  • The present paper designed a weight measuring instrumentation system in which data conversion and a series of signal processing were totally equipped. 16 loadcell are incoming sensors and each output of the loadcell was amplified and filtered for proper analog signal processing. Several measuring instrumentation OP amps and general purposed OP amps were used. 12 bits A/D converters converted analog signals to digital bits and a PIC microprocessor controlled the 16 channels of loadcell. RF RS232 modules were used for wireless communication between the PIC microprocessor and an ethernet host for a remote sensor monitoring system development.

Development of Biped Walking Robot with Stable Walking (안정적 보행을 갖는 이족 보행 로봇의 개발)

  • In this paper, we introduce a biped walking robot which can do static walking with 22 degree-of-freedoms. The developed biped walking robot is 480mm tall and 2500g, and is constructed by 22 RC servo motors. Before making an active algorithm, we generate the motions of robot with a motion simulator developed using C language. The two dimensional simulator is based on the inverse kinematics and D-H transform. The simulator implements various motions as we input the ankle's trajectory. Also the simulator is developed by applying the principle of inverted pendulum to acquisite the center of gravity. As we use this simulator, we can get the best appropriate angle of ankle or pelvic when the robot lifts up its one side leg during the walking. We implement the walking motions which is based on the data(angle) getting from both of simulators. The robot can be controlled by text shaped command through RF signal of wireless modem which is connected with laptop computer by serial cable.

  • This paper describes a 1 GHz, low-phase-noise CMOS fractional-N frequency synthesizer with an integrated LC VCO. The proposed frequency synthesizer, which uses a high-order delta-sigma modulator to suppress the fractional spurious tones at all multiples of the fractional frequency resolution offset, has 64 programmable frequency channels with frequency resolution of $f_ref/64$. The measured phase noise is as low as -110 dBc/Hz at a 200 KHz offset frequency from a carrier frequency of 980 MHz. The reference sideband spurs are -73.5 dBc. The prototype is implemented in a $0.5{\mu}m$ CMOS process with triple metal layers. The active chip area is about $4mm^2$ and the prototype consumes 43 mW, including the VCO buffer power consumption, from a 3.3 V supply voltage.

Design of an Intelligent Streetlight System in USN

  • In this paper, we propose an intelligent streetlight system that has a complex sensor module of temperature, humidity, luminance and motion detection and controlled by the fuzzy logic based central monitoring system in order to get flexible and precise manipulation of the streetlight system in USN environment. The proposed streetlight system provides low power consumption and high efficiency by using sensed data from the complex sensor module, which were collected, processed, and analyzed by the fuzzy logic based central monitoring system. The performance of the proposed streetlight system is to be evaluated by a simulation study in terms of power savings and safety at the fields constructed as a test-bed under several suggested scenarios. Finally, we know that the proposed intelligent streetlight system can maximize the energy savings efficiently with the fuzzy logic based central monitoring system and selective remote dimming control by connecting it to the wireless ubiquitous sensor network (USN) using a Zigbee module.

  • This paper represents the mobile robot control system remote controlled by PDA(personal digital assistance). So far, owing to the development of internet technologies, lots of remote control methods through internet have been proposed. To control a mobile robot through internet and guide it under unknown environment, We propose a control method activated by PDA. In a proposed system, PDA acts as a user interface to communicate with notebook as a controller of the mobile robot system using TCP/IP protocol, and the notebook controls the mobile robot system. The information about the direction and velocity of the mobile robot feedbacks to the PDA and the PDA send new control method produced from the fuzzy inference engine.

Differential Dual-Frequency Antenna for Wireless Communication

  • A novel differential dual-frequency antenna using proximity coupling is proposed. Dual bands are realized by a slot in the ground plane. The lower resonant frequency is controlled by the slot in the ground plane, and the upper resonant frequency is mainly determined by the dimensions of the radiating patch. Measured results show that the proposed antenna can operate at 2.51 GHz and 5.38 GHz.

  • 본 논문에서는 SPD(Sampling Phase Detector)를 이용한 위상고정 방법의 무선 CATV용 위상 고정 유전체 공진 발진기(PLDRO)를 설계·제작하였다. 이 발진기는 하이브리드 형태인 12.875 GHz의 VCDRO(Voltage Controlled Dielectric Resonator Oscillator)와 완충 증폭기, 방향성 결합기, 주파수 체배기, 샘플링 위상 검출기, 루프 필터, 기준 주파수 발진기, VHF 증폭기로 구성되어 있다. 위상 고정 유전체 공진 발진기의 발진출력은 25.75 GHz에서 1.17 dBm, 기본주파수 억압 -27.83 dBc로 안정된 위상고정 상태를 나타내었다. 이때의 위상잡음은 -101.7 dBc/Hz @ 100KHz로 측정되었다.

Study of Dynamic Polling in the IEEE 802.11 PCF

  • Point Coordination Function (PCF) of the IEEE 802.11 protocol providing a centrally-controlled polling-based multiple access to a wireless channel is very efficient in high load conditions. However, its performance degrades with increasing the number of terminals and decreasing the load, because of wastes related to unsuccessful polling attempts. To solve the problem, we propose and study analytically the generic dynamic polling policy using backoff concept. For this aim, we develop Markov models describing the network queues changes, what allows us to estimate such performance measures as the average MAC service time and the average MAC sojourn time, to show the dynamic polling efficiency and to tune optimally the backoff rule.

  • For the purpose of reducing the energy consumption in the house heating, the various devices have been developed. One of these is to control the flow in the heat pipe and the flow control valve using shape memory alloy(SMA) spring is proposed in our study. The proposed house heating system is to save the gas consumption and the remote control system is designed for the convenience of using the proposed valve. The developed valve consists of SMA spring, disk, return spring, and regulation handle. The regulation handle is for supplying the additional hot water and is controlled by remote-control-motor. In order to design the remote control system, the Zigbee wireless communication protocol is used. The performance of the proposed valve structure is shown through the experimental result.

Real-time Multimedia data service scheduling in Wireless ATM Netsworks (무선 ATM망에서 실시간 멀티미디어 데이터 서비스를 위한 스케줄링 정책)

  • 최근 정보 통신 기술의 발전에 따라 음성 서비스 등과 같은 단일 서비스를 제공하던 무선 통신망이 음성, 데이터, 고화질 정지화면, 동영상 및 다양한 정보형태의 멀티미디어 데이터 서비스를 추구하고 있다. 효율적인 실시간 멀티미디어 데이터 전송을 위해서는 실시간 데이터의 지연한계를 보장하고 비 실시간 멀티미디어 데이터들의 데이터 손실을 최소화해야 한다. 무선 ATM망은 기본적으로 ATM 전송방식을 사용하고 있지만 유선 ATM망에 비해 제한된 대역폭파 높은 전송지연, 비트 에러율과 이동성이라는 특수성을 고려하여 유선 ATM망과 많은 차이가 있다. 무선 ATM망에서 실시간 멀티미디어 데이터 서비스 전송을 위한 스케줄링 방법으로 유선 ATM망에서 실시간 멀티미디어 데이터 서비스를 위해 적용되는 TCRM(Traffic-Controlled Rate Monotonic Priority scheduing)정책을 Uplink 와 Downlink 시 각각 다른 방법으로 적용하여 실시간 멀티미디어 데이터 전송 스케줄링 정clr을 제안하고, 예약버퍼(reservation buffer) 와 임의의 전송 속도 P$_{k}$ 를 사용하여 TCRM의 단점인 비 실시간 데이터에 대한 비효율성 문제 해결안을 제시한다.
