The frequency spectrum available for the wireless communication is extremely crowded. In order to improve the spectral efficiency, the two-way relay networks have aroused great attention. A simple $N^{th}$ best-relay selection criterion for the opportunistic two-way relay networks is proposed, which can be implemented easily by extending the distributed timer technique in practice, since the proposed criterion is mainly based on the channel gains. The outage performance of the proposed relay selection scheme is analyzed under the outdated channel state information (CSI), and a tight closed-form lower bound and asymptotic value of the outage probability over Rayleigh fading channels are obtained. Simulation results demonstrate that the tight closed-form lower bound of the outage probability very closely matches with simulated ones in the whole SNR region, and the asymptotic results provide good tight approximations to the simulation ones, especially in the high SNR region.

This paper proposes a fast-processing and low-cost hardware multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel emulator. The channel emulator is an important component of hardware-based simulation systems. The novelty of this work is the use of sharing and pipelining functions to reduce hardware resource utilization while maintaining a high sample rate. In our proposed emulator, the samples are created sequentially and interpolated to ensure the sample rate is equal to the base band rate. The proposed 4 × 4 MIMO requires low-cost hardware resource so that it can be implemented on a single field-programmable gate array (FPGA) chip. An implementation on Xilinx Virtex-7 VX980T was found to occupy 10.47% of the available configurable slice registers and 12.58% of the FPGA's slice lookup tables. The maximum frequency of the proposed emulator is 758.064 MHz, so up to 560 different paths can be processed simultaneously to generate 560 × 758 million × 2 × 32 bit complex-valued fading samples per second.

In practical wireless systems, the erroneous channel state information (CSI) sometimes deteriorates the performance drastically. This paper focuses on robust design of coordinated set planning of coordinated multi-point (CoMP) transmission, with respect to the feedback delay and link error. The non-ideal channel models involving various uncertainty conditions are given. After defining a penalty factor, the robust net ergodic capacity optimization problem is derived, whose variables to be optimized are the number of coordinated base stations (BSs) and the divided area's radius. By the maximum minimum criterion, upper and lower bounds of the robust capacity are investigated. A practical scheme is proposed to determine the optimal number of cooperative BSs. The simulation results indicate that the robust design based on maxmin principle is better than other precoding schemes. The gap between two bounds gets smaller as transmission power increases. Besides, as the large scale fading is higher or the channel is less reliable, the number of the cooperated BSs shall be greater.

In this paper, we analyzed BER performance of the MC DS-CDMA system and evaluated the degree of performance improvement of the system caused by adopting turbo code recently receiving much attention due to its powerful coding capability. As a result of analysis, it was found that the MC DS-CDMA system without any powerful coding scheme can not serve voice quality $(BER : 10^{-3}$ regardless of the number of users and the value of $(BER : 10^{-3)$ in Rayleigh fading channel. On the other hand, it was found that the MC DS-CDMA system adopting turbo code for performance improvement, shows improved BER performance and can serve voice quality without regard to the number of users and the value of $(BER : 10^{-3)$ in the same channel. For example, when $(BER : 10^{-3)$ is l0dB and the number of users was 10, the MC DS-CDMA system adopting turbo code showed improved BER performance about $5\times10^{-3}$.

In this paper we implement computer simulation system of 4FSK signal MODEM using Quadrature detector and analyze overall tranceiver system. We follow the FLEX wireless paging system standards and construct premodulation filter and data frame. We propose an efficient open loop symbol timing recovery algorithm which takes advantage of 128 bit length preamble pattern and also propose a 32 bit UW pattern which Is based on the optimal UW detection method, and excellent aperiodic autocorrelation characteristic. The BER simulation in the fading channel as well as AWGN is performed with BCH coding and Interleaving to the Quadrature detector system and it is shown that a high coding fain occurs in the fading channel rather than AWGN channel.

In this paper, the performances of wireless asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) cell transmission in mobile work are analyzed. We adopt 16Star QAM as amodulation technique in wireless channel and considered Reed-Solomon, convolutional, and concatenated coding to improve the error rate performances, and also proposed the Partial Concatenated Coding (PCC) technique as UEP(unequal error protection) code for efficient transmission of ATM cell in the air interface. We consider Doppler's effect, Rician fading, and diversity technique of maximal-ratio combining (MRC) for mobile channel model. For performance measure, we analyze bit error rate, ATM cell loss probability, ATM cell error probability, and network performances of ATM cell transmission delay and throughput. The numerical results show that the adoption of PCC is a prospective way for the evolution of future wireless ATM network on mobile environment.

It is well know that in the wireless communication systems the transmitted signals can suffer from multipath fading due to the wave propagation characteristics and the obstacles over the paths, resulting in serious reduction in the power of the received signals. However, it is possible to take advantage of the inherent diversity imposed in the multipath reception if the underlying channel can be properly estimated. One of the diversity reception methods in this case is Rake processing. In this paper we study the Rake receivers for the direct-sequence spread-spectrum communication systems utilizing PN (pseudo noise) sequences to achieve spread spectrum. A conventional Rake receiver can use the finite-duration impulse (FIR) filter followed by the PN sequence demodulator, where the FIR filter coefficients are the reverse-ordered complex conjugate values of the fading channel impulse response estimates. Here, we propose a new Rake processing method by replacing the aforementioned PN code sequence with a new set of optimum demodulator coefficients. More specifically, the concept of the new optimum Rake processing is first introduced and then the optimum demodulator coefficients are theoretically derived. The performance obtained using the new optimum Rake processing is also calculated. The analytical results are verified by computer simulation. As a result, it is shown that the new optimum Rake processing method improves the MSE performance more than 10 dB over the conventional one using the fixed PN sequence demodulator. It is also shown that the new optimum Rake processing method improves the MSE performance about 10 dB over the Adaptive Correlator that performs the combining of the multipath components and PN demodulation concurrently. And finally, the MSE performance of the optimum Rake demodulator is very close to the MSE performance of OPSK demodulator under the AWGN channel.

This paper presents a power control scheme for OFDM based wireless communication systems in a multicell environment with co-channel interference which enables each system to achieve its target level of transmission bit rate. Generally, the optimal or near optimal power control scheme for multicarrier systems is Down to control the power level of each subcarrier in accordance with the associated channel status, which may be found in WF(waterfilling) and WF(iterative waterfilling) schemes. However, this requires the channel state information associated with every subchannel to be fed back from the receiver to its transmitter for successful power control. If the wireless channel exhibits relatively fast fading or the number of subcarriers is large, this may result in a considerable overhead. Here, in order to alleviate this problem, we propose a power control strategy for an OFDM systems maintaining the same power level over all the subcarriers. Also we prove its convergence, compare its complexity with that of the existing IWF algorithm, and examine its convergence characteristic through computer simulations.

Conventional TCPs are designed to work efficiently on wired network where any transmission errors rarely take place. However, the probability of transmission error in a wireless network is much higher than in a wired network, due to pass loss, multipath fading, and many kinds of interference. There were many researches on preventing the degradation of TCP performance in these wireless networks with bad channel condition. One of these researches is the SNOOP protocol which is link-layer solution for achieving high throughput of TCP. However, this SNOOP protocol is apt to retransmit some TCP segments unnecessarily, which could cause some increased traffic loads in a wireless network. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to prevent the unnecessary retransmission of TCP segments and to achieve increased performance of TCP.

Advancements in nanotechnology and novel nano materials in the past decade have provided a set of tools that can be used to design and manufacture integrated nano devices, which are capable of performing sensing, computing, data storing and actuation. In this paper, we have proposed cooperative nano communication using Power Switching Relay (PSR) Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) protocol and Time Switching Relay (TSR) WPT protocol over independent identically distributed (i.i.d.) Rayleigh fading channels in the Terahertz (THz) Gap frequency band to increase the range of transmission. Outage Probability (OP) performances for the proposed cooperative nano communication networks have been evaluated for the following scenarios: A) A single decode-and-forward (DF) relay for PSR protocol and TSR protocol, B) DF multi-relay network with best relay selection (BRS) for PSR protocol and TSR protocol, and C) DF multi-relay network with multiple DF hops with BRS for PSR protocol and TSR protocol. The results have shown that the transmission distance can be improved significantly by employing DF relays with WPT. They have also shown that by increasing the number of hops in a relay the OP performance is only marginally degraded. The analytical results have been verified by Monte-Carlo simulations.
