The purpose of this study is to examine the functionality with material-improved working uniform(protocol, P) and current working uniform(control, C). Movement functionality evaluation of material-improved working uniform was carried out through sensory evaluation of working uniform. And Oxygen uptake was explored to different working uniform(P, C) in relation to a physiological functionality measurement. The results have been shown as follows: It was found that the workers feel uncomfortable with the parts of the wrist, the back width, the shoulder seam and the side in the current working uniform when they move their arms up and down, but the inconvenience has been reduced in the material-improved working uniform. And It was found that the workers feel uncomfortable with the parts of the back width, the wrist and the side seam of the jacket, and the waist, the hips and the thigh of the trousers in the current working uniform when they move their waist, but the inconvenience has been reduced in the material-improved working uniform. In the current working uniform, it was also found that they feel uncomfortable with the parts of the horse riding position in which they stand straight in their slightly bended knees, with the parts of the hips, the side seam, the thigh and the knees when they crouch down, and with the parts of the hips and the thigh when they put one of their legs onto a higher place. However, the inconvenience was reduced in the material-improved working uniform. Oxygen uptake, which was measured to assess physiological dressing functionality, was found to be higher when people work in an uncomfortable uniform than when they work in a uniform of better functionality by an increase in metabolic rate, which can be a cause of workers' inefficiency of fatigue.
The purpose of this study is to examine the functionality with improved pattern-design working uniform(protocol, P) and current working uniform(control, C). Movement functionality evaluation of improved pattern-design working uniform was carried out through sensory evaluation of working uniform. Movements for the sensory evaluation consisted of four types of up and down and horizontal movements of the shoulders, four types of waist movements and five types of knee movements. The results have been shown as follows: The sensory value of back girth, wrist, side seam area of the "P" with the posture of raising an arm forward up to $90^{\circ}$ and the maximal arm's vertical movement significantly improved compared to the "C". Therefore, it can be concluded that movement functionality was increased with the improved pattern-design working uniform in the respect of arm's up and down movement. Furthermore, for P, Movement functionality improvements were shown in P with arm's horizontal movement, waist bending movement, and knee movement. Current working uniform(C) is jumper-type which wa designed without consideration for movement functionality of the arms and legs. But Pattern-design uniform(P) which was developed in this study. Therefore, the more patterns development, the better movement functionality in working uniform. The improved movement functionality improvements in working uniform will provide not only personal pleasantness but also efficiency of productivity at construction sites. In respect of human body's movement, further study for improved working uniform is required.
The purpose of this study was to analyse on the clothing practice of automaker's uniform and to investigate the relationship between wearing sense of worker's uniform and overall comfort according to working environment and working types. The data were collected from 184 automakers using questionnaire and interview of a officer for uniform management. Working environment was relatively comfortable, but the worker in special working area needed to control the working environment and adopted the protective equipment. The dissatisfaction of clothing practice of uniform was shown high in design and material. The order of preference in the color was blue, navy, blue, gray, green. In case of taking care of uniform, sewing durability and shape stability were poor in comparison with washing easiness. The correlation between overall comfort and wearing sense of uniform as sense of wearing and taking off, texture and movement function, was relatively high, but it appeared the low correlation in physiological comfort.
Functional, aesthetic and symbolic working uniforms in the industrial complex are demanded by employees and employers. The purpose of this research was to find out the actual wearing condition and preference of the working uniform design in the industrial complex. The research selected 7 enterprise subjects located in the Changwon National Industrial Complex and adopted a questionnaire method. 912 workers categorized into 4 work groups according to their work posts replied in total. The data and the degrees of satisfaction/preference of the working uniforms were analysed into descriptive statistics and F-tests by using the SPSS S/W package. The results were as follows: First, the style of the working uniform was the standard two-piece style. Second, the degree of the satisfaction with the entrepreneurial image implied to the working uniform was 2.83 throughout the 5-scale evaluation. In addition, the degree of the satisfaction with the working uniform colors was in between 2.94 and 2.96. Third, unsatisfied parts of the upper and lower uniform garments were: sleeve > pocket > collar; and waist belt loop > hip pocket > hem line respectively. Fourth, beige was the most preferred color for the working uniform top and bottom both. The most preferred color images were the calm and safety and the bright and light in order. Especially, the demand on the safety factors and soil proof colors of the outside field workers was much higher than the clerical workers. Fifth, the blouson type jacket with shirts collar or soutien roll collar was more preferred to than the casual style; and the straight formal pants were more preferred to than the casual/sweat sports pants styles. Sixth, inner pockets to keep the mobile phone and pens were required for upper garment details specially by manufacture workers. Increase of the waist belt loop numbers was required by all work groups.
The purpose of this study was to present the thermal characteristics of the working uniform exposed to the radiation heat. The effect of exposure time and exposure distance on the changes and the relationship between physical properties were investigated experimentally. Regardless of the kind of working uniform, the surface temperature of the working uniform with exposed time sharply increases as exposed distance is more close and the reaching time of steady state is shorter. The surface temperature of working uniform exponentially decreases as exposed distance become more distant. For the safety of the working man, it is necessary that he work far away at a fixed standard distance from the radiant heat source.
The purpose of this study was to investigate mechanical and comfort performances of the material for the improved working uniform for a volunteer fire brigade member, to get basic data for its evaluation and to help its material and design development. The results were as follows; The material of the newly developed working uniform was thinner and lighter than the material of the current used working uniform. It had better breathability, air permeability and heat transmission rate than the current one. It also had superior anti-flammability In all mechanical properties(tensile, bending, shearing, compression and surface properties), it showed better performances than the current one. It elongated and bended easier and more in both warp and weft directions. The elastic recovery and shape stability after elongation were also higher. The recovery and resistance to shearing and the resiliency and recovery after compression were also better than the current one. It was more flexible, softer and smoother in primary hand value, and was more suitable for the material for winter suit which needs softness and fullness in total hand value. The material of the improved working uniform showed lower thermal insulation value and higher evaporative resistance value compared to the material of the currently used working uniform from the sweating thermal manikin test. It was shown that the physical performances and the hand value of the textile material used in the newly developed working uniform for a volunteer fiber brigade member was improved compared to the one used in the currently used working uniform.
The purpose of this case study was to design development of Working Uniform in 10 enterprises which were located in Changwon national industrial complex. The 10 enterprises were small-medium business in machinery. For finding actual conditions and preferences by employers, interview with employers was accomplished and their uniforms were collected. The uniforms were analyzed by Design elements ; shapes, colors, details. From the results, working uniforms were designed by each enterprise. The design was suggested CAD work sheets and send to each enterprise. After discussion and correction, design were made in fabric. Total 50 items(winter jacket and pants, spring & fall jacket and pants and summer T-shirts) were made by P/C, P/A and polyester coolon materials. The new designs have worn by the enterprises, now. This case study could be one of academic - industrial relationship cooperation.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the actual wearing conditions of working uniform and identify problems for the aircraft mechanic. For this study, questionnaire surveys were conducted dividing according to styles of clothing; one-piece and two-piece styles. Subjects were 343 men working in flight line. Questionnaire of 159 two-piece styles and 184 one-piece ones were used in analysis. The results of the study are as follows; The result about wearing each type of working uniform showed that the two-piece one is always as the air force uniform, whereas the one-piece one is worn only a few times. They felt inconvenience during all operations except in the sitting position, crawling position, and positions in which they were using tools. Accordingly, the result of the functionality reported dissatisfaction on all question items. Therefore, uniform of two-piece style achieved better results on all questions related to motional flexibility and functionality. Questions on changes to finishing methods showed that each airline employed different methods for both two-pieced and one-pieced uniforms. The answers about the unstitched or worn-out parts of the two-piece garments showed that pants were unstitched on the inner seam of the trouser leg and hip regions, but the upper one was not. In case of the one-pieced uniform, the parts of wearing out is the seam of hip and the unstitched parts are knee region and hem line of pants. Questions concerning their satisfaction with the material of uniforms indicated a high rate of dissatisfaction, particularly in its ventilation and absorbency. Questions concerning the preferred design of working uniform indicated a preference for two-piece uniform rather than one-piece ones.
The purposes of this study were to investigate the satisfaction of working uniform in Nuclear Power Plant and to suggest the improvement of dissatisfaction. 150 workers in control area of Nuclear Power Plant were participated in survey and 30 questionnaires were asked and subjective description was allowed. 65%/35% Poly/Rayon coverall type working uniform was investigated for this survey which had been wearing usually and basically in control area in Nuclear Power Plant. According to the results, respondents were most highly dissatisfied with the wearing convenience aspect of current coverall among any other aspects, like textile and management. In wearing convenience aspects, wrist and ankle opening band system, the design, number and placement of pocket, waist belt design, the width of sleeve and pants, and ADR opening system were dissatisfied and requested for improvement. In textiles aspects, weight, protection from radiation materials, prevention from static electricity, moisture absorption, ventilation and flexibility/elasticity were dissatisfied and requested for improvement. In management aspect, washing uniform and size variation were dissatisfied and requested for improvement. Therefore, for more comfortable human interfaced working uniform, wearing convenience system as well as textile and management system must be compensated and should be newly developed for improving worker comfort, mobility, and productivity.
The purpose of this study is to examine the ergonomic working uniform. Developing a prototype uniform will be the first stage in aiming to create a working uniform in the construction field. This study was conducted using a questionnaire in the construction field of Daegu city, and the data was gathered from 121 questionnaires. Some of the questions that were asked, were about the case of putting on and removing the uniform and if any areas of uniform caused discomfort. The areas of the uniform that caused problems were the waist, knee, shoulder, arm and neck regions. The free range of movement of these regions were restricted and caused the person to feel cramped. The results of the questionnaire called for improvements to the knee, waist, shoulder and crotch area. The prototype that was developed offered more range of movement in the knee and crotch area, while not causing the uniform to be cramped too much during motion. The prototype also improved comfort by raising the waist line of back part, and by having the ability of the uniform to be tightened or loosened with zipper according to the persons preference. The upper area of the uniform was improved by dropping the shoulder seam line which enhanced comfort and also allowed a better fit for the elbow and wrist. The prototypes additional feature included a slit zipper in the sides of the trousers and a gusset in the under arm area to improve breathability and sweat elimination.
