프로펠러 캐비테이션의 초기발생과 소음특성에 대한 실험연구 (An Experimental Study on Noise Characteristics of Propeller Cavitation Inception)

  • Cavitation is the formation of vapour bubbles of a flowing liquid in a region where the pressure of the liquid falls below its vapor pressure. Various types of cavitations are generated on the propeller blades. As cavity bubbles passing the blade are forced to oscillate in size or shape and come to collapse, they cause very strong local acoustic waves in the fluid and radiate noise. Comparing the Sound Pressure Level(SPL) before and after cavitation, SPL increases 2dB per 1 knot increase in ship speed above the cavitation inception speed(CIS). Consequently, the CIS is an important criteria to design silent propellers. In this work, experimental measurements of radiated noise according to various types of cavitations from the model propeller are carried out in a large cavitation tunnel and their acoustical characteristics are extensively investigated.

농도성층화와 Cooled EGR이 DME HCCI 엔진의 운전영역에 미치는 영향에 관한 수치해석 (An Investigation of Effects of Fuel Stratification and Cooled EGR on DME HCCI Engine's Operating Ranges by Numerical Analysis)

  • Homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) engines have the potential to provide both diesel-like efficiency and very low emissions of nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter(PM). However, several technical issues still must be resolved before HCCI can see application. Among these, steep pressure-rise rate which leads to narrow operating range of HCCI engine continues to be a major issue. This work investigates the combination of two methods to mitigate the excessive pressure-rise rates at high power output, namely fuel stratification and Cooled exhaust-gas recirculation (Cooled EGR), after identifying the each effects to pressure-rise rate. When applying the fuel stratification to simulation, total fuelling width of 0.15 at BDC is set as a equivalent ratio difference based on the previous research. In order to simulate the effects of cooled EGR, $CO_2$ mole fraction in pre-mixture is changed ranging from 0 to 30%. DME which has a characteristic of two-stage ignition is used as a fuel.

용탕단조 시 저온염코어 적용 가압력의 영향 (Effect of Applying Pressure of High Pressure Diecasting Process Using Salt core)

  • A new concept of salt core, a melting temperature of which is lower than the solidus temperature of cast alloy, was introduced to produced an integrated casting part having a complicated inner shape or requiring under-cut in high pressure die casting or squeeze casting process. The main goal of this study is to develop a new integrated net-shape forming technology using fusible core of lower melting temperature than that of a casting alloy. This integrated net-shape forming technology would be very successful and cost-effective for producing the integrated products having a complicated inner shape or requiring under-cut. The technology for measuring and evaluating a various property of fusible core such as a thermal conductivity and thermal expansion coefficient, melting temperature was established. Also, the work space can be cleaned without a pollution inducing products.

HCCI 기관에 있어서의 층상 흡기를 통한 압력 상승률 저감에 대한 단위반응 수치 해석 (Potential of Thermal Stratification and Partial Fuel Stratification for Reducing Pressure Rise Rate in HCCI Engines)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 온도 성층화와 농도 성층화의 효과가 HCCI 연소에서 압력상승률 저감과 배기가스에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 알아보는 것이다. 2단계 열발생이 생기는 디메틸에테르(Di-Methyl Ether, DME) 연료를 사용하였다. 수치계산은 멀티 존 모델과 상세 화학 반응 스킴을 이용하였다. 수치계산 결과, 온도 성층화와 농도 성층화는 연소기간을 길게 하여 압력상승률을 저감시키는 것을 확인하였다. 그러나 농도 성층화의 폭이 너무 커지면 오히려 일산화탄소와 질소산화물이 증가하였으며, 연소 효율은 감소하였다.

High-pressure Air Impulse Technique for Rehabilitating Well and Its Application to a Riverbank Filtration Site in Korea

  • Rehabilitation work is required to increase well productivity, which decreases with the elapsed time of pumping owing to the clogging of the water well. Clogging causes not only a reduction in the well productivity but also a deterioration of the water quality. For unclogging and rehabilitating wells, several techniques are used such as brushing, air surging, surge blocks, and gas impulse. In this study, the high-pressure air impulse technique, which effectively and economically rehabilitates wells, was applied to a riverbank filtration site in Korea for the same objective. At most of the wells, the hydraulic parameters (transmissivity, storage coefficient, and specific capacity) were increased by the application of the high-pressure air impulse technique. The well loss change values also indicate an increase in the hydraulic parameters by the air impulse implementation. Thus, the high-pressure air impulse technique can be efficiently and economically applied to water and riverbank filtration wells for rehabilitating the decreased productivity.

충격파 감금법을 이용한 배기가스 유동의 새로운 처리법에 관한 연구 (New Treatment of High-Pressure Exhaust Gas Flows Using Shock-Wave Confinement)

  • 본 연구에서는 유로의 상류와 하류에 오리피스를 가지는 일정 단면적의 관로에 충격파를 감금시킴으로써, 고압력의 배기가스 유동을 감압처리하는 새로운 방법을 시도하였다. 이론해석에서는 일차원 점성 압축성 유동이론을 두 오리피스를 가지는 내부유동에 적용하여 이론계산을 수행하였다. 실험에서는 충격파 풍동을 이용하여, 압력측정과 유동장의 광학관찰을 수행하였다. 그 결과 충격파를 관내에 감금하기 위해서는 관의 마찰계수를 크게 하는 것이 바람직하다는 것을 알았다. 또 상류 오리피스의 단면적을 일정하게 하는 경우, 하류의 오리피스 단면적을 변화시킨다고 하더라도 전압의 감소량은 크게 변화하지 않았으나, 하류 오리피스의 단면적을 일정하게 하는 경우, 상류 오리피스의 단면적을 작게 할수록 전압감소량은 커진다는 것을 알았다. 본 연구의 결과는 각종 플랜트에서 발생하는 고압의 배기가스유동에 대한 새로운 처리법으로 유용하리라 판단된다.

  • 울산, 여주 등 산업단지의 고압매설배관에서 발생할 수 있는 굴착공사 등 타 공사로 인한 중대사고의 발생빈도를 도시가스 매설 배관과 비교하여 FTA에 의해 기초사상(Basic event)을 도출하여 제시한다. 또한 굴착빈도, 순찰주기 등 배관손상 영향 인자를 관찰 및 분석하고, 이들 인자의 중요도와 민감도를 Risk 비교분석을 통해 구해봄으로써 고압가스매설배관의 안전성 향상에 기여한다.

Rapid and massive throughput analysis of a constant volume high-pressure gas injection system

  • Fusion power shutdown system (FPSS) is a safety system to stop plasma in case of accidents or incidents. The gas injection system for the FPSS presented in this work is designed to research the flow development in a closed system. As the efficiency of the system is a crucial property, plenty of experiments are executed to get optimum parameters. In this system, the flow is driven by the pressure difference between a gas storage tank and a vacuum vessel with a source pressure. The idea is based on a constant volume system without extra source gases to guarantee rapid response and high throughput. Among them, valves and gas species are studied because their properties could influence the velocity of the fluid field. Then source pressures and volumes are emphasized to investigate the volume flow rate of the injection. The source pressure has a considerable effect on the injected volume. From the data, proper parameters are extracted to achieve the best performance of the FPSS. Finally, experimental results are used as a quantitative benchmark for simulations which can add our understanding of the inner gas flow in the pipeline. In generally, there is a good consistency and the obtained correlations will be applied in further study and design for the FPSS.

압력안전밸브의 부분적 종속 이중 고장상태 모델링 (Modeling Partially Dependent Double Failure States of Pressure Safety Valves)

  • 압력안전밸브의 열림고장과 닫힘고장은 서로 부분적으로 종속되어있다. 본 연구에서는 마르코프 프로세스 모델과 Weibull 분포 모델을 이용하여 두 가지 고장에 대한 신뢰성 모델을 구축하는 방법을 제안한다. 압력안전 밸브 모델은 알려진 열림고장 모델, 유도된 닫힘고장 모델, 최근 보고된 점검결과를 재현하는 동시고장 모델로부터 얻어진다. 제안된 방법은 부분적으로 종속된 다중 고장상태를 갖는 다양한 시스템의 정량적 위험성 평가로 확대 적용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Plastic deformation characteristics of disintegrated carbonaceous mudstone under dynamic loading

  • The excessive settlement and deformation of disintegrated carbonaceous mudstone (DCM) embankments under dynamic loading have long been problems for engineers and technicians. In this work, the characteristics and mechanism of the plastic deformation of DCM under different degrees of compaction, water contents and confining pressures were studied by static triaxial, dynamic triaxial and scanning electron microscopy testing. The research results show that the axial stress increases with increasing confining pressure and degree of compaction and decreases with increasing water content when DCM failure. The axial strain at failure of the DCM decreases with increasing confining pressure and degree of compaction and increases with increasing water content. Under cyclic dynamic stress, the change in the axial stress level of the DCM can be divided into four stages: the stable stage, transition stage, safety reserve stage and unstable stage, respectively. The effects of compaction, water content and confining pressure on the critical axial stress level which means shakedown of the DCM are similar. However, an increase in confining pressure reduces the effects of compaction and water content on the critical axial stress level. The main deformation of DCM is fatigue cracking. Based on the allowable critical axial stress, a method for embankment deformation control was proposed. This method can determine the degree of compaction and fill range of the embankment fill material according to the equilibrium moisture content of the DCM embankment.
