  • Wireless power transfer technologies typically include inductive coupling, magnetic resonance, and capacitive coupling methods. Among these methods, capacitive coupling wireless power transfer (CCWPT) has been studied to overcome the drawbacks of other approaches. CCWPT has many advantages such as having a simple structure, low standing power loss, reduced electromagnetic interference (EMI) and the ability to transfer power through metal barriers. In this paper, the CCWPT system with 6.78MHz class D inverter is proposed and analyzed. The proposed system consists of a 6.78MHz class D inverter with a LC low pass filter, capacitor between a transmitter and a receiver, and impedance transformers. The system is verified with a prototype for charging mobile devices.

  • Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) is an efficient technology to increase data rate in wireless networks due to bandwidth and power limitations. Data transmission rate between transmitter and receiver is determined by channel capacity. MIMO has an advantage of reliable communication over wireless channel because of utilizing the channel capacity properly. In this letter, we drive a new formula, closed form capacity formula, using confluent hypergeometric function.

  • The capacity of wireless communications has been considered to be restricted by their fundamental limits, which were first formulated by Shannon in 1948. These limits are for the communication environment that is composed of a transmitter and receiver pair. However, there are usually more than one simultaneously communicating pairs in the environment. In such cases, the capacity is not known. Moreover, performance requirements have been diversified with the development of technology. We believe that wireless communication technologies will eventually progress toward limitless connections. Various wireless transmission and access technologies are introduced in order to overcome their limitations.

  • In the system necessary for safety such as the train control system, to make train control information be sent correctly is very important to enable organic movement between trains. In the case of the system such as RF-CBTC (Radio Frequency Communication Based Train Control) the control related information is sent through wireless transmission between on-board system of a train and wayside transmitter. The wayside transmitter collects the running information such as location, velocity from the on-board system and operates the optimizing control by sending the control information such as the target, limited velocity to the on-board system. But, when the communication disconnect or train failure, the critical hazard such as train collision or derailment may be possible because the RF-CBTC depends on the information through wireless communication. This paper discribes of performing Fall-Back system to detect train position in the case of rail break or communication failure to avoid train accident and allows train to be operated safely. It can be implemented with ATP function through track circuits using active-type transformers and axle counters, and allows train to be operated manually in emergency status.

  • In this paper, we implemented polar transmitt converter based on software for next generation digital wireless communication system. The implemented converter converted from rectangular to polar by CORDIC algorithm, and be made up of sweep for DDS output frequency using software control. The implemented converter shows can frequency control up to 1.16GHz within DDS frequency control range by software control. it means that transmitter can be control of varied blocks such as gain, phase, output and etc.. The implemented converter can be applied digital wireless communication system based on SDR.

  • The energy efficiency of a self-powered wireless sensing system for pressure monitoring in injection molding is analyzed using Bond graph models. The sensing system, located within the mold cavity, consists of an energy converter, an energy modulator, and a ultrasonic signal transmitter. Pressure variation in the mold cavity is extracted by the energy converter and transmitted through the mold steel to a signal receiver located outside of the mold, in the form of ultrasound pulse trains. Through Bond graph models, the energy efficiency of the sensing system is characterized as a function of the configuration of a piezoceramic stack within the energy converter, the pulsing cycle of the energy modulator, and the thicknesses of the various layers that make up the ultrasonic signal transmitter. The obtained energy models are subsequently utilized to identify the minimum level of signal intensity required to ensure successful detection of the ultrasound pulse trains by the signal receiver. The Bond graph models established have shown to be useful in optimizing the design of the various constituent components within the sensing system to achieve high energy conversion efficiency under a compact size, which are critical to successful embedment within the mold structure.

  • A drain bias switching technique is presented to enhance power added efficiency for WiBro and wireless LAN dual band and dual mode transmitter. Some simulations have been done to predict the effect of drain and gate bias change, and bias switching is proposed to get the higher efficiency for dual mode transmitter which generates different output power for different applications. With drain bias switching and simulated optimum fixed gate bias, the amplifier shows dramatic PAE improvement compared to the amplifier without bias switching. The drain and gate bias switching technique will be useful for multi mode communication system with various functions.

  • In this paper, we proposed the wireless communication system using millimeter-wave envelope detector. The sub-harmonic mixer based on schottky barrier diode was used in the transmitter. The receiver was used millimeter-wave envelope detector. The transmitter was composed of schottky diode sub-harmonic mixer, frequency tripler, and horn antenna. The receiver was composed of horn antenna, millimeter-wave envelope detector, low pass filter, base band amplifier, and limiting amplifier. At 1.485 Gbps and 300 GHz, the eye-diagram showed a very good performance as measured by the error free. Communication distance is reduced compared to the heterodyne receiver, but compact and lightweight is possible.

  • This paper proposes a portable ECG monitoring system, which integrates uptodate PDA and RF communication technology. The aim of the study is to acquire the subject's biomedical signal without any constraint. It has two types of transmission mode, which are total signal transmission mode and HR(heart rate)/SC(step count) transmission mode. In audition, wireless communication technology uses Zigbee Wireless PAN and can work in low-power mode, which is one of the advantages of ZiBbee communication technology. The developed system is composed of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter has three-axial acceleration sensor. ECG amplifier and Zigbee communication controller. In total signal transmission mode, it can send data 50 packets per second whose transmission speed corresponds to 300 ECG samples and 60 acceleration samples. In HR/SG transmission mode, it can calculate heart rate from EEG data with 216 samples per second and step count from acceleration data and send a packet every cardiac cycle. The receiver forwards the received data to PDA, where the data can be stored and displayed. Therefore, the developed device enables to continuous monitoring for Activities of Daily Living(ADL). Also, this method will reduce medical costs in the aged society.
