XQL Query Processing Using XML Materialized Views (XML 실체뷰를 이용한 XQL 질의처리)

  • Recently, much research on XML query processing considering the structural characteristics of XML documents is conducted, focusing primarily on the development and/or extension of XML query languages and on query optimization for effective retrieval of XML documents. In the XML repository, the XML views derived from the underlying XML documents could be stored materialized for effective retrieval of XML documents, and could be capitalized on for XML query processing In this paper, assuming that the XML views defined in XQL are materialized in the repository, we investigate XQL query processing that capitalizes on them. We describe the storage structure of the XML repository which supports the materialized views, and propose an algorithm that determines whether the given XQL query can be processed with the relevant materialized view adn accordingly transforms the original query into one against it.

  • In this paper, we propose a design of the metadata engine of the video recording system to minimize the retrieval time. For this purpose, the proposed metadata engine stores the XML metadata as a separated fragment and construct a hierarchical indexing scheme based on the contextual and structural properties of metadata. The hierarchical indexing scheme is consisted of a node index for basic searching and a group index for advanced searching. In this way our approach can minimize the number of indexes and thus the retrieval time. Our simulation results show that the response time of our proposed system is shorter than that of the previous works.

An Efficient Storage Schema Construction and Retrieval Technique for Querying OWL Data (OWL 데이타 검색을 위한 효율적인 저장 스키마 구축 및 질의 처리 기법)

  • With respect to the Semantic Web proposed to overcome the limitation of the Web, OWL has been recommended as the ontology language used to give a well-defined meaning to diverse data. OWL is the representative ontology language suggested by W3C. An efficient retrieval of OWL data requires a well-constructed storage schema. In this paper, we propose a storage schema construction technique which supports more efficient query processing. A retrieval technique corresponding to the proposed storage schema is also introduced. OWL data includes inheritance information of classes and properties. When OWL data is extracted, hierarchy information should be considered. For this reason, an additional XML document is created to preserve hierarchy information and stored in an XML database system. An existing numbering scheme is utilized to extract ancestor/descendent relationships, and order information of nodes is added as attribute values of elements in an XML document. Thus, it is possible to retrieve subclasses and subproperties fast and easily. The improved query performance from experiments shows the effectiveness of the proposed storage schema construction and retrieval method.

  • 본 논문에서는 대용량의 XML 문서를 효과적으로 저장, 관리 및 구조 기반 검색이 가능한 XML 저장관리시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 구현한 XML 저장관리시스템은 관계형 모델을 기반으로 하고, XML 문서 전체를 저장하는 비분할 저장 모델을 사용하며, DTD에 따라 스키마가 생성되는 동적 스키마 생성 모델을 특징으로 한다. 본 논문의 XML 저장관리 시스템은 BRS 검색엔진과 ORACLE을 기반으로 하며 질의처리기 및 검색결과생성기, XML 객체관리자, XML 인덱스관리자, 구조검색엔진 등으로 구성된다. 이를 통하여 내용 및 애트리뷰트 검색 뿐만 아니라 다양한 구조 정보검색을 효율적으로 지원한다.

  • The goal of this study is to generate a structured document which improves the performance of an information retrieval system by using thesaurus, information on relations between words (terms), and to study on the technique for searching this structured document. In order to accomplish this goal, we propose a DODI (Depth -Oriented Decomposition Index) technique for the structured document and an algorithm to search for related information efficient]y through this index technique that uses a thesaurus. We establish a storage system by which the structured document generated by this index technique is saved in a database through OpenXML and XML documents are generated through ForXML methods.

  • The purpose of this study is to extract metadata based on Dublin Core from national construction information DBs, to design XML schema from the extracted metadata and to apply the previous works to integrated information retrieval system. To extract metadata, co-work was performed with librarians in the field of construction information, and. as a result, twelve metadata elements from Dublin Core and one administrative metadata could be extracted. Based on the investigation and analysis of those thirteen metadata elements, XML schema design process was described in detail. finally, the service environments of integrated information retrieval system to which XML schema was applied was introduced. Further study was also provided.

  • As the Internet is growing, the use of XML which is a standard of semi-structured document is increasing. Therefore, there are on going works about integration and retrieval of XML documents. However, the basis of efficient integration and retrieval of documents is to cluster XML documents with similar structure. The conventional XML clustering approaches use the hierarchical clustering algorithm that produces the demanded number of clusters through repeated merge, but it have some problems that it is difficult to compute the similarity between XML documents and it costs much time to compare similarity repeatedly. In order to address this problem, we use clustering algorithm for transactional data that is scale for large size of data. In this paper we use common structures from XML documents that don't have DTD or schema. In order to use common structures of XML document, we extract representative structures by decomposing the structure from a tree model expressing the XML document, and we perform clustering with the extracted structure. Besides, we show efficiency of proposed method by comparing and analyzing with the previous method.

  • In recent years. XML applications are being developed in diverse area. Especially, development of XML document repository system associated with database is carrying out widely. The previous researches of XML repository system have several defects which are update and retrieval limitations for the XML document, design limitation for a formal retrieval algorithm and data redundancy. In order to solve the above problems. in this paper, we suggest relational database schemes for overcoming limitations of updating, retrieving, and rebuilding document. And suggest query translation strategy using two-phase translation that consists of pattern analyzing phase and SQL generating phase.

  • 인터넷 문서의 표준 사양인 XML 문서가 늘어나면서 XML 문서를 효과적으로 관리고 검색하기 위한 시스템이 개발되고 있다. 그러나 정형화된 질의언어를 사용한 XML 문서의 검색 방법은 질의언어의 구조를 이해하고 사용법을 숙지해야 하는 어려움이 있어 일반 사용자에게는 적합하지 않다. 따라서 사용자가 쉽게 사용할 수 있으면서도 정확한 결과를 가지는 시스템이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 XML 문서를 검색하기 위해 자연어로 질의를 입력하면 이를 XML 구조 검색을 위한 XQL 언어로 자동 변환해 주는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안한 시스템은 자연어를 이용하기 때문에 사용하기가 쉽고 XML 문서 구조가 변경되어도 쉽게 확장할 수 있는 장점을 가진다.

  • XML (extensible Markup Language)은 확장성과 유연성을 통해 인터넷 상에서 데이타를 표현하고 교환하는 중요한 표준으로 자리잡고 있으며, XML 기반의 문서의 양도 증가하고 있다. 이러한 XML의 광범위한 사용에 따라 XML 저장 및 검색 시스템의 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 방대한 XML 데이타를 효율적으로 처리하고 검색하기 위해 XML 문서를 관계형 데이타베이스에 저장하고. 질의 언어로 XQuery를 사용하는 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 또한 다양한 XQuery의 실행을 통하여 제안한 시스템의 성능을 평가한다.
