  • An algorithm is proposed to seek a local optimal solution of the network utility maximization problem in a wireless mesh network, where the architecture being considered is an infrastructure/backbone wireless mesh network. The objective is to achieve proportional fairness amongst the end-to-end flows in wireless mesh networks. In order to establish the communication constraints of the flow rates in the network utility maximization problem, we have presented necessary and sufficient conditions for the achievability of the flow rates. Since wireless mesh networks are generally considered as a type of ad hoc networks, similarly as in wireless multi-hop network, the network utility maximization problem in wireless mesh network is a nonlinear nonconvex programming problem. Besides, the gateway/bridge functionalities in mesh routers enable the integration of wireless mesh networks with various existing wireless networks. Thus, the rate optimization problem in wireless mesh networks is more complex than in wireless multi-hop networks.

  • In a wireless mesh network, there are two types of nodes: mesh routers and mesh clients. These two contradistinct network entities will be characterized and modeled depending on their role in the network. Mesh routers are essentially not mobile unlike the mesh clients. The differences on these nodes should be noted in any protocol design. In this paper, we present a mobility management for wireless mesh network (WMN). This mobility management handles movement of wireless mesh clients as it leaves from a coverage area of a wireless mesh router to another. We consider signaling overhead and mobility as performance metrics.

  • Wireless mesh networks enlarge the wireless coverage area by interconnecting relatively stationary wireless routers (mesh routers). As wireless mesh networks are envisioned to provide high-bandwidth broadband Internet service to a large community of users, the Internet gateway, which acts as a central point of Internet attachment for the mesh networks, is likely to suffer heavily from the scramble for shared wireless resources because of aggregated traffic toward the Internet. It causes performance decrement on end-to-end transmissions. We propose a scheme to balance the load in a mesh network based on link quality variation to different Internet gateways. Moreover, under the mesh coverage, mobile nodes can move around and connect to nearby mesh routers while still keeping the connections to the Internet through the best gateway in terms of link quality. In this structure, gateways perform the balancing procedure through wired links. Information about gateways and mobile node's location is distributed appropriately so that every mesh router can quickly recognize the best gateway as well as the positions of mobile nodes. This distributed information assists mobile nodes to perform fast handoff. Significant benefits are shown by the performance analysis.

  • In wireless mesh network, nodes are communicates as like as Ad-Hoc. Nodes of Wireless Mesh Network must have a good QoS and a algorithm for good path. ETX, ETT and WCETT are proposed Wireless Mesh Network routing methods. But these have Interference problem. This paper propose ETI(Expected Transmission Interference) based on ETT for good path selection. This paper show the algorithm and improved performance in simulation than other algorithms.

  • Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) are emerging as promising, convenient next generation wireless network technology. There is a great need for a secure framework for routing in WMNs and several research studies have proposed secure versions of the default routing protocol of WMNs. In this paper, we propose a security framework for Hybrid Wireless Mesh Protocol (HWMP) in WMNs. Contrary to existing schemes, our proposed framework ensures both end-to-end and point-to-point authentication and integrity to both mutable and non-mutable fields of routing frames by adding message extension fields to the HWMP path selection frame elements. Security analysis and simulation results show that the proposed approach performs significantly well in spite of the cryptographic computations involved in routing.

  • Recently, wireless mesh networks are used in various application areas. However, wireless mesh networks have limited bandwidth by the wireless transmission property, and have severe throughput degradation in multi-hop transmission in single channel wireless mesh networks. To solve this problem and support QoS, a lot of routing protocols have been proposed in mesh networks. In this paper, we propose a wireless mesh networks architecture with MPLS for QoS service. The path and traffic management from the application could be independent from QoS routing protocols by using the MPLS in wirelss mesh networks. In this paper, we design a MPLS-based mesh router with IEEE 802.11e for traffic differentiation and investigate the operation by implementation and test.

  • Wireless Mesh Network(WMN) is wireless backbone networks technique which has ease of network configuration and cost of advantage. Recently, WNM released a new product, but most of existing research and technology analysis the performance through the simulation. This paper build the wireless mesh network testbed for actual situation. Testbed supports multi-channel multi-interface using bridge, the Wireless Distribution System and dynamic location-based routing protocol. This routing protocol strongly design against wireless interference using metric for link channel change and real distance. Then, the address of mesh clients assigned by the centralized address management server. Mesh clients is designed and implemented to manage network through Simple Network Management Protocol.

  • In this paper, interoperability in heterogeneous wireless mesh network, and mesh nodes for providing efficient IP mobility technique offers multi-hop ARP. Heterogeneous wireless mesh networks to MANETs based on a wireless mesh network backbone and non-MANET architecture is based on a client wireless mesh network and the two mobile networks, combined with a hybrid wireless mesh network are separate. In two different hybrid wireless mesh network routing protocols used to connect the two protocols in the protocol conversion at the gateway to parallel processing problems seriously overload occurs. All of the network reliability and stability are factors that reduce. Therefore, for efficient integration with L3 routing protocols, design techniques to build ARP multi-hop go through the experiment to increase the number of mesh nodes, the packet forwarding rate and an increased hop number of the node was to ensure reliability and stability.

  • Convergence of various wireless systems can be cost effectively achieved through enhancement of existing technology. The emergence of Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) entails the interoperability and interconnection of various wireless technologies in one single system. Furthermore, WMN can be implemented with multi-radio and multi-channel enhancement. A multi-radio, multi-channel wireless mesh network could greatly improve certain networking performance metrics. In this research, two approaches namely, clustering and topology control mechanisms are integrated with multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh network. A Clustering and Topology Control Algorithm (CTCA)is presented that would prolong network lifetime of the client nodes and maintain connectivity of the routers.
