually decreased during starting, middle and finish sections. While the length of the DP increased and the heart rates tended to increase for men skier. In addition, the results indicated that range of motion of knee joint during starting and finish section decreased more than middle section. The errors of latitude and longitude data collected through GPS were within 3 m from 3 points. Conclusion: Through the first case study in Korea, which analyzed the location and condition of XC skiers in the entire sprint course in real time, confirmed that feedback was available in the field using various wearable sensors.
