  • Ongoing advances in wireless broadband technologies can affect all of industrial society. As new wireless broadband technologies emerge, they will improve competition between established industries and their current services and produce new industries and new converged services. This paper analyzes the trend of next-generation wireless broadband and suggests ways of activating the industry further. To this end, we analyze the trend for previous wireless broadband industries and find out three influential factors (content, wireless network technology, and service) that will produce the continued growth of wireless broadband. Using these three factors, we propose a network technology-driven growth model. Based on that model, we offer activation plans for next-generation wireless broadband industries. This study thus provides an insightful perspective for next-generation wireless broadband industries by establishing additional useful guidelines for developing wireless broadband industries in the future.

  • Recently, due to the prevalence of various mobile devices and wireless broadband networks, there has been a significant increase in interest and demand for multimedia streaming services such as the mobile IPTV. In such a wireless broadband network, transmitting a continuous stream of multimedia data is difficult to achieve due to mobile stations (MSs) movement. Providing Quality of Service (QoS) for multimedia video streaming applications requires the server and/or client to be network-aware and adaptive. Therefore, in order to deploy a mobile IPTV service in wireless broadband networks, offering users efficient wireless resource utilization and seamlessly offering user perceived QoS are important issues. In this paper, we propose a new adaptive streaming scheme, called MARC (Mobile-aware Adaptive Rate Control), which adjusts the quality of bit-stream and transmission rate of video streaming based on the wireless channel status and network status. The proposed scheme can control the rate of multimedia streaming to be suitable for the wireless channel status by using awareness information of the wireless channel quality and the mobile station location. The proposed scheme can provide a seamless multimedia playback service in wireless broadband networks in addition to improving the QoS of multimedia streaming services. The proposed MARC scheme alleviates the discontinuity of multimedia playback and allocates a suitable client buffer to the wireless broadband network. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed scheme.

  • In this paper, We studied efficient design of wireless transmission system for unified data transmission in a subway and railway. It is increased that need of broadband multimedia service to make useful environment for user and to support the operation of railway system. High bandwidth is better if we need more services. But, high bandwidth requires more cost at tunnel of subway. More bandwidth make receive sensitivity to bad. So it need more wireless Station. We deduced best bandwidth of subway wireless transmission system reflecting the cost of installation and efficiency of system. Consequently, we decide efficient service model of broadband wireless system at a subway. Subway broadband wireless transmission system is tested in this year, and it is to be extended to province subway. Cost of subway broadband wireless transmission system is saved, because the system can be efficiently designed. Therefore, the effectiveness is expected to be very big.

  • This paper presents the impacts of Ultra Wide-Band(UWB) sensor using frequency of 4.5 GHz on Broadband Wireless communication system which uses frequency of 4.5 GHz. The Minimum Coupling Loss (MCL) method and Spectrum Engineering Advanced Monte Carlo Analysis Tool (SEAMCAT) is used to evaluate the interference effects of UWB sensor on Broadband Wireless communication system, respectively. The minimum protection distance between single UWB sensor and mobile station of Broadband Wireless communication system should be more than 1.2 m to guarantee the co-existence. In case of multiple UWB sensors, UWB transmitting PSD of around -68.5 dBm/MHz below should be required to guarantee interference probability of 5% below for mobile station of Broadband Wireless communication system.

  • The frequencies for HAPS used in fixed wireless access are allocated in the millimeter wave bands. The systems using these frequencies can have a serious impact on the radio communication qualities due to rain. In this paper, we compare the specific rain attenuation using CM(combined) raindrop size distribution with those using different sevral raindrop size distributions for the frequency bands 28/48㎓. The rain attenuations using CM raindrop size distribution for the path between the earth and HAPS platform according to the elevation angle are described.

  • In this paper, we investigate the wireless TCP protocol for throughput improvement in wireless Broadband. If the burst error duration of a wireless link is significantly long, retransmissions of lost packets by Snoop TCP are fulfilled mainly not by the receipt of duplicate acknowledgement (DUPACKs) but by local timer expiration. With the proposed scheme, Snoop TCP recovers packet losses fast by shortening the interval of local retransmissions based on the channel status. From the simulation results, we can show that the proposed scheme can improve TCP throughput considerably.

  • This paper investigates optimal relay selection and power allocation under an aggregate power constraint for cooperative wireless sensor networks assisted by amplify-and-forward relay nodes. By considering both transmission power and circuit power consumptions, the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the destination node is calculated, based on which, a relay selection and power allocation scheme is developed. The core idea is to adaptively adjust the selected relays and their transmission power to maximize the received SNR according to the channel state information. The proposed scheme is derived by recasting the optimization problem into a three-layered problem-determining the number of relays to be activated, selecting the active relays, and performing power allocation among the selected relays. Monte Carlo simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme provides a higher received SNR and a lower bit error rate as compared to the average power allocation scheme.

  • This paper presents the analysis of the required limit on a multibeam active phased array antenna (APAA) aperture using the statistical simulation for a High Altitude Platform Station (HAPS). The simulation takes into account the random errors caused by the non-identity of the array elements and the inaccuracy of the antenna calibration. The results of our statistical simulation show that the strict requirements on the sidelobe envelope for HAPSs can be met when the amplitude and phase distribution errors are minor, a condition which may be achieved by using digital beam forming.
