Preparation and characterization of magnetic nanoparticles with two kinds of core/shell structures (핵/껍질 구조를 가진 두 종류의 자기 나노입자의 제조와 특성비교)

  • Magnetic Fe-Co(C) nanocapsules and Fe-Co nanoparticles were prepared by arc-discharge in two kinds of atmospheres, i.e. methane and a mixture of ($H_2$+Ar), respectively. Characterization and magnetic properties of this two kinds of ultrafine particles were investigated systematically by means of X-ray diffraction, Mssbauer spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, energy disperse spectroscopy analysis, chemical analysis, oxygen determination and magnetization measurement. Effects of carbon element, decomposed from a methane atmosphere in carbon arc process, on phase structures, magnetic states and surface characterization were studied in comparison to that of Ar element. Two ultrafine particles showed a little difference in the weight ratio of (Fe/co) and the size for Fe-Co nanoparticles was about two times bigger than Fe-Co(C) nanocapsules. The saturation magnetization of Fe-Co (C) nanocapsules was about 8% higher than that of Fe-Co nanoparticles while their phase constitutions were similar. Although no carbon could be detected by XRD measurement because of extremely thin shells on the surfaces of the cores, it is still believed that they are carbon and oxygen layers.

X-band Compact Digital Phase Shifter Design (X 대역 소형 디지털 위상 천이기 설계)

  • In this paper, a compact digital phase shifter to be used an active phased array antenna system for satellite communications was proposed. The even and odd mode analysis for a given reflection-type phase shifter, which uses a folded hybrid coupler as a base element, was performed and the design parameters were derived. Also, to verify experimentally the electrical performances of the proposed structure, X-band 4-bit digital phase shifter was designed and fabricated using Teflon soft substrate $({\varepsilon}_r; =\;2.17)$. Its circuit size was less than 3.5 cm $\times$ 3.0 cm, and it exhibited at least 50 % size reduction as compared with the conventional unfolded configuration. The experimental results of the fabricated phase shifter showed that the average insertion loss and insertion loss variation were less than 3.5 dB, $\pm$ 0.6 dB within the operating band, 7.9 ~ 8.4 GHz, respectively. And, input and output return loss were more than 10 dB, respectively. Also, the phase response of the phase shifter showed 4-bit operation with $\pm$3$^{\circ}$ rms phase error.

Characteristic for the Near Field of Rectangle Loop Antenna using Optical Electric-Field Sensor (광전계 센서를 이용한 구형 Loop Antenna의 근접전계 특성)

  • In this paper, in order to investigate the near field distribution characteristic of the Loop Antenna we simulated and measured the near field of a Loop Antenna using optical electric-field sensor in a large Chamber(8.5 m x 7 m x 7 m). The simulation methods were used MoM for frequency domain and FDTD for time domain. From the analysis results, it can be seen that the simulation and measurement results are very aggregated, and the optical electric-field sensor is a certificate of validity. In frequency domain, in case of the optical sensor with vertical polarization is located above the near vertical line of the Loop Antenna the signal strength level is more 15 ㏈ than with horizontal polarization. But in case of the optical sensor located above horizontal line of the Loop Antenna, signal strength level is not different. And, in the time domain, although input signal is positive, in the case of the optical sensor with vertical polarization is located above horizontal line of the Loop Antenna, it can be seen that the received pulse shape is negative.

T/R Module Development for X-Band Active Phased-Array Radar (능동 위상 배열 레이더용 X-대역 T/R 모듈 개발)

  • This paper presents design and test results of X-Band Transmit/Receive(T/R) module for active phased-array radar. Active phased array radars typically require solid state T/R modules with high output power, low noise figure, high Third Order Intercept(TOI), and sufficient gain in both transmit and receive. The output power of the module is 9 watts over a wide bandwidth. The noise figure is as low as 2.8 dB. Phase and amplitude are controlled by the 6-bit phase shifter and 5-bit attenuator, respectively. Highly integrated T/R module is achieved by using LTCC(Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) multiple layer substrate. The module incorporates a compact digital interface, requires only three supply voltages.

Linear Characteristics Improvement of X-band TWT Amplifier for Satellite Communication with Linearizer (선형화기를 이용한 위성통신용 X-밴드 TWT 증폭기 선형특성 개선)

  • This paper has analyzed the AM-AM and AM-PM characteristics of 7.9 GHz~8.4 GHz X-band TWT used for satellite communication and improved its linearity and IMD performance by using linearizer. The TWT amplifier with the linearizer shows better AM-AM and AM-PM conversion, and has increased 1 dB compression point by 12.3 dB and $2.0^{\circ}/dB$ phase distortion point by 10 dB. The 3rd order intermodulation distortion, IMD3 is measured to be 37.0 dBc that is 16.2 dB improvement at the operating output. This paper also proposed the measurement method of IMD for high power amplifier, and that TWT amplifier can have better linearity and output power by compensating for the AM-PM characteristics.

  • $Cu(In_{1-x}Ga_{x})Se_2$(CIGS)는 매우 큰 광흡수계수를 가지고 있으므로 박막형 태양전지의 광흡수층 재료로서 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 박막이 태양전지의 광흡수층으로 이용되기 위해서는 큰 결정크기와 평탄한 표면, 적당한 전기적 특성을 가져야 한다. 이러한 특성들은 CIGS 박막의 조성에 큰 영향을 받고 있는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 동시증발법을 이용하여 Cu/(In+Ga) 비를 0.9로 고정한 후 Ga 조성(Ga/(In+Ga)의 비 : 0.32, 0.49, 0.69, 0.8, 1)을 변화시켜 Wide band gap CIGS 박막태양전지를 만들었다. 기판은 soda line glass를 사용하였고 뒷면 전극으로는 Mo를 스퍼터링법으로 증착하였다. 또한 버퍼층으로는 기존에 쓰이고 있는 CdS를 CBD(Chemical Bath Deposition)법으로 층착시켰으며, 윈도우층으로는 i-ZnO/n-ZnO를 스파터링 법으로 층착하였다. 그리고 앞면전극으로는 Al을 E-beam 으로 증착하였다. 분석은 XRD, SEM, QE로 분석하였다. 위 실험에서 얻은 결과로는 Ga/(In+Ga)비가 증가할수록 Cu(In,Ga)Se2 박막은 회절 peak들이 큰 회절각으로 이동하였고, 이것은 Ga 원자와 In 원자의 원자반경의 차이에서 기인된 것으로 사료된다. 또한 Ga 조성이 증가할수록 단파장 쪽으로 이동하는 것을 볼 수 있으며, Voc가 증가하다가 에너지 밴드캡이 1.62 eV 이상에서는 Voc가 감소하는 것을 볼 수 있는데 이것은 Ga 조성이 증가할수록 에너지 밴드캡이 커지면서 defect level 이 존재하기 때문인 것으로 사료된다. Ga/(In+Ga)비가 1일 때의 변환효율은 8.5 %이고, Voc : 0.74 (V), Jsc : 17.2 ($mA/cm^{2}$), F.F : 66.6(%) 이다.

X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopic Study of 120 MeV $Ag^{9+}$ Ion-Irradiated N-Doped ZnO Thin Films

  • We report the electronic structure modification in the swift heavy ion (SHI) irradiated N-doped ZnO thin films prepared by RF sputtering from ZnO target in different ratio of Ar/$N_2$ gas mixture using highly pure $N_2$ gas. The different N-ZnO thin lms were then irradiated with 120 MeV Ag ion beam with different doses ranging from $1{\times}10^{11}$ to $5{\times}10^{12}$ ions/$cm^2$ and characterized by XRD and near edge X-ray absorption ne structure (NEXAFS) at N and O K-edges. The NEXAFS measurements provide direct evidence of O 2p and Zn 3d orbital hybridization and also the bonding of N ions with Zn and O ions. The minimum value of resistivity of $790{\Omega}cm$, a Hall mobility of $22cm^2V^-1s^-1$ and the carrier concentration of $3.6{\times}10^{14}cm^{-3}$ were yielded at 75% $N_2$. X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements revealed that N-doped ZnO films had the preferential orientation of (002) plane for all samples, while crystallinity start decreasing at 32.5% $N_2$. The average crystallite size varies from 5.7 to 8.2 nm for 75% and then decreases to 7.8 nm for 80% $Ar:N_2$ ratio.

A Study on Estimation of Air Pollutants Emission from Wood Stove and Boiler, Wood-pellet Stove and Boiler (화목난로∙보일러와 펠릿난로∙보일러 사용에 의한 대기오염물질 배출량 산정에 관한 연구)

  • Biomass burning is one of the significant emission source of PM and CO, but a few studies are reported in Korea. Air pollutants emission from biomass burning such as wood stove and boiler, and wood-pellet stove and boiler were estimated in this study. Activity levels related to biomass burning such as fuel types, amount of fuel loading, and location and temporal variation were investigated by field survey over Korea. Fuel loadings were 14.9 kg/day for wood stove, 31.3 kg/day for wood boiler, 12.8 kg/day for wood-pellet stove, 32.5 kg/day for wood-pellet boiler during the season of active use. These were mostly burned in winter season from october to april of next year. Estimated annual emissions from wood stove & boiler were CO 76,677, $NO_x$ 710, $SO_x$ 70, VOC 20,941, TSP 6,605, PM10 2,921, PM2.5 1,851, and NH3 7 ton/yr, respectively. Emissions from wood-pellet stove and boiler were CO 32,798, $NO_x$ 1,830, $SO_x$ 25, VOCs 5,673, TSP 629, PM10 457, PM2.5 344, and $NH_3$ 2 ton/yr, respectively. When the emission estimates are compared with total emissions of the national emission inventory (CAPSS: Clean Air Policy Support System), Those occupy 12.5%, 2.8% of total national emission for CO and PM10, respectively. These results show wood and wood-pellet burning appliances were one of the major source of air pollution in Korea. In future, these types of heaters need to be regulated to reduce air pollution, especially in suburb area.

Inhibitory Effect of Nisin upon Kimchi Fermentation (김치발효에 대한 Nisin의 저해효과)

  • To examine the inhibitory effect of nisin on Kimchi, comparison of the fermentation pattern was studied between the Kimchi added nisin (100 WIg) and the control Kimchi at 15cC. The Kimchi added nisin was showed pH 4.03 at 7 days fermentation, on the other hand the control Kimchi showing pH 4.04 at 5 days. And total acidity (lactic acid%) showed 0.47,0.69,0.88 at 5,9, 14 days fermentation compared with the control Kimchi showing 0.57,0.93, 1.13 respectively. Maximum growth of lactic acid bacteria on the control Kimchi indicated 1.8, 1.6 x 108 CFU/ml at 7 days but on presence of nisin indicated 9.5,6.4 x 107 CFU/ml at 5 days. In conclusion, nisin showed inhibitory action to Kimchi fermentation from pH, total activity and lactic acid bacteria count results.

Multipaction Sensitivity Analysis of X-band Output Filter for Geostationary Satellite (정지궤도위성 X-대역 출력필터 멀티팩션 민감도 해석)

  • In this paper, prior to the flight model X-band dual-mode circular cavity filter required for the high power transmission of the observation payload in the geostationary satellite, the development model are designed and analyzed to show the analytical multipactor requirement margin. First of all, the multipaction breakdown power sensitivities were analyzed by changing the iris width and thickness within the filter, and through that the iris width and thickness was selected and then the multipaction threshold powers over the frequencies within the bandwidth were analyzed and the required margin of 8 dB was obtained. Also for the high power transmission filter, another important phenomena known as corona breakdown are analyzed for the iris width and thickness changes. Finally the development model manufactured was tested and the results met the key requirements.
