  • With embedded computing technology makes progress , various applications have been developing in PDA. And information exchanging through U document is underway actively between applications in internet environment. But most of the embedded system has Poor hardware resource. And embedded system uses own file system for XML document management. For reason of, it occurs to many of difficulties of data share and information exchange among other systems. Therefore, an importance of the XML Document Database Management System is on the rise in the embedded system. In this Paper, we design and implement Embedded XML Document Database Management System(EXDMS) for efficiently management of XML document and supporting data sharing and information exchanging through XML document in embedded system. As compared with file system, EXDMS shows results that more excellent performance about expandability and compatibility of application. Also, EXDMS has an excellent data Processing performance in poor system environment.

  • Since XML is emerging as the de facto standard for exchanging and representation of data on the web, the amount of XML data has rapidly increased. Thus, the need for effective store and retrieval of U data has arisen. Since the existing techniques such as XRel which is an XML storage and management technique using RDBMS simply record the existing all label paths, diverse classes of label path expressions could not be efficiently supported. In this paper, we present a technique which supports storage and retrieval for XML data using RDBMS efficiently compared with the existing approaches. Since the proposed technique keeps the XML path index on the relational database and replace label paths with path identifiers, diverse XML queries can be evaluated compared with existing approaches. Also, the proposed technique does not require the modification of the relational database engine and consumes the disk space less. Our experimental result demonstrates the better query performance compared with existing techniques.

  • Metadata is data about data that is used to mange data itself. As applications based on DBMS are increased, it is suggested that metadata model and metadata interchange model to manage metadata in DBMS. but metadata which is in the form of XML (eXtensible Markup Language) document is generally stored into RDBMS. Therefore In this paper, as for the method to store metadata of RDBMS into OODBMS, we design metadata model, metadata interchange model and implement new repository system. The metadata of RDBMS is translated into in the form of XML Document and integrated into XML Data Server on OODBMS, eXcelon and executes retrieval metadata information about RDBMS by XQL(XML Query Language). So It is possible to searchm edit a metadata. The metadata of XML documents stored in eXcelon is easily made to be printed in web browser by applying a XSL (extensible StyleSheets Language). So we can have a detail information about property of metadata in DBMS.

  • Web technologies are gaining increased importance in automation and control systems. However, the choice of Web technologies depends on the use cases in the application environment. In industrial systems, the data can be got not only from many different field systems and devices but also from different OPC (OLE for Process Control) Servers. Current OPC Client might be able to read simple data from OPC Server, but there are some problems to get structured data and to exchange structured information between collaborating applications. Therefore, OPC Foundation has defined interfaces to OPC XML-DA (OPC XML Data Access) and OPC Complex Data that aim to solve those problems. The OPC XML-DA can facilitate the exchange of plant data across the internet, and upwards into the enterprise domain. In addition, the OPC Complex Data will extend the OPC DA specification to allow the OPC Client to read and decode any type of data from measurement and control systems on the plant floor. This paper will describe the concept of OPC XML-DA and OPC Complex Data. And then it proposes a mechanism to implement the OPC Complex Data into OPC XML-DA Server. Additionally, the paper also discusses the security aspects.

  • This paper describes a message model based on XML (eXtensible Markup Language) to present real-time data from sensors and instruments at manufacturing processes for web service. HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) is inadequate for describing real-time data from process control plants while it is suitable for displaying non-real-time multimedia data on web. For XML-based web service of process data, XML format for the data presentation was proposed after investigating data of various instruments at steel-making plants. Considering transmission delay inevitably caused from increased message length and processing delay from transformation of raw data into defined format, which was critical for operation of a real-time system, its performance was evaluated by simulation. In the simulation, we assumed two implementation models for conducting the transformation function. In one model, transformation was done at an SCC (Supervisory Control Computer) after receiving real-time data from instruments. In the other model, transformation had been carried out at instruments before the data were transmitted to the SCC. Various tests had been conducted under different conditions of offered loads and data lengths and their results were described.

  • XML has become a do facto standard for structured document and data on the Web. An XML data deluge over the network will be more, since XML based standards such as Web Service and Semantic Web gets popular. There are efforts to store and query XML documents in a relational database system and recent efforts focus on how to provide such operations using XPath and XQuery. In this paper, we present study about those research efforts and we propose a new scheme to stoγe and query XML documents in a relational database using XPath query. The scheme uses a 'shred' method to store and translates XPath queries to SQL. We also present our empirical experiments using a RDBMS.

  • Many techniques have been proposed to store efficiently and query XML data. One way achieving this goal is using relational database by transforming XML data into relational format. But most researches only transformed content and structure of XML schema. Although they transformed semantic constrainment of XML schema, they did not all of semantics. In this paper, we propose a systematic technique for extracting semantic constrainment from XML schema and storing method when the extracting result is transformed into relational schema without any lost of semantic constrainment. The transforming algorithm is used for extracting and storing semantic constrainment from XML schema and it shows how extracted information is stored according to schema notation. Also it provides semantic knowledges that are needed to be confirmed during the transformation to ensure a correct relation schema. The technique can reduce storage redundancy and can keep up content and structure with integrity constraints.

  • The XML is emerging as standard language for data exchange on the Web. Therefore the demand of XML Schema(W3C XML Schema Spec.) that verifies XML document becomes increasing. However, XML Schema has a weak point for design because of its complication despite of various data and abundant expressiveness. This paper shows a simple way of design for XML Schema using a fundamental means for database design, the Entity-Relationship model. The conversion from the Entity-Relationship model to XML Schema can not be directly on account of discordance between the two models. So we present some algorithms to generate XML Schema from the Entity-Relationship model. The algorithms produce XML Schema codes using a hierarchical view representation. An important objective of this automatic generation is to preserve XML Schema's characteristics such as reusability, global and local ability, ability of expansion and various type changes.
