  • The study about the concrete to use recently a light weight aggregate, processed actively. And concrete pumping with a high pressure pump has been popularized, the mechanical development, such as high pressure pumps or pipes, is progressing rapidly. Concrete placing by pumping has the advantage of the reduction of the construction period with workability, easiness of work and the increase of placing, but the quality variation of concrete is caused by pumping is seldom considered, including the increase of the pipe length by high-rising and large-sizing, there by the loss of the unit quantity of water, with pumpability or workability deteriorated. In this research, we will compare and analyze before pumping and after pumping samples of ready-mixed light weight concrete. The result of study as follow. The case of a light weight concrete which the low slump is more decrement compared with high slump light weight concrete in after pumping samples. After pumping the water by pressure of a pump was absorbed to the aggregate inside, and it showed an increase of compression strength about $5{\sim}20%$.

  • The stability of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) stack is strongly dependent on the magnitude and profile of the internal chemical potential of the solid electrolyte. If the internal partial pressure is too high, the electrolyte can be delaminated from the electrodes. The formation of high internal pressure is attributed to a negative cell voltage, and this phenomenon can occur in a bad cell (with higher resistance) in a stack. This fact implies that the internal chemical potential plays an important role in determining the lifetime of a stack. In the present work, we fabricate planar type anode-supported cells ($25cm^2$) with a bi-layer electrolyte (with locally increased electronic conduction at the anode side) to prevent high internal pressure, and we test the fabricated cells under a negative voltage condition. The results indicate that the addition of electronic conduction in the electrolyte can effectively depress internal pressure and improve the cell stability.

  • The purpose of this study is to get experimental data on the distribution of CWM (Coal- Water Mixture) droplets size and the presence of pulverized coal particles inside CWM droplets. Atomization of CWM is done by Twin-Fluid Atomizer. The operational parameters are atomizing air pressure, coal particle loading, mean size of pulverized coal particles and sampling positions across spray. Th data analysis is initiated by Impression Sampling Method(Magnesium Oxide Technique) and Photo-technique and counting works are followed. Experimental work induces following research results. The variation of particle loadings in slurry makes no appreciable effects on the mean size of CWM droplets. It is evident that atomizing air pressure has very strong effect on the atomization of slurry. The mean size of atomized fuel droplets is dramatically reduced with the increasing air pressure. The population ratio of droplets without coal particles to total number of droplets is decreased as atomizing air pressure or loading rises and the same trend is obtained as the mean size of coal particles becomes smaller but a certain tendency of coal particle presence inside droplets could not be found from the change of sampling positions.

  • We investigated the energistics of the physiological heart model by comparing predictive indexes of the myocardial oxygen consumption (MOC), such as tension-time index (R), tension-time or force-time inteual (FTI), rate-pressure product (RPP), pressure-work index, and systolic pressure-volume area (PVA) when using the electro-hydraulic left ventricular device (LVAD). We developed the model of LVAD incorporated the closed-loop cardiovascular system with a baroreceptor which can control heart rate and time-varying elastance of left and right ventricles. On considering the benefit of the LVAD, the effects of various operation modes, especially timing of assistance, were evaluated using this coupled computer model. Overall results of the computer simulation shows that our LVAD can unload the ischemic (less contractile) heart by decreasing the MU and increasing coronary flow. Because the pump ejection at the end diastolic phase of the natural heart may increase the afterload of the left ventricle, the control scheme of our LVAD must prohibit ejecting at this time. Since the increment of coronary flow is proportional to the peak aortic pressure after ventricle contraction, the LVAD must eject immediately following the closure of the aortic valve to increase oxygen availability.

  • This work was designed to determine the optimum roasting conditions with application of a pressure roaster for improving the roasting process of the Polygonatum sibiricum tea which has been roasting with a traditional method. Soluble solid content of the Polygonatum cibiricum tea was 63.16% in the tea roasted at 0.85kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$(roasting pressure) and 13.9min(roasting time) which were maximum point by the ridge analysis. The optimum conditions predicted for each corresponding sensory properties of the Polygonatum cibirium tea were 0.87kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 9.2min in color, 0.89kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 9.7min in sweet 0.72kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 5.4min in burnt flavor, 0.89kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 9.9min in appetizing flavor, 0.87kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 9.3min in aftertaste, 0.89kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 10.0min in aroma, and 0.88kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 9.6min in overall acceptability of the tea. The optimum conditions based on the soluble solid content and sensory properties of the Polygonatum cibiricum tea, were 0.83~0.88kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 9.7~10.4min.

  • An experimental work was conducted to investigate a feasibility of simultaneous measurement of gas-liquid two-phase flowrates with double orifice plates using air and water. The tests were carried out under the atmospheric pressure and at the ambient temperature using two different tube sizes. Qualities of an air-water flow in the present study have values less than 0.1 and thus the mixed flow showed bubbly, plug, slug flow regimes. The probability density function (PDF) and the power spectral density function (PSDF) of the instantaneous pressure drop traces for the flow regimes were obtained. It is found that some distinctive features exist in the distribution of these functions, depending upon the two-phase flow pattern. The time-averaged value of the instantaneous pressure drop increases with increasing gas and liquid flowrates, showing a single-valued function for the total mass flowrate and the quality. It is also found that the two-phase discharge coefficient exhibits a consistent trend for variation of dimensionless parameters such as the superficial velocity ratio and the gas Reynolds number. The results indicate that simultaneous measurement of two-phase flowrate may be possible based upon a statistical analysis of the instantaneous pressure drop curves monitored using double orifice plates.

  • The production of high-quality epitaxial layers almost always involves an etching step of silicon substrates with HCl gas prior to epitaxy, In this work, an investigation has been made on the etch rate and the etch-pit formation as a function of HCl gas concentration and etch temperature at atmospheric pressure (1 atm.) and reduced pressure (0.1 atom.). As a result, it is found that the etch rate is proportional to the square of the HCI gas concentration (XHC12) and the apparent ativation energy is between 0 and 111 Kcal/mole for both ammospheric and reduced pressure operation. From these results, it is expected that the HCI etching of silicon in reduced pressure operation proceeds, as in atmospheric operation, via the reaction ; Si + 2HCl ↔ SiCl2 + H2.

  • We investigate the flow characteristics around a series of rectangular bodies ($40^d{\times}80^w{\times}80^h$, $80^d{\times}80^w{\times}80^h$ and $160^d{\times}80^w{\times}80^h$) placed in a deep turbulent boundary layer. The study is aiming to understand the surface pressure distribution around the bodies such as the suction pressure in the leading edge, when the flow is normal, which is responsible for producing extreme suction pressures on the roof. The experiment includes wind tunnel work by using HWA (Hot-Wire anemometry) and pressure transducers. The experiments are carried out at three different Reynolds numbers, based on the velocity U at the body height h, of $2.4{\times}10^4$, $4.6{\times}10^4$ and $6.7{\times}10^4$, and large enough that the mean flow is effectively Reynolds number independent. The results include the measurements of the growth of the turbulent boundary layer in the wind tunnel and the surface pressure around the bodies.

  • The present study is an experimental work of the soni $c^ersonic air ejector-diffuser system. The pressure-time dependence in the secondary chamber of this ejector system is measured to investigate the steady operation of the ejector system. Six different primary nozzles of two sonic nozzles, two supersonic nozzles, petal nozzle, and lobed nozzle are employed to drive the ejector system at the conditions of different operating pressure ratios. Static pressures on the ejector-diffuser walls are to analyze the complicated flows occurring inside the system. The volume of the secondary chamber is changed to investigate the effect on the steady operation. the results obtained show that the volume of the secondary chamber does not affect the steady operation of the ejector-diffuser system but the time-dependent pressure in the secondary chamber is a strong function of the volume of the secondary chamber.er.

  • The decrease in the fracture toughness of ferritic steels in a reactor pressure vessel is an important factor in determining the lifetime of a nuclear power plant. A surveillance program has been in place in Korea since 1979 to assess the structural integrity of RPV steels. In this work, the surveillance data were collected and analyzed statistically in order to derive the empirical relationship between the embrittlement and strengthening of irradiated reactor pressure vessel steels. There was a linear relationship between the yield strength change and the transition temperature shift change at 41 J due to irradiation. The proportional coefficient was about $0.5^{\circ}C$/MPa in the base metals (plate/forgings). The upper shelf energy decrease ratio was non-linearly proportional to the yield strength change, and most of the data lay along the trend curve of the US results. The transition regime temperature interval, ${\Delta}T_T$, was less than the US data. The overall change from irradiation was very similar to the US results. It is expected that the results of this study will be applied to basic research on the multiscale modeling of the irradiation embrittlement of RPV materials in Korea.
