Induction motors are critical components in industrial processes since their failure usually lead to an unexpected interruption at the industrial plant. The studies of induction motor behavior during abnormal conditions and the possibility to diagnose different types of faults have been a challenging topic for many electrical machine researchers. In this regard, an efficient and new method to detect the induction motor-fault may be the application of the Time Synchronous Averaging (TSA) to the stator current Park's Vector. The aim of this paper is to present a methodology by which defects in a three-phase wound rotor induction motor can be diagnosed. By exploiting the cyclostationarity characteristics of electrical signals, the TSA method is applied to the stator current Park's Vector, allowing the monitoring of the induction motor operation. Simulation and experimental results are presented in order to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. The obtained results are largely satisfactory, indicating a promising industrial application of the hybrid Park's Vector-TSA approach.

The Park's vector of stator current is a popular technique for the detection of induction motor faults. While the detection of the faulty condition using the Park's vector technique is easy, the classification of different types of faults is intricate. This problem is overcome by the Multiple Park's Vector (MPV) approach proposed in this paper. In this technique, the characteristic fault frequency component (CFFC) of stator winding faults, rotor winding faults, unbalanced voltage and bearing faults are extracted from three phase stator currents. Due to constructional asymmetry, under the healthy condition these characteristic fault frequency components are unbalanced. In order to balanced them, a correction factor is added to the characteristic fault frequency components of three phase stator currents. Therefore, the Park's vector pattern under the healthy condition is circular in shape. This pattern is considered as a reference pattern under the healthy condition. According to the fault condition, the amplitude and phase of characteristic faults frequency components changes. Thus, the pattern of the Park's vector changes. By monitoring the variation in multiple Park's vector patterns, the type of fault and its severity level is identified. In the proposed technique, the diagnosis of faults is immune to the effects of unbalanced voltage and multiple faults. This technique is verified on a 7.5 hp three phase wound rotor induction motor (WRIM). The experimental analysis is verified by simulation results.
In this paper, a three-phase induction machine-based wind power generation scheme is proposed. This scheme uses a low-cost diode bridge rectifier circuit connected to an induction machine via an ac load voltage regulator (AC-LVR) to regulate dc power transfer. The AC-LVR is used to regulate the DC load voltage of the diode bridge rectifier circuit which is connected to the three-phase self-excited induction generator (SEIG). The excitation of the three-phase SEIG is supplied by the static VAR compensator (SVC). This simple method for obtaining a full variable-speed wind turbine system by applying a back-to-back power converter to a wound rotor induction generator is useful for wind power generation at widely varying speeds. The dynamic performance responses and the experimental results of connecting a 5kW 220V three-phase SEIG directly to a diode bridge rectifier are presented for various loads. Moreover, the steady-state simulated and experimental results of the PI closed-loop feedback voltage regulation scheme prove the practical effectiveness of these simple methods for use with a wind turbine system.
This paper introduce the electrical quantities of a three-phase-connected wind induction generator (WIG) under sudden connection of static loads. An intelligent power-system recorder/monitor is employed to measure threephase voltages and currents of the studied system at WIG's terminals and load's terminals for 5 minutes. A laboratory 300 W wound-rotor induction machine driven by a blushless DC motor is utilized as the studied WIG. Since the generated harmonic currents are randomly varied, total harmonic distortion (THD) of current using cumulative probability density function is employed to determine the penetration of harmonic distortion. The results show that the harmonic currents generated by the studied WIG may be severely amplified to a high level by the connected self-excited capacitance at the stator's terminals.

The induction motor is widely used in the power equipments of the ship and the various industrial drive applications because it is robust and relatively simple and cheap to manufacture, but it has a disadvantage that the speed of induction motor is not controlled in wide range such as d.c motor. In this paper, the characteristics relating to the Kramer system that the speed of three phase wound type induction motor is controlled by changing the exciting e.m.f. of the secondary circuit is described. In order to analyze the characteristics, a new simplified and approximated T-type equivalent circuit from the Kramer circuit with three phase graetz connection and d.c machine is proposed. The stator current, motor torque and mechanical output power are computed by the current, torque and power equations derived by its equivalent circuit. Through the experiments, the $I_f-N$, torque-slip and current-slip characteristic curves of the tested motor are obtained and the various needed constants are determined. The numerical values obtained from the above method are compared with experimental values under the same conditions. As a result of the above investigation, it is found that the induction motor speed by the Kramer system is controlled by 28 per cent under the rated speed by changing the field current of d.c motor and the values computed by the current and torque equations derived by the simplified and approximated T-type equivalent circuit generally come to approach the experimental values.

The employment of the induction generator is preferable in the natural energy utilization by the minimum maintenance and the mechanical robustness, Another merit is also expected when it is connected to the power network system, because constant-voltage and constant frequency (CVCF) power generation is easily realized in spite of the variation of the rotor speed. However the induction generator needs much amount of the reactive power that reduces power factor in the primary side. The improvement of power factor in the primary side requires large VAR compensator, this point is solved, the merit of the induction machine as a main generator will become more established. This paper proposes a novel approach where the secondary is controlled by a PWM inverter not only to get CVCF power but also to improve the primary power factor. Basically the inverter is controlled so that the field current is supplied from the secondary side in this approach. The required capacity of the inverter is small, because only the slip power is controlled in the secondary side. In the experimental system where the sea wave torque simulator is used, the power factor is well improved by the microcomputer controlled PWM inverter.
The hydrolysis of proteins constitutes an invaluable tool, granting access to a variety of peptide fragments with potentially interesting biological properties. Therefore, a hemoglobin (Hb) hydrolysate of Crocodylus siamensis was generated by digestion under acidic conditions. The antibacterial and antioxidant activities of the Hb hydrolysate were assessed in comparison with intact Hb. A disc diffusion assay revealed that the Hb hydrolysate exhibited antibacterial activity against eight strains of gram-positive bacteria and showed a higher efficacy than intact Hb. Moreover, the antioxidant activity of intact Hb and its hydrolysate was evaluated using ABTS and DPPH radical scavenging assays. The Hb hydrolysate exhibited free radical scavenging rates of 6-32%, whereas intact Hb showed a slightly higher activity. In addition, non-toxicity to human erythrocytes was observed after treatment with quantities of Hb hydrolysate up to $10{\mu}g$. Moreover, active fragmented Hb (P3) was obtained after purifying the Hb hydrolysate by reversed-phase HPLC. Scanning electron microscopy demonstrated the induction of bacterial cell membrane abnormalities after exposure to P3. Antibacterial and antioxidant activities play crucial roles for supporting the wound healing activity. Consequently, an in vivo mice excisional skin wound healing assay was carried out to investigate the effects of intact Hb treatment on wound healing in more detail. The results clearly demonstrate that intact Hb is capable of promoting 75% wound closure within 6 days. These findings imply that intact Hb of C. siamensis and its acid hydrolysate may serve as valuable precursors for food supplementary products benefitting human health.
Catechin (CTEC) is well-known as a very powerful antioxidant, containing the effects of anti-inflammation and skin wound healing. In this study, CTEC/${\beta}$-cyclodextrin (${\beta}$-CD) nanoparticles were incorporated into poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/pectin (PT) hydrogel. The composite was designed for the induction of re-epithelializaton in skin wound. CTEC/${\beta}$-CD nanoparticles were prepared by a molecular complex method. The size of the CTEC nanoparticles formed in the hydrogel was in the range of $250{\pm}17.5$ nm. The incorporation efficiency of CTEC in the nanoparticles was 74%. The cumulative amounts of CTEC released from the hydrogel containing CTEC nanoparticles in the buffers of pH7.4 and 5.5 were $86.51{\pm}3.14%$ and $35.95{\pm}2.14%$ of total CTEC loaded in the hydrogel within 72 h, respectively. Also, in the wound healing test, the CTEC nanoparticles-loaded PVA/PT hydrogel showed faster healing of the wound made in rat dorsum than the CTEC gel.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Re-epithelialization has an important role in skin wound healing. Astaxanthin (ASX), a carotenoid found in crustaceans including shrimp, crab, and salmon, has been widely used for skin protection. Therefore, we investigated the effects of ASX on proliferation and migration of human skin keratinocyte cells and explored the mechanism associated with that migration. MATERIAL/METHOD: HaCaT keratinocyte cells were exposed to $0.25-1{\mu}g/mL$ of ASX. Proliferation of keratinocytes was analyzed by using MTT assays and flow cytometry. Keratinocyte migration was determined by using a scratch wound-healing assay. A mechanism for regulation of migration was explored via immunocytochemistry and western blot analysis. RESULTS: Our results suggest that ASX produces no significant toxicity in human keratinocyte cells. Cell-cycle analysis on ASX-treated keratinocytes demonstrated a significant increase in keratinocyte cell proliferation at the S phase. In addition, ASX increased keratinocyte motility across the wound space in a time-dependent manner. The mechanism by which ASX increased keratinocyte migration was associated with induction of filopodia and formation of lamellipodia, as well as with increased Cdc42 and Rac1 activation and decreased RhoA activation. CONCLUSIONS: ASX stimulates the migration of keratinocytes through Cdc42, Rac1 activation and RhoA inhibition. ASX has a positive role in the re-epithelialization of wounds. Our results may encourage further in vivo and clinical study into the development of ASX as a potential agent for wound repair.

The experiment was conducted to validate anti-inflammatory effects of pinitol from bean. It was evaluated for some molecule targets by wound healing assay and RT-PCR. The results of wound healing assay was shown dose-dependent inhibition of cell migration in cancer cells and inhibited RNA expression of ICAM-1, CD 44, MMP-17, MMP-14 and ARF2. Immune suppression activity in a mouse provoked by DNFB observed that inflammatory reaction with pinitol were reduced ear swelling and inflammatory cells infiltration in mouse atopic models. The result confirmed that pinitol have the effect of dose-dependent immune suppression activity.
