This study investigates the complex mechanism of work-family conflict affecting counterproductive behavior of employees based on resource conservation theory and 417 valid samples by using polynomial regression and response surface analysis. Counterproductive work behavior refers to any intentional behavior of an individual that has potential harm to the legitimate interests of the organization or its stakeholders. Results show that first, work-to-family conflict (WFC) and family-to-work conflict (FWC) had four matching types. Compared with "high WFC-low FWC," "low WFC-high FWC" and "low WFC-low FWC" matching conditions, the employee self-control resource depletion and counterproductive work behavior (CWB) are at their highest under "high WFC-high FWC" congruence matching condition. Second, the joint effect of WFC and FWC has a U-shaped relationship with counterproductive behavior. Compared with the "high WFC-low FWC" match state, the level of CWB in the "low WFC-high FWC" match state is higher. Third, the depletion of self-control resources played a mediating role in the effect of WFC on counterproductive behavior. Fourth, emotional intelligence moderated the relationship between the congruence of WFC and FWC and self-control resource depletion. Emotional intelligence was higher, and the positive relationship between the congruence of WFC and FWC and self-control resource depletion was weaker.
Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate health problems and factors related to work impairment of nurses working at community health centers. Method: Data were collected from May 2008 to July 2008 using a structured, self - reported questionnaire for general characteristics, work-related characteristics, health problems and work impairment. The subjects were composed of 434 nurses from 25 community health centers in Seoul. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. Results: For present health problems, shoulder, back and neck pain were ranked the highest at (54.6%), followed by cold, GI trouble, and visual disorders. The average score of work impairment was 24.71($\pm7.14$) out of 50.0. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the major factors that affect work impairment were age and number of health problems, and that these factors explained 15% of the work impairment. Conclusion: Age and number of health problems are the factors that have the greatest influence on work impairment. These findings indicate that the health condition of nurses at community health centers must be considered to improve the overall quality of nursing service.
Regarding leisure and work as very important in residential life of old ages, this study analyzed their preference by leisure and work for senior congregate housing, which can provide proper work and leisure activities for older people who are able to manage their social activities with healthy condition. It conducted a survey of middle aged of the 50's who would face problems of senior housing in 2010, with stratified sampling by region, sex and housing structure type. Totally 556 Questionnaires were used for the final analysis. The research results showed that, first, the group which was positive toward their works mostly had spouse of the age of early 50' s and work for professional, technological, managerial positions with good health. Second, the more positive group towards their work showed high willingness to move in senior congregate housing, than a negative group towards their work, and put a weight on the openness of shared space and facilities as well as various alarming equipments, common space, common programs and the ability of managers. Third, according to the attitudes toward leisure activities, there were differences in each group by housing structure type, education of their own or their spouses, monthly income, property, economic ability, health condition, living together with spouse, housing tenureship, and usable area of houses. The fourth was that those who enjoy active leisure activities presented high willingness to move in senior congregate housing than those of negative attitude and also there was a difference in managerial ways. Throughout the results of the study, it appeared that a group of positive attitude toward work and leisure, than that of negative attitude, recognized the importance of senior congregate housing which social and leisure programs could support. It implied necessary to develop housing for the older people who have enough ability to manage their leisure activity as well as their work. The study is likely to have a contribution to suggest practical data for helping the development of housing for self-reliant seniors by analyzing their preference on senior congregate housing by their attitudes toward work. The research for the factors of various designs and managements by leisure and work may become the following research theme of the study.
Purpose: This study analyzes the relationship between work-life conflict and turnover intention among hospital nurses. Furthermore, it seeks to determine whether the relationship between the two varies depending on the shift work condition of the nurses. Methods: A total of 435 nurses working at five tertiary hospitals were included in the study. The questionnaire included items on turnover intentions, work-life conflicts, sociodemographic factors, working conditions, and internal and external resources. Results: The level of work-life conflict among shift work nurses was higher than that of non-shift work nurses. The turnover intention was also higher for shift work nurses than for non-shift work nurses. Results from the multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the work-life conflict of nurses had a positive relationship with turnover intention. The effect of work-life conflict on turnover intention was greater for shift work nurses than for non-shift work nurses. Conclusion: Work-life conflict had a greater impact on the turnover intention of hospital nurses working under shift work conditions. Based on this study's findings, it can be suggested that, in order to reduce high turnover intention, it will be necessary to make specific efforts to balance work-life conflict and improve working conditions.
In the present work, flow characteristics analysis has been performed for steam turbine bypass control valve (single-path type). The numerical analysis is performed by solving three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations. Shear stress transport (SST) model is used as turbulence closure. Symmetry condition is applied at the mid plane of the valve while adiabatic condition is used at the outer wall of the cage. Grid independency test is performed to find the optimal number of grid points. The pressure and temperature distributions on the outer wall of the cage are analyzed. Mass flow rate at maximum plug opening condition is compared with the designed mass flow rate.
Dynamic analysis of nano/micro bio-sensors based on a multiscale atomistic/continuum theory is introduced. We use a generalized atomistic finite element method (GAFEM) to analyze a bio-sensor which has $3{\times}N_a{\times}N_p$ degrees of freedom, where $N_p$ is the number of representative unit cells and $N_a$ is the number of atoms per unit cell. The stiffness matrix is derived from interatomic potential between pairs of atoms. This work contains two studies: (1) the resonance analysis of nano bio-sensors with different amount of target analyte and (2) the dependence of resonance frequency on finite element mesh. We also examine the Courant-Friedrichs-Lewy (CFL) condition based on the highest resonance frequency. The CFL condition is the criterion for the time step used in the dynamic analysis by GAFEM. Our studies can be utilized to predict the performance of micro/nano bio-sensors from atomistic perspective.
The present work addresses the surface integrity and chip morphology in finish hard turning of AISI D3 steel under nanofluid assisted minimum quantity lubrication (NFMQL) condition. The surface integrity aspects include microhardness, residual stress, white layer formation, machined surface morphology, and surface roughness. This experimental investigation aims to explore the feasibility of low-cost multilayer (TiCN/Al2O3/TiN) coated carbide tool in hard machining applications and to assess the propitious role of minimum quantity lubrication using graphene nanoparticles enriched eco-friendly radiator coolant based nano-cutting fluid for machinability improvement of hardened steel. Combined approach of central composite design (CCD) - analysis of variance (ANOVA), desirability function analysis, and response surface methodology (RSM) have been subsequently employed for experimental investigation, predictive modelling and optimization of surface roughness. With a motivational philosophy of "Go Green-Think Green-Act Green", the work also deals with economic analysis, and sustainability assessment under environmental-friendly NFMQL condition. Results showed that machining with nanofluid-MQL provided an effective cooling-lubrication strategy, safer and cleaner production, environmental friendliness and assisted to improve sustainability.

The present work proposes a new image analysis method for the evaluation of the multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) distribution in a cement matrix. In this method, white cement was used instead of ordinary Portland cement with MWNT in an effort to differentiate MWNT from the cement matrix. In addition, MWNT-embedded cement composites were fabricated under different flows of fresh composite mixtures, incorporating a constant MWNT content (0.6 wt%) to verify correlation between the MWNT distribution and flow. The image analysis demonstrated that the MWNT distribution was significantly enhanced in the composites fabricated under a low flow condition, and DC conductivity results revealed the dramatic increase in the conductivity of the composites fabricated under the same condition, which supported the image analysis results. The composites were also prepared under the low flow condition (114 mm < flow < 126 mm), incorporating various MWNT contents. The image analysis of the composites revealed an increase in the planar occupation ratio of MWNT, and DC conductivity results exhibited dramatic increase in the conductivity (percolation phenomena) as the MWNT content increased. The image analysis and DC conductivity results indicated that fabrication of the composites under the low flow condition was an effective way to enhance the MWNT distribution.
This paper develops and evaluates a mechanical machining process which involves drilling on PVS material. According to the material, two treatment experiments were conducted, one involving drilling in a wet condition or using a lubricant and one involving drilling in a dry condition with no lubricant. Drilling in a dry condition showed better performance in terms of the cutting time than in the wet condition. Otherwise, the wet condition has several advantages. The lubricant influenced the burr diameter size and minimized the temperature on the surface of the work piece. During the wet condition drilling process, a smaller burr diameter size was noted as compared to the dry condition. The temperature showed a linear correlation with the drill bit size, where a least-square analysis provided an $R^2$valuewhichexceeded 0.95. The wet condition required more cutting time than the dry condition. In this condition, the water provides a lubrication effect. A thin layer between the cutting edges and the surface of the work piece is formed. The chip formation is affected by the drilling depth. The color on the tips of the chips was darker than in the initial condition. No correlation between the drilling depth and the bore roughness was noted, but the variation of the cutting speed or the RPM influenced the roughness of the bore. The optimum cutting speed ranged from 40 RPM to 45 RPM in the condition which provided the finest roughness surface.
Objectives: Recently, the rate of death by chronic disease, is increasing steadily. To prevent this, the public health center will have taken a leading role in the local community medical business through an establish to the national health promotion act and an amendment to the law of public health center in Korea. Results: Accordingly this research, using the Pender's health promotion model which is related with subject health behavior who government employees serve at the public health center have taken important position in the local community health promotion, have comprehended the actual condition of health behavior. For increasing the health behavior practice of subject to comprehend the factor which have effect on health behavior practice, which can be a correct role model in the local community health promotion. A survey was performed on 406 government employees who serve at five public health centers in Seoul. The period of survey was from 25th October, 2010 to 15th November, 2010. The results of this study were summarized as below. 1. Work-related stress, perceptible beneficial obstacle, and self-efficacy were composed by 5 points measure. The results show those work-related stress were $3.06{\pm}0.469$, 74perceptible beneficial obstacle were $3.74{\pm}0.471$, and self-efficacy were $3.49{\pm}0.469$. 2. As for the health behavior by general characteristic, the results have specific differences on age, education level, state of marriage, rank of the position, field of the occupation and employment forms in statics analysis. 3. As for the past health behavior by health behavior characteristic, work-related stress have specific differences on the past frequency of drinking (p<.05) in statics analysis, perceptible beneficial obstacle have specific differences on the past frequency of having breakfast(p<.05), having snacks(p<.05) and doing exercise(p<.05) in statics analysis. Self-efficacy have specific difference on the past frequency drinking(p<.01) in statics analysis. 4. According to the correlation between the factors related with health behavior and health behavior, the health behavior have specific differences on perceptible health condition(p<.01), the past health behavior and perceptible beneficial obstacle(p<.05). Work-related stress and self-efficacy don't have specific relation in health behavior practice. 5. The factors, which effect on health behavior practice have specific differences on the past health behavior, employment forms and field of the occupations. The ability of explanation occupied 54.8% what explained of the health behavior practice by general characteristic, perceptible health condition, employment forms and perceptible beneficial obstacle. Conclusions: According to the correlation between the factors related with health behavior, the health behavior have specific differences on perceptible health condition(p<.01), the past health behavior and perceptible beneficial obstacle(p<.05). The factors, which effect on health behavior practice have specific differences on the past health behavior, employment forms and field of the occupations.
