  • 본 논문은 이용자지향그래픽인터페이스와 멀티미디어 환경을 지원해주는 인터넷상의 WWW(World Wide Web)를 이용하여 화상정보검색시스템을 구현하였다. 미술작품을 대상으로 미술정보의 특성을 고려하여 화상정보와 서지정보를 데이터화하였고 화상정보 검색시스템에 관한 이론적인 연구를 기반으로 하여 실제로 시스템을 구축함으로써 미래의 전자박물관 및 전자 미술관의 가능성을 제시하였다.

  • WWW(World Wide Web)은 인터넷에서 가장 널리 사용되고 있는 서비스 중의 하나로써 인터 넷 초기에는 일부의 계층에서 주로 교육, 연구용으로 사용하여 왔으나, 현재는 일반 사용자 계층에까지 파고들고 있다. 일반 사용자들의 참여로 인해 이제는 WWW가 상업용으로까지 이용되고 있는 실정이므로 안전한 WWW 통신의 구현이 필수적이다. 본 고에서는 안전한 WWW구축에 필요한 보안 요구사항들을 살펴보고, WWW에서 기본적으로 제공되는 보안 메카니즘과 현재 연구 개발중인 보안 기법들을 소개한다.

Web Prefetching Scheme for Efficient Internet Bandwidth Usage (효율적인 인터넷 대역폭 사용을 위한 웹 프리페칭 기법)

  • As the number of World Wide Web (Web) users grows, Web traffic continues to increase at an exponential rate. Currently, Web traffic is one of the major components of Internet traffic. Also, high bandwodth usage due to Web traffic is observed during peak periods while leaving bandwidth usage idle during off-peak periods. One of the solutions to reduce Web traffic and speed up Web access is through the use of Web caching. Unfortunately, Web caching has limitations for reducing network bandwidth usage during peak periods. In this paper, we focus our attention on the use of a prefetching algorithm for reducing bandwidth during peak periods by using off-peak period bandwidth. We propose a statistical, batch, proxy-side prefetching scheme that improves cache hit rate while only requiring a small amount of storage. Web objects that were accessed many times in previous 24 hours but would be expired in the next 24 hours, are selected and prefetched in our scheme. We present simulation results based on Web proxy and show that this prefetching algorithm can reduce peak time bandwidth using off-peak bandwidth.

  • Computers and communication technologies have been brought tremendous change to various aspects of an ever-fast changing world at present. Particularly, the use of internet and cyberspace is widespread in every comer of our life. We developed a cyber shell museum using an animation technology. It was developed for educational purposes, and accessible through the world wide web of internet. Cyber shell museum is consisted of five compartment including rare shells, marvelous shells, shell of the world, the shell of Korea and its story of shells. The database contains the pictures and related information of the shell and it implies not only animation display but also text information. The files of database were classified depending on the species, genus, family, order, and class and division of the shell. Picture of shells is displayed and user may reach the image and virtual view information by clicking through the object displayed. This provides multiple techniques to user may manipulate, visualize and interact with image on the web. And every such transformation as translation, rotation, and scaling can be applied in the picture interactively for the convenient and effective viewing.

  • The purpose of this research is to develop a collaborative architectural design system. Design collaboration requires an extensive use of communication methods as well as the participation of various experts from different domains. Such facts address several issues when the Internet and digital media are able to create a completely new work environment. The building design process was studied, and possible modes of design collaboration were defined. A prototype system is being developed in accordance with the defined collaboration model. The system integrates a set of communication tools and web-based design media. Such media include a synchronous multi-user web CAD tool, a schematic 3D design tool, and a electronic whiteboard. A project database was designed in order to coordinate the project-wide communication which elaborates technologies such as web-based data access. In order to find out the effectiveness of the system, a usability test was performed both in quantitative and qualitative manner. The research will contribute to the development of world-wide design and construction collaboration through the Internet, which is becoming a mainstream building process model.

  • XML (extensible Markup Language) is selected and published as a representative standard of electronic documents by W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). The structured information can be created and also transferred in XML documents. By utilizing XML, you can express the meaningful information unit as a structure comparing existed file typed information. With structured information, you can also manage retrieve, and reposit documents. According to the above facts, in this paper, it is the purpose to design and implement XML documents repository system to reposit and retrieve using structured information of XML documents. As a model it was designed to be stored by element unit which is the basic unit of documents and was also designed to retrieve the stored XML information by structured unit. It was, especially, designed to manage and reposit the structure of various documents effectively through creating schema as to DTD(Document Type Definition) and instance.

  • Traditional queueing analyses are very useful for designing a network's capacity and predicting there performances, however most of the predicted results from the queueing analyses are quite different from the realistic measured performance. And recent empirical studies on LAN, WAN and VBR traffic characteristics have indicated that the models used in the traditional Poisson assumption can't properly predict the real traffic properties due to under estimation of the long range dependence of network traffic and self-similarity In this parer self-similar characteristics over statistical approaches and real time network traffic measurements are estimated It is also shown that the self- similar traffic reflects network traffic characteristics by comparing source model.
