Anomalous Enrichment of $Pb^+$Ions by Crossed Beam Scattering of a Pb($Zr_xTil_{1-x}O_3$) Plume and an $O_2$ Jet

  • A crossed beam scattering of a $Pb(ZrxTi1-x)O_3plume$ and an oxygen jetwas studied by using a time-of-flight quadrupole mass spectroscopy. Both simple collisions and reactive scatterings had significant effects on the transportand energetics of ions in the plume. Relative enrichment of metal and metal oxide ions was also changed with the oxygen pulse because of the differences in the mass and chemical properties of the ions. In particular, an anomalous increase ofPb+ ions was observed as the oxygen jet crossed the plume at high laserfluences, while the signal magnitudes of alI other ions were reduced. This originates from the fact that PbO+ ions dissociate easily to liberate Pb+ ions inthe plume since the bond energy of PbO+ is as low as 2.2 eV.

Design and Implementation of an Automated Fruit Quality Classification System

  • Most of fruit quality classification has been done by time consuming, inaccurate and intensive manual labor. This study proposed an automated fruit grading system based on appearances and internal flavors. In this study, image processing technique and a weight checker were used to measure the value of appearance features and the near infrared spectroscopy analysis method was used to estimate the value of internal flavors. Additionally, I suggested 8x8x5x5 ANN based fruit quality classifier model to grade fruits quality. The proposed automated fruit quality classification system is expected to be very beneficial for many farms where heavy manual labor is usually needed for fruit quality classification.

  • 본 논문은 $6kW/L(98W/in^3)$의 전력밀도를 갖는 xEV LDC를 위한 절연형 DC-DC컨버터의 설계 방법을 제안한다. 부피를 가장 많이 차지하는 수동소자의 부피를 줄이기 위해 GaN소자를 적용하여 스위칭 주파수를 700kHz를 적용하였다. 또한 자속 상쇄 개념이 적용된 매트릭스 평면 변압기를 적용하여 변압기의 부피를 크게 줄일 수 있었다. 본 논문에서는 후보 토폴로지들의 비교를 통해 고 전력 밀도에 가장 적합한 토폴로지를 선정하였으며, 자속상쇄 개념 기반의 매트릭스 평면 변압기를 설계방법을 제안하였다.

Nickel Substitution Effects on Nano-sized Co, Mn and MnZn Ferrites Synthesized by Sol-gel Method

  • Nickel substituted nano-sized ferrite powders, $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$, $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-2x}Zn_xNi_xFe_2O_4$ ($0.0{\leq}x{\leq}0.2$), were fabricated using a sol-gel method, and their crystallographic and magnetic properties were subsequently compared. The lattice constants decreased as quantity of nickel substitution increased, while the particle size decreased in $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ ferrite but increased for the $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-2x}Zn_xNi_xFe_2O_4$ ferrites. For the $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ ($0.0{\leq}x{\leq}0.2$) ferrite powders, the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra could be fitted as the superposition of two Zeeman sextets due to the tetrahedral and octahedral sites of the $Fe^{3+}$ ions. However, the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectrum of $Mn_{0.8}Zn_{0.1}Ni_{0.1}Fe_2O_4$ consisted of two Zeeman sextets and one single quadrupole doublet due to the ferrimagnetic and paramagnetic behavior. The area ratio of the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra could be used to determine the cation distribution equation, and we also explain the variation in the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ parameters by using this cation distribution equation, the superexchange interaction and the particle size. The saturation magnetization decreased in the $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-2x}Zn_xNi_xFe_2O_4$ ferrites but increased in the $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ ferrite with nickel substitution. The coercivity decreased in the $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-2x}Zn_xNi_xFe_2O_4$ ferrites but increased in the $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ ferrite with nickel substitution. These variations could thus be explained by using the site distribution equations, particle sizes and spin magnetic moments of the substituted ions.

Characteristics of (Sr,Ti)-doped $LaCrO_3$ Coating Layer for Ceramic Interconnect of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (고체산화물 연료전지용 (Sr,Ti) 도핑된 $LaCrO_3$계 세라믹 연결재 코팅층의 특성 연구)

  • 고전도성 세라믹 연결재용 $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}Cr_{1-x}Ti_xO_3$ (X=0.1 and 0.2) 연결재 재료의 소결도와 전기전도도에 대해서 연구하였다. 이러한 목적으로 $LaCrO_3$, $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}Cr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}O_3$ (LSCT82), $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}Cr_{0.9}Ti_{0.1}O_3$ (LSCT91) 분말들을 공침법을 통해 합성하였으며, 결정구조는 X-ray Diffraction(XRD)를 통해 확인하였다. 소결 특성은 주사 전자현미경을 통해 분석하였고 전기 전도도는 직렬 4-단자 법으로 측정하였다. 상대 밀도 분석으로부터 도핑된 $LaCrO_3$$LaCrO_3$보다 더 높은 소결성을 나타내었고, 입자 크기가 작을수록 소결성이 향상하는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 다양한 소결온도에서 얻은 LSC, LSTC 시편들의 XRD 결과는 LSC와 LSTC의 소결성이 2차상의 상전이와 밀접한 관련이 있다는 사실을 나타내었다. 다시 말해, LSTC는 $1300^{\circ}$이상 LSC는 $1400^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 2차상이 융해됨으로써 소결성을 현저하게 향상시킨다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 비슷한 상대밀도를 가진 LSC와 LSTC의 전기 전도도를 비교 측정한 결과, LSTC가 LSC보다 더 높은 전기 전도도를 나타낸다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Effects of barrier film on optical properties of quantum dot film (베리어 필름이 양자점 필름의 광특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Quantum dot efficiency was increased to evaluate reliability and optical characteristics using incidental materials. Quantum dot was manufactured by wrapping a sandwich type quantum layer using a product with a barrier property to prevent water and oxygen because it is vulnerable to oxygen and moisture. We used the three quantum dot films consisting of quantum dot only and quantum dot products consisting of film and barrier film combined with PET in the quantum dot product to evaluate the change over 650 hours under high temperature and high humidity conditions at 60℃ and 90 % humidity. As a result, the quantum dot product with Barrier Film has lowered luminance by 8 %, CIE x by 2 % and CIE y by 8 %. Quantum dot products exposed to moisture and oxygen were oxidized and measured low before measurement.

CU Depth Decision Based on FAST Corner Detection for HEVC Intra Prediction (HEVC 화면 내 예측을 위한 FAST 에지 검출 기반의 CU 분할 방법)

  • The High efficiency video coding (HEVC) is the newest video coding standard that achieves coding efficiency higher than previous video coding standards such as H.264/AVC. In intra prediction, the prediction units (PUs) are derived from a large coding unit (LCU) which is partitioned into smaller coding units (CUs) sizing from 8x8 to 64x64 in a quad-tree structure. As they are divided until having the minimum depth, Optimum CU splitting is selected in RDO (Rate Distortion Optimization) process. In this process, HEVC demands high computational complexity. In this paper, to reduce the complexity of HEVC, we propose a fast CU mode decision (FCDD) for intra prediction by using FAST (Features from Accelerated Segment Test) corner detection. The proposed method reduces computational complexity with 53.73% of the computational time for the intra prediction while coding performance degradation with 0.7% BDBR is small compared to conventional HEVC.

  • The authors studied chromosomal abnormalities in 38 autistic children meeting the diagnostic criteria of DSM-III-R in order to investigate genere factor in autistic disorder There were 28 males and 10 females, with the mean age being $108.8{\pm}28.5months(70-156months).$ All samples were analyzed on short-term lymphocyre cultures in Medium 199 that contained FUdR. The fragile X chromosome was not found in any of the patients. There were other chromosomal abnormalities in 14(36.8%) of 38 patients, such as breakage, 11cases ; gap, 2case ; breakage and gap, 1 case. In grouping of chromosomal abnormalities, group A patients were 4 cases ; group C were 3 cases ; group A and B was 1 case ; group A and E was 1 case ; group C and E was 1 case ; group A, B and C was 1 case. There were no statistical significance in the 16 symptoms of autistic disorder of DSM-III-R between patients with chromosomal abnormalities and patients without chromosomal abnormalites. These results do not support the hypothesis that fragile X chromosome is an etiological factor in autistic disorder.

X-band Low Phase Noise VCO Using Dual Coupled Spiral Resonator (Dual Coupled Spiral 공진기를 이용한 X-대역 저위상 잡음 전압 제어 발진기)

  • In this paper, a novel voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) has been presented by using the microstrip square multiple spiral resonator for reducing the phase noise of VCO. The microstrip multiple square resonator has the large coupling coefficient value, which makes a high Q value, and has reduced phase noise of VCO. The VCO with 1.8 V power supply has phase noise of -115.0~-117.34 dBc/Hz @100 kHz in the tuning range, 8.935~9.4 GHz. When it has been compared with microstrip square multiple spiral resonator and coventional spiral resonator, the reduced Q value has been -32.7 dB and -57.6 dB respectively. This low phase noise VCO could ve available to a VCO in X-band.

Parallel Data Extraction Architecture for High-speed Playback of High-density Optical Disc (고용량 광 디스크의 고속 재생을 위한 병렬 데이터 추출구조)

  • When an optical disc is being played. the pick-up converts light to analog signal at first. The analog signal is equalized for removing the inter-symbol interference and then the equalized analog signal is converted into the digital signal for extracting the synchronized data and clock signals. There are a lot of algorithms that minimize the BER in extracting the synchronized data and clock when high. density optical disc like BD is being played in low speed. But if the high-density optical disc is played in high speed, it is difficult to adopt the same extraction algorithm to data PLL and PRML architecture used in low speed application. It is because the signal with more than 800MHz should be processed in those architectures. Generally, in the 0.13-${\mu}m$ CMOS technology, it is necessary to have the high speed analog cores and lots of efforts to layout. In this paper, the parallel data PLL and PRML architecture, which enable to process in BD 8x speed of the maximum speed of the high-density optical disc as the extracting data and clock circuit, is proposed. Test results show that the proposed architecture is well operated without processing error at BD 8x speed.
