Design and Implementation of Location and Activity Monitoring System Based on LoRa

  • The location and human activity are usually used as one of the important parameters to monitor the health status in healthcare devices. However, nearly all existing location and monitoring systems have the limitation of short-range communication and high power consumption. In this paper, we propose a new mechanism to collect and transmit monitoring information based on LoRa technology. The monitoring device with sensors can collect the real-time activity and location information and transmit them to the cloud server through LoRa gateway. The user can check all his history and current information through the specific designed mobile applications. Experiment was carried out to verify the communication, power consumption and monitoring performance of the entire system. Experimental results demonstrate that this system can collect monitoring and activity information accurately and provide the long rang coverage with low power consumption.

  • Navigation system based on indoor location estimation is one of the core technologies in mobile robot systems. Wireless sensor network has great potential in the indoor location estimation due to its characteristics such as low power consumption, low cost, and simplicity. In this paper we present an algorithm to estimate the indoor location of mobile robot based on wireless sensor network and fuzzy modeling. ZigBee-based sensor network usually uses RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indication) values to measure the distance between two sensor nodes, which are affected by signal distortion, reflection, channel fading, and path loss. Therefore we need a proper correction method to obtain accurate distance information with RSSI. We develop the fuzzy distance models based on RSSI values and an efficient algorithm to estimate the robot location which applies to the navigation algorithm incorporating the time-varying data of environmental conditions which are received from the wireless sensor network.

  • The spread of wireless Internet technology development and applications with location information in the form of location-based services are becoming more diverse. In particular, where you recognize the location of objects such as people and things and to provide valuable services based on the ubiquitous and location-based services are emerging as an important service. The collision between the vehicle position measurement in this thesis and offers related service system. Used in the proposed system, the GPS PACKET with information about the location and time of collision for the vehicle crash, the vehicle consists of a NodeID. Cause a conflict between these data at the vehicle, the vehicle through the gateway from the server to decide whether to go on to determine that an emergency situation, Emergency Center, the location information and giving information about whether the conflict is measured. The server to want to save the crash information to the database of configuration. Additionally, the proposed U-LBS system to verify the validity of the experiment was performed.

  • Location information of individual nodes is useful for routing and some other functions in wireless sensor networks. Each node can use GPS to know its position. However, the GPS service can not be practical to use due to cost efficiency, power, and computing capability. This paper proposes the localization method to make nodes know their location in case of a few nodes knows their position information. The proposed method is named as VALT (Virtual Anchor based Localization using Triangulation method). It uses the virtual anchor concept and calculates the location of individual nodes by means of the triangulation method. This method helps all nodes to determine their position with low cost and high scalability.

  • In this paper, we proposes a multi-ring based mobile sink location scheme for solar-powered wireless sensor network (WSN). The proposed scheme maintains the multi-rings in which nodes keep the current location of sink node. With the help of nodes in multi-rings, each node can locate the sink node efficiently with low-overhead. Moreover, because our scheme utilizes only surplus energy of a node, it can maintain multiple rings without degrading any performance of each node. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme shows much better latency and scalability with lower energy-consumption than the existing single-ring based scheme.

  • The internet and wireless communication technologies are creating ubiquitous environments in which various services are expected anytime and anywhere. Many hardware facilities have been developed and system structures are suggested for mobile services to realize a ubiquitous computing environment with appropriate quality. But these applications are not designed in the consideration of the general capabilities to perform user's wireless and mobile communication/transaction. Consequently, different needs from users are not sufficiently satisfied yet. In this study, we suggest structure of the emerging network system for mobile commerce that provides users with seamless and ubiquitous environments using location information which exploit context-aware technology.

  • Recently, identifying user locations is becoming important as the society evolves into an ubiquitous society with the innovation of information technology. Particularly, many researches on identifying user locations are headed in direction to identify locations of users in the indoors, because a GPS that is widely used to identify the locations of users in the outdoors is inapplicable in the indoors. However, those researches are mostly not useful to general indoor environment because they are performed in a specific environment with specialized or customized devices such as UWB, RFID. Therefore, in this paper we propose a effective method to identify user locations in general indoor environments with wireless local network access points. Our approach enables to identify user location efficiently by measuring signal power of access points around the user and using the FRIIS formula which is used to calculate the distance among the things.

  • This paper shows a practical approach that is robust to the errors causing path-delay in mobile wireless location, and analyzes its performance by comparing with other methods. NLOS(non-line-of-sight) error and multipath are two big sources of positioning error in wireless location. Contrary to GPS(global positioning system), they result from the terrestrial propagation of a signal. Especially, since LOS(line-of-sight) path between a transceiver and a receiver is blocked by intermediate buildings and topography, NLOS causes a signal to be reflected and diffracted. An Indoor Localization Algorithm based on Improved Particle Filter and Directional Probabilistic Data Association for Wireless Sensor Network

  • As an important technology of the internetwork, wireless sensor network technique plays an important role in indoor localization. Non-line-of-sight (NLOS) problem has a large effect on indoor location accuracy. A location algorithm based on improved particle filter and directional probabilistic data association (IPF-DPDA) for WSN is proposed to solve NLOS issue in this paper. Firstly, the improved particle filter is proposed to reduce error of measuring distance. Then the hypothesis test is used to detect whether measurements are in LOS situations or NLOS situations for N different groups. When there are measurements in the validation gate, the corresponding association probabilities are applied to weight retained position estimate to gain final location estimation. We have improved the traditional data association and added directional information on the original basis. If the validation gate has no measured value, we make use of the Kalman prediction value to renew. Finally, simulation and experimental results show that compared with existing methods, the IPF-DPDA performance better.

  • Recently, owing to the rapid progress of Telecommunication technology, the increase of wireless internet’s subscriber and diffusion of wireless device, LBS (Location Based Services) which take advantage of user's location information and receive information in concerning with user’s location to be essential services. Location Based Services are related the moving objects which change their locations through time. Therefore, to provide location-based services efficiently, it is required that an efficient system which could acquire, store, and query the large number of locations. In this paper, we design management system to insert and search a huge number of Moving Object based on Legacy Relational Database.
