  • The cost of simulation modeling, the expertise required, and the pains of starting a new each time are impediments to more wide spread adoption of simulation technology. In addition, one of the most critical problems in the field of computer simulation today is the lack of published models and physical objects within the World Wide Web (WWW) allowing such distribution. From the viewpoint of WWW as distributed model repositories, it can be assumed that very many simulation models exist on the web. This paper is based on the premise that WWW is a distributed repository. Design Pattern, web-oriented technology like Java and CORBA, which are especially to cope with distributed objects, are introduced and discussed in detail for integration of simulation model. In this paper an architecture of model integration is proposed, which presents the whole procedure of model integration and how the Internet technologies are connected in. The central focus of this research is on the technical realization of integrating simulation models as distributed objects

  • With advancement of computer and network, world wide web(WWW) as a medium of information communication is generalized in many fields. In educational aspect, applications of WWW as alternative media for class teachings or printed matters are increasing. In this article, we demonstrate a web-based electronic text on the 'probability and statistics' which is one of six fields of mathematics in the 7th curriculum. This text places importance on comprehension of concepts of probability and statistics as an applied science.

  • This paper introduces a simulation design decision support system to support the development process of the pipeline network and provide decision support to the operations of the gas pipelines. The system has been implemented on Flash5, which has a multimedia capabilities environment for designing and delivering low- bandwidth animations, presentations, and web sites. It also offers scripting capabilities and server-side connectivity fur creating applications and web interfaces. Hence a user can interact with the system on the World Wide Web.

  • Web 2.0은 사용자가 온라인에서 정보를 구축하고 공유하게 하는 World Wide Web 상의 2세대 서비스이다. Web 2.0 페이지에서는 사용자가 키워드인 태그를 이용하여 웹페이지나 인터넷상의 오브젝트를 분류하게 되는데 이를 Folksonomy 라 한다. Folksonomy 는 정보를 공동 작업으로 모으고 공유하는 사용자들에 의한 분류기법으로 Taxonomy 와는 다르며 장단점을 지니고 있다. 이 논문에서는 Folksonomy 의 단점중의 하나인 동의어 처리를 위하여 Wordnet 을 접목시킨 검색 기법을 제안한다.

An Adaptive Cache Replacement Policy for Web Proxy Servers (웹 프락시 서버를 위한 적응형 캐시 교체 정책)

  • The explosive increase of World Wide Web usage has incurred significant amount of network traffic and server load. To overcome these problems, web proxy caching replicates frequently requested documents in the web proxy closer to the users. Cache utilization depends on the replacement policy which tries to store frequently requested documents in near future. Temporal locality and Zipf frequency distribution, which are commonly observed in web proxy workloads, are considered as the important properties to predict the popularity of documents. In this paper, we propose a novel cache replacement policy, called Adaptive LFU (ALFU), which incorporates 1) Zipf frequency distribution by utilizing LFU and 2) temporal locality adaptively by measuring the amount of the popularity reduction of documents as time passed efficiently. We evaluate the performance of ALFU by comparing it to other policies via trace-driven simulation. Experimental results show that ALFU outperforms other policies.

Development of a Real Time 3D Collaboration and Part Information Brokering System Using WWW(World Wide Web) (웹을 이용한 실시간 3차원 공동작업 부품정보중개시스템 개발)

  • We developed a Part Information Brokering System, namely PIBS, that can inter-link part suppliers and buyers using WWW(World Wide Web). The major contribution of this paper is that the system provides a 3D collaboration environment that enables multiple users to share the same workspace where they cooperatively manipulate part features in real time. PIBS carries out two major functions: one to maintain part data in a part library, and the other to provide the means for the clients to cooperate. An object-oriented database is used for the part library which stores apart information registered by part suppliers. VRML(Virtual Reality Modeling Language) the ISO standard for 3D visualization on WWW, is used to represent 3D part models. Several Java programs have been implemented to support synchronous and a synchronous communication of the 3D models. Once the users are interconnected through the system, a user's manipulation of part objects is transparently and instantaneously transmitted to the others. This means that all the participants can are the same view and movement of the 3D part models. Since the system is developed using a Java applet-server architecture, it requires no additional software other than standard web browser. The prototype system has been successfully implemented, and demonstrated its applicability to virtual 3D part information sharing.

  • Recently, internet applications for efficient cyber education have drawn much interests. The world-wide web provides new opportunities for cyber education over the internet. This paper presents a virtual lab system which can be used on the world-wide web. The proposed virtual lab system provides the improved learning methods which can enhance the educational efficiency in engineering experiments. If the students enter the virtual lab system on the web, they can make an experiment on basic electrical and electronic principles through simple mouse manipulation. Since proposed virtual lab system is implemented to describe the actual lab system, the students can obtain similar experimental data through it. Several sample Java applets are illustrated as examples.

The Continuous Service Usage Intention in the Web Analytics Services

  • The World Wide Web (WWW) has continued to grow at very rapid speed in both the sheer volume of traffic and size and the complexity of Web sites. Web Analytics Industry also has been growing rapidly. Web Analytics is to analyze web log files to discover accessing patterns of web pages. In this paper, we identify factors which can affect the continuous usage intention of a firm using services in web analytics services and empirically validate the relationships between the identified factors. For this purpose, we analyze 174 Korea firms. The analysis results show that the satisfaction is significantly associated with service quality and switching cost and the service usage period is not significantly associated with continuous service usage intention. We measure the service quality using SERVQUAL. It turn out that two dimensions of SERVQUAL, reliability and empathy are significantly associated with satisfaction, but another dimension of SERVQUAL, responsibility, is not. Finally, satisfaction is significantly associated with continuous service usage intention.
