  • WWW(World Wide Web)의 개발 이래 내 컴퓨터 안에만 존재하는 워드와 한글 등의 문서들은 네트워크를 타고 지구 어딘가에 있는 누군가의 모니터에 디스플레이되고 있다. 그러나 컴퓨터 기술은 이와 같은 단순한 HTML파일을 보여주기보다 방명록이나 동영상처럼 동적으로, 실시간으로 정보를 보여주는 수준으로 진화해야 했다. 이러한 기술을 처음으로 가능하게 한 것이 CGI 기술이다. 초기의 CGI 기술은 성능상의 문제로 개발과 발전을 거듭해 현재의 FastCGI나 mod_perl과 같은 기술이 제안되었다. 그러나 FastCGI나 mod_perl도 아직은 동적 정보를 제공하는 완벽한 기술은 아니며 각각 장단점을 지니고 있다. 본 논문에서는 각 기술의 장단점을 살펴보고 이들의 장점을 통합한 개선된 CGI기술을 제안한다.

Web Traffic Analysis according to the Link-down Duration of TCP and SCTP (링크다운 시간에 따른 TCP와 SCTP의 웹 트래픽 분석)

  • The most popular world wide web traffic in the Internet uses TCP as the transport layer protocol. Since TCP utilizes the single path, it can not communicate with the correspondent host during the link-down. On the other hand, SCTP can still communicate with the other SCTP entity by using alternate path even while the primary path is down. Most of previous studies have conducted the performance comparison research between TCP and SCTP by using typical file transfer. Since web traffic with self-similarity is characterized by the packet inter-arrival times and shape parameter affecting the size of web file in the Pareto distribution, it is necessary to perform the experiments considering these parameters. This paper aims to compare the throughput between TCP and SCTP while varying parameters reflecting the web traffic characteristics in link-down environment. Experimental results for web traffic using NS-2 simulator show that the throughput of SCTP using multi-homing is better than that of TCP. Simulation also shows that TCP is more affected than SCTP by mean inter-arrival and shape parameters with regard to the web traffic. These results can be applied to estimate the performance variation of web traffic due to the duration of link-down.

  • Web 3.0 is the next-generation of the World Wide Web and is included two main platforms, semantic technologies and social computing environment. The basic idea of web 3.0 is to define structure data and link them in order to more effective discovery, automation, integration, and reuse across various applications. The semantic technologies represent open standards that can be applied on the top of the web. The social computing environment allows human-machine co-operations and organizing a large number of the social web communities. In the recent years, recommender systems have been combined with ontologies to further improve the recommendation by adding semantics to the context on the web 3.0. In this paper, we study previous researches about recommendation method and propose a recommendation method based on web 3.0. Our method scores documents based on context tags and social network services. Our social scoring model is computed by both a tagging score of a document and a tagging score of a document that was tagged by a user's friends.

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented Avata construction system using XML(extensible Markup Language) and SVG(Scalable Vector Graphic). The Web character created with Avata(or Web character) construction system are displayed in same (on without damage of image, regardless terminal type and user can modify and change image easily in form that want. Compare with existing Web character system, the Reusability of web character part element Is increased greatly with Avata construction system of this paper. Because SVG is described by text, graphic retrieval is convenient, and applications can use easily SVG document. Also, SVG can create web graphic document dynamically with database because can access easily in all graphic primitives of line, Polygon, text, image etc. As well as web character using study finding, we may develop usable technology to some contents on World Wide Web.

The Paradox of Public Diplomacy on the Web: An Empirical Analysis on Interactivity and Narratives of Nation-States' Ministry of Foreign Affairs Web Sites

  • Against the backdrop of Habermas' theory of communicative action, we empirically analyzed the level of interactivity and narratives offered in nation-states' ministry of foreign affairs Web sites. A multiple regression analysis was performed in an attempt to identify factors affecting the level of interactivity in such Web sites. Findings revealed that the level of economic development is the sole significant factor in regards to the level of interactivity. Further, self-interested, goal-directed, and strategic purposes behind the allegedly transparent, engaging, and interactive public diplomacy were evidenced through a critical analysis of the objectives, key issues, and target publics addressed and highlighted in the public diplomacy narratives on the Web. The results suggested a possible digital divide in the interactive adoption of Web public diplomacy as well as strategic motives and interests embedded in the public diplomacy communication on the Web. This study helps increase our understanding of the paradox of public diplomacy in the digital age.

  • This study is aiming for make people understanding the importance of animation as a compulsory subject in designing World Wide Web. Specifically analyses of the basic theories and concepts of animation are given in the study to help web designer can get advantages from them. Few examples of some common factors which is being shared by both traditional animations and animations in web design. Highlighted issue in this study, however, is that we do not have many web sites organised by one who has proper animation training. This is underlined as a reason of imperfect web design we are able to see recently. As a proposal of solution, you'll see the training methods of animation, to have well planned web designs.

  • As the technology realizing digital multimedia has been developing remarkably based on Internet environment, today we can gain various information we need quickly and easily without regard to time or place by using world wide web. The recent spread of digital animation as a way of communication on Internet has been forming a new communication paradigm according to the development of age. Besides, digital animations embodied on web are a kind of communication medium which is expressed through interactions using different digital multimedia tools and put the concepts of time and space together. This is a form which can cope with various forms of information, and it occupies a high rate on web and is used often. Web animations offer various forms of communication, such as interface structure design for information transfer, characters, typography, and other graphic elements, which make users feel maximized real dynamics. This paper analyzes and evaluates the categories according to the characteristics, information and usage types of digital animations used on web, examines more efficient communication expressions based on them, and pays attention to the Internet environment that will develop and change in the future. With regard to it, this research aims at suggesting a useful theory so that diverse digital animations on web based on Internet environment would develop into a new communication paradigm responding to the change of time.

  • As the fast growth of using Internet, the requests of clients having different types and pressing loads on the server have been increased in World Wide Web. Thus the interesting issue is how to measure the real capacity of a Web Server. There have been much recent studies about measuring the capacity of web server. But the cause of Server response time delay is not just server itself but also network packet loss. To measure the practical capacity of web server, we generate scalable clients using Posix Thread, transport packets which were generated by scalable clients to the server using UDP and receive the packets which were the remain packet from network packet loss using TCP. In this paper, we propose a method to measure the practical capacity of a web server using the Scalable Clients based on Posix Thread and the transport on Application level.

Web-based GIS for Real Time Hydrologic Topographical Data Extraction for the Geum River Watershed in Korea (Web기반 GIS를 이용한 금강유역의 실시간 수문지형인자 추출)

  • Watershed topographical information is required in hydrologic analysis, supporting efficient hydrologic model operation and managing water resources. Watershed topographical data extraction systems based on desktop GIS are abundant these days placing burdens for spatial data processing on users. This paper describes development of a Web-based Geographic Information Systems that can delineate the Geum River sub-basins and extract watershed topographical data in real time. Through this system, users can obtain a watershed boundary by selecting outlet location and then extracting topographical data including watershed area, boundary length, average altitude, slope distribution about the elevation range with Web browsers. Moreover, the system provides watershed hydrological data including land use, soil types, soil drainage conditions, and NRCS(Natural Resources Conservation Service) curve number for hydrologic model operation through grid overlay technique. The system operability was evaluated with the hydrological data of WAMIS(Water Management Information System) with the government operation Web site as reference data.

  • Because of the rapid development of internet and Various Types. huge amount and Various types of data are available on the web there days. The tasks such as information retrieval, composition and integration are not easy on the web which contains such huge amount of data. In order to solve these problems W3C introduced Semantic Web as a next generation Web. Semantic Web guarantee the cooperation between heterogeneous Systems and improve reusability of information by providing the machine understandable Web data. In this paper. We design develop an ontology for the museum. The implemented ontology can be used as a standard ontology for the relic search in a museum.
