The wireless transmission medium inherently broadcasts a signal to all neighbor nodes in the transmission range. Existing asynchronous MAC protocols do not provide a concrete solution for reliable broadcast in link layer. This mainly comes from that an omni-directional broadcasting causes to reduce the network performance due to the explosive collisions and contentions. This paper proposes a reliable broadcast protocol in link taller based on directional antennas, named MDB(MAC protocol for Directional Broadcasting). This protocol makes use of DAST(Directional Antennas Statement Table) information and D-MACA(Directional Multiple Access and Collision Avoidance) scheme through 4-way handshake to resolve the many collision problem wit]1 omni-directional antenna. To analyze its performance, MDB protocol is compared with IEEE 802.11 DCF protocol [9] and the protocol 2 of reference [3], in terms of the success rate of broadcast and the collision rate. As a result of performance analysis through simulation, it was confirmed that the collision rate of the MDB protocol is lower than those of IEEE 802.11 and the protocol 2 of reference [3], and that the completion rate of broadcast of MDB protocol is higher than those of IEEE 802.11 and the protocol 2 of reference [3].
By using the radio propagation prediction of Rec. ITU-R P.1546, geographic information system, and S-I plane, we presented the methodology of interference analysis based on the minimum coupling loss, and also suggested the local coordinate system for calculating azimuth and elevation angles between the victim receiver and the interferer for an arbitrary antenna pattern. To check the presented algorithm, the map with the land-sea mixed area was taken for the given area of $80{\times}60[km^2]$ as real geography information. Field strength, path profile, and protection ratio with maximum allowable interference level have been illustrated for radar and fixed wireless system for the assumed frequency. In addition interference power of the victim receiver was calculated asa function of azimuth and elevation angles of the interferer. The developed methodology of interference analysis in the VHF and UHF bands can be actually applied to assess interoperability as well as compatibility in the civil or military applications.

${\mu}TESLA$ is well known as the most representative energy-efficient broadcast authentication method. Until now, there are many researches that figure out the problems or limitation of ${\mu}TESLA$ and mitigate or solve them, but most researches have been verified in the environment far from the real world. We consider the necessity of verifying what the real efficiency of ${\mu}TESLA$ is. In this paper, we assume that sensors that continuously repeat hibernation and activity perform communication under the UWSN(Unattended WSN), which BS does not stay in the network. In this environment, we newly inspect the performance of ${\mu}TESLA$ by performing various simulations.
Multiple antenna orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a promising technique for the high downlink-capacity in the next generation wireless systems, in which adaptive resource allocation is an important research issue that can significantly improve the performance with guaranteed QoS for users. However, most of the current resource allocation algorithms are limited to unicast system. In this paper, dynamic resource allocation is studied for multiple antenna OFDM based systems with multicast service. In the simulation, the performance of multicast system was compared with that of the unicast system. Numerical results also show that by using the proposed algorithms the system capacity is significantly improved compared with the conventional scheme.
Due to the various constraints such as feasible size of data payload and low transmission power, no technical specifications on the voice communication are included in the Zigbee standard. In this paper, a voice coding technique for application to the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, which is the basis of Zigbee communication, is presented. Here, both high compression and good waveform recovery are essential. To meet those requirements, a multi-stage discrete wavelet transform (DWT) block and a binary coding block consisting of two different pulse-code modulations are exploited. Theoretical analysis and simulation results in an indoor wireless channel show that the voice coder with 2-stage DWT is most appropriate from the viewpoint of compression and waveform recovery. When the line-of-sight component is dominant, the voice coding scheme has good recovery capability even in the moderate signal-to-noise power ratios. Hence, it is considered that the presented scheme will be a technical reference for the future recommendation of voice communication exploiting Zigbee.

As a broadcast message authentication method in wireless sensor networks, ${\mu}$TESLA enables sensor nodes efficiently authenticate message from base station (BS). However, if we use ${\mu}$TESLA that has very short length of key slot in unattended wireless sensor network (UWSN), sensors may calculate a huge amount of hashs at once in order to verify the revealed secret key. In contrast, if we set the length of ${\mu}$TESLA's key slot too long in order to reduce the amount of hashs to calculate, BS should wait out the long slot time to release key. In this paper, we suggest variable key slot ${\mu}$TESLA in order to mitigate the problem. As showing experiment results, we prove that our suggestion improve sensor node's response time and decrease of number of hash function calculation.
Throughout the history of digital communication, the digital speech coder is used as speech compression tool. Nowadays, the speech coder has been rapidly developed in the area of mobile communication system to overcome severe channel error and limitation of radio frequency resources. Due to the development of high performance communication system, high quality of speech coder is needed. This kind of speech coder can be used not only in communication services but also in digital multimedia services. In this paper, we describe the technologies of digital speech coder which are used in wire and wireless communication. We also present a summary of recent speech coding standards for narrowband and wideband applications. Finally we introduce the technical trends of next generation speech coder.
The increasing popularity of multimedia streaming services introduces new challenges in content distribution. Especially, it is important to provide the QoS guarantees as they are increasingly expected to support the multimedia applications. Multimedia streams typically experience the high start-up delay due to the large protocol overhead, the delay, and the loss properties of the wireless networks. The service providers can improve the performance of multimedia streaming by caching the initial segment (prefix) of the popular streams at proxies near the requesting clients. The proxy can initiate transmission to the client while requesting the remainder of the stream from the server. In this paper, we propose the traffic based caching algorithm (TSLRU) to improve the performance of caching proxy. TSLRU classifies the traffic into three types, and improve the performance of caching proxy by reflecting the several elements such as traffic types, recency, frequency, object size when performing the replacement decision. In simulation, TSLRU performs better than the existing schemes in terms of byte hit rate, hit rate, startup latency, and throughput.

In this study, we design a remote broadcasting system that can output announcement to a remote place using wired/wireless telephone. The designed remote broadcasting system uses the LTE module to amplify the telephone voice received wirelessly through the amplifier and output it. Also, a text message for broadcasting can be sent to a remote broadcasting system through a wired/wireless telephone capable of transmitting a text message, and the remote broadcasting system that receives the broadcasting text message can automatically output the corresponding announcement stored in the voice device. For security reasons, the telephone number of the receiver is analyzed by a comparison algorithm so that only the administrator and registered users can use the system. At this time, the recorded announcement broadcast is outputted through the speaker only when it is confirmed as the registered user. The system designed in this study allows the user to output announcements quickly without being limited by time and place.

In wireless sensor network, to provide the proper responses quickly for diverse events, wireless sensor nodes have to cooperate with each other. For successful cooperation, the time synchronization among sensor nodes is an important requirement for application execution. In the wireless sensor network, the message packets including time information are used for the time synchronization. However, the transmission of many message packets will exhaust the battery of wireless sensor nodes. Since wireless sensor nodes works on the limited battery capacity, the excessive transmission of message packets has an negative impact upon their lifetime. In this paper, the Reference Interpolation Protocol (RIP) is proposed to reduce the number of message packets for the time synchronization. The proposed method performs the time interpolation between the reference packet's time and the global time of the base station. The proposed method completes the synchronization operation with only 2 message packets when compared to the previous Reference Broadcast Synchronization (RBS) technique. Due to the simple synchronization procedure, our method greatly reduces the number of synchronization messages and showed the 12.7 times less power consumption than the RBS method. From the decrease in the transmission of message packets, the convergence time among wireless sensor nodes is shortened and the lifetime of wireless sensor nodes is also prolonged as much as the amount of saved battery energy.
