XML(1)이 인터넷 상의 메시지 교환 형식으로 활발히 이용되면서, XML을 이용하는 많은 응용에서는 이를 효율적으로 관리하기 위한 방법이 요구되었다. 이러한 요구에 발 맞추어 현재, XML 데이터의 관리를 위한 많은 연구(3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)가 진행 중에 있으나 아직까지는 어떤 방법이 XML 데이터의 관리를 위해 최적의 방법이라는 결론은 없는 실정이다 또한, 이러한 방법들을 실제 응용에 적용하기 위해서는 시스템 관리자가 XML 문서의 특성을 파악하고, 이를 기반으로 XML 데이터의 관리를 위해서 필요한 모든 모듈들을 개별적으로 개발하고 관리해야 한다. 이와 같은 방법은 응용의 측면에서 추가적인 비용과 노력을 추가해야 하는 부담이 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 앞서 언급한 요구사항들을 해결하기 위하여 고려하여 XML Schema to Relational Database Schema (XMLStoDBS)라는 XML문서를 제안하고, 이를 이용하여 응용에서 필요한 XML 데이터 관리 시스템을 자동으로 생성하기 위한 방법을 제안한다. XMLStoDBS는 응용에서 사용하고자 하는 XML Schema또는 DTD의 정보와 실제 데이터가 저장될 데이터베이스의 정보, 이 둘간의 사상관계를 표현하는 문서이다. 우리의 XMLStoDBS는 사용자가 응용에서 사용하고자 하는 XML Schema/DTD의 입력만으로 자동으로 생성되며, 응용에서는 이를 이용하여 응용에 필요한 XML 데이터 관리 시스템을 자동으로 생성할 수 있다.

XML 스키마가 등장하면서 DTD로는 할 수 없었던 부분이 스키마를 이용하여 세밀하게 설계한 수 있게 되었고, XML 스키마 설계가 DTD보파 한층 더 복잡하게 되었기 때문에 스키마 모델링이 중요한 문제로 대두된다. XML 스키마가 객체지향적이기 때문에 객체지향 설계의 표준인 UML(Unified Modeling Language)을 XML 스키마 설계에 이용한다. 본 논문은 XML 스키마 설계 후 응용 프로그램 개발 기반에서 개발을 시작하는 전반적인 응용 프로그램 개발 과정을 통하여 개발자에게 XML 스키마를 설계하고 바로 응용 프로그램 개발에 들어갈 수 있는 개발 방법을 제공하려고 한다. 본 논문은 OOAD UML Modeler를 이용하여 XML 스키마를 도입한 XML 기반의 XML CASE 툴을 설계하려고 한다. 이 XML CASE 툴은 DTD 기반의 XML 응용 프로그램 개발에서의 문제점을 XML 스키마를 도입함으로써 해결하고, 개발 단계에서 개발자가 XML 스키마를 설계하도록 제안하였다.

For having various applications, XML is widely used in various fields. But, there have not been proposed a system to integrate and manage XML and its applications together. In this paper, we propose methods to integrate web-based XML applications(SMIL, RDF, WIDL) and for object-oriented modeling of each DTD and document instance. We prppose and system to merge object modeling of XML applications. With the proposed integrating algorithm, we can not only easily analysis various web-based XML applications which is represented by complex tags but also generate object-oriented schema for each document and store it to OODBMS.

XML Schema which enables the second revolution of Internet with XML rapidly emerging as a standard for XML document structure modeling. XML Schema modeling has more complex structures and information than DTD modeling. In this reason, XML Schema modeling tool which has some more specialized functionalities others is needed. In this paper, we have developed the XML application development method called \"Design and develop\" and implemented the prototype system named XSD4j which supports UML based XML Schema modeling and provides a XML application development platform. Using XSD4j, developers can get an easy and conceptual schema modeling method, XML storage schema for XML document, and persistent DOM API which is a standard interface between document and application program.n program.

XML은 텍스트를 기반으로 하는 데이터 표현의 표준이다. 하지만, 이진 데이터 저장 방식에 비해 파일에 크기가 커서 자원을 적게 사용하는 편재형 컴퓨팅 환경에 적용하기 어려운 단점을 가진다. EXI는 XML의 형태는 그대로 유지하면서 파일의 크기를 줄이는 이진 XML 의 W3C 표준이다. 한 응용에서 사용하고 있는 XML 을 다른 응용에서 재사용하기 위해서는 변환이 필요하고, 일반적인 XML 문서의 변환에는 XSLT가 이용된다. 하지만, XSLT는 텍스트를 기반으로 하고 있어 EXI 포맷에 바로 적용할 수 없다. 본 논문은 자원을 적게 사용하는 편재형 컴퓨팅 환경에서 EXI 포맷 XML 문서의 재사용성을 높이기 위해 서로 다른 응용의 EXI 포맷 XML 문서의 변환 방법을 제안한다. 그리고, 다양한 응용환경 중 EXI 포맷의 XHTML 문서를 EXI 포맷의 VoiceXML로 변환하는 시스템을 보인다. 이는 자원이 적은 편재형 컴퓨팅 환경에서 EXI 포맷 XML 문서의 재사용성을 높이고 EXI 포맷 XML 활용에 기여할 수 있다.

XML and Web Services draw a lot of attention as standard technologies for data exchange and integration among heterogeneous platforms XML/A, which supports such technologies, is a SOAP based XML APl that facilitates data exchange between a client application and a data analysis engine through the Internet. The fact that the XML format is used for data exchange makes XML/A to be platform-independent. However. client application developers have to go through a tedious Job of treating the same type of XML documents fur downloading data from the server. Also, an XML query language is needed for extracting data from the XML documents sent by the server. In this paper, we present a high level client OLAP API, called DXML, for the client application developers in the windows environment to easily use the OLAP services of XML/A. XMLMD consists of properties and methods needed for OLAP application development. XMLMD is to XML/A what ADOMD is to OLEDB for OLAP. We also present a web OLAP cube browser that is developed using XMLMD. The browser display's data in various formats such as XML, HTML, Excel, and graph.

스마트 폰의 엄청난 보급으로 인해 모바일 시장은 큰 발전을 하고 있다. 그로 인한 기존의 웹 응용 프로그램을 서비스가 모바일 시장에 응용되고 있다. 매우 효율적이고, 널리 사용되는 데이터 교환 방식으로 XML과 JSON이 있다. 대부분의 경우, 서비스로 제공되는 데이터 교환 방식으로 XML을 제공한다. XML로 서비스되는 모바일 응용 프로그램은 JSON에 비해 전송량이 크다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 XML보다 경량화된 JSON으로 전달하여 효과적인 데이터 교환 방식을 제안한다.

XML은 기존 HTML의 한계를 극복할 수 있는 새로운 기술로 다양한 응용분야에 활용되고 있으며 많은 응용 제품들이 개발되고 있다. XML편집기, XSL편집기, XML브라우져, XML저장 관리기, XML문서 저장 관리기, XML문서 검색기, XML Conversion Tool등의 다양한 XML응용 프로그램에서 사용할 수 있는 표준 라이브러리 API인 DOM(Document Object Model)과 SAX(Simple API for XML)를 지원하며 XML문서의 모든 구성요소에 대한 처리를 할 수 있는 파서가 요구되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 다양한 응용 프로그램의 요구사항을 분석하고 이를 반영하여 처리할 수 있는 XML Toolkit모델을 제시한다. 본 XML Toolkit은 W3C XML 1.0스펙과 W3C Namespaces in XML스펙과 W3C DOM Level 1스펙을 지원하며 XML사용자 그룹에서 정의한 SAX를 지원한다. 또한 표준 API로 접근할 수 없거나 그 기능이 표준에서 정의되지 않은 추가 기능을 제공하기 위한 XML문서의 내부자료구조를 정의하고 이의 처리를 위한 API를 제공한다.

XML 관련 기술은 인터넷을 기반으로 하는 응용에서 데이터를 표현하는데 유용하게 활용되고 있으며 이에 따라 응용을 위한 관련 기술들이 개발되고 있다. 이 글에서는 XML을 이용하여 표현된 데이터를 전송하는데 이용되는 XML 프로토콜 관련 기술에 대하여 살펴보고 이를 기반으로 하는 응용 기술을 중심으로 관련 기술개발 동향을 살펴본다.

In a pervasive environment, there are various applications as much as connections of various devices. In this computing environment, XML is the most suitable data representation method. XML is able to transform data for other application areas using XSLT. XML is text-based, the file size of XML document is bigger than binary data file. Therefore, XML has a disadvantage that it is hard to deal with XML in a pervasive environment. In this paper, we survey encoding methods of XML documents, and then we propose a transform method that transforms an encoded EXI format XML document into an EXI format XML document suited for other applications. Among various applications, we present a system that transforms an EXI format XHTML document into an VoiceXML document. This system can improve reusability of EXI format XML documents in a pervasive environment and it is expected to contributes utilization of EXI format XML documents.
