Design of lumped six-port phase correlator and performance of lumped direct conversion receiver (집중 소자형 6단자 위상 상관기 설계와 집중 소자형 직접변환 수신 성능)

  • The six-port phase correlator using lumped elements was designed and fabricated in this paper, also the receiving performance of L-band direct conversion receiver using lumped six-port phase correlator element was analyzed. The proposed L-band lumped six-port phase correlator element was composed of a resistive power divider and the twist-wire coaxial cables. The proposed lumped six-port structure provides the small-sized configuration and wide-band characteristics. The performance of the L-band lumped direct conversion receiver structure was measured under the conditions of 1.69 GHz frequency for LO-CW signal and RF-QPSK signal, which are input signals for the lumped six-port phase correlator element. The direct conversion receiving structure using the proposed lumped six-port phase correlator element can recovered the good digital I/Q signal.

  • Through the increment of requirement for group oriented communication services, the multicast infrastructure based on a wire and wireless network has become a widely discussed researching topic. However the research of the security properties safety, efficiency and scaleability in a multicast structure, has not been enough. In this study, we propose a scalable secure multicast key management structure based on PKI(Public Key Infrastructure), IPSec, domain subgroup and structural two mode scheme to provide a integrated multicast service. Also we discuss and propose the digital nominative group signature a refreshing method for satisfying the security and trusty on the network. At the base of this work we certify to the usability of new proposed scheme from comparing it with conventional schemes in the part of safety, efficiency and scaleability.

  • For smart structure technologies, the interests in wireless sensor networks for structural health monitoring are growing. The wireless sensor networks reduce the installation of the wire embedded in the whole structure and save the costs. But the wireless sensor networks have lots of limits and there are lots of researches and developments of wireless sensor and the network for data process. Most of the researches of wireless sensor network is applying to the civil engineering structure and the researches for the highrise building are required. And strain-based SHM gives the local damage information of the structures which acceleration-based SHM can not. In this paper, concept of wireless sensor network for structural health monitoring of highrise building is suggested. And verifying the feasibility of the strain-based SHM a strain sensor board has developed and tested by experiments.

  • The effect of free stream tubulence on the coherent structure in the near wake of a circular cylinder was investigated by a conditional sampling technique. The measurements were made from C.T.A. with hot wire I-probe and a Split-film sensor. Contours of phase-averaged velocity and vorticities were presented and discussed. It was found that the value of the vortex strength increased with increasing free stream turbulence which can enhance the roll-up of the shear layer.

  • Vinyl house is a simple agricultural structure that is installed economically and easily. In contrast, every year the farmers have spent a lot of money because of the collapse of this structure caused by the external forces such as strong wind and heavy snow. To prevent this damage due to frequent heavy snow and strong wind, it would be necessary to design it again. But getting rid of former vinyl house and reconstructing is unreasonable. It would be very economic if the former vinyl house is strengthened simply. This paper covers the investigation of the effect of the bracing systems that are additionally inserted inside the ordinary single frames as well as unbraced multiple frames that resisting only the strong wind load.

  • The effect of rear-spoiler attached at rear end of automobile trunk on the aerodynamic characteristics of a MIRA reference car model was experimentally investigated. For different shapes and positions(G/H) of the rear-spoiler, the aerodynamic forces on the automobile were measured at various flow speed(ReL). The effect of rear-spoiler on the wake structure behind the automobile was also investigated using flow visualization and hot-wire anemometer. The rear-spoiler modifies the near wake structure and decreases aerodynamic drag and increases driving stability compared with those of the conventional automobile without rear-spoiler. From the experimental results, rear-spoiler of airfoil shape installed at the position of G/H=0.084 shows the best aerodynamic performance.

Fabrication of a Superhydrophobic Water-Repellent Mesh for Underwater Sensors

  • A superhydrophobic mesh is a unique structure that blocks water, while allowing gases, sound waves, and energy to pass through the holes in the mesh. This mesh is used in various devices, such as gas- and energy-permeable waterproof membranes for underwater sensors and electronic devices. However, it is difficult to fabricate micro- and nano-structures on three-dimensional surfaces, such as the cylindrical surface of a wire mesh. In this research, we successfully produced a superhydrophobic water-repellent mesh with a high contact angle (> $150^{\circ}$) for nanofibrous structures. Conducting polymer (CP) composite nanofibers were evenly coated on a stainless steel mesh surface, to create a superhydrophobic mesh with a pore size of $100{\mu}m$. The nanofiber structure could be controlled by the deposition time. As the deposition time increased, a high-density, hierarchical nanofiber structure was deposited on the mesh. The mesh surface was then coated with Teflon, to reduce the surface energy. The fabricated mesh had a static water contact angle of $163^{\circ}$, and a water-pressure resistance of 1.92 kPa.

  • This paper describes the analysis results for the protection of lightning surge at 154 kV substation. We found that the surge arrester is needed at the inlet structure. The maximum overvoltage is 975 kV at the circuit breaker without the surge arrester at the inlet structure. This value can be lower than 600 kV by installing the surge arrestor at the inlet structure. In addition to the incoming surge from transmission line, the shield wire should be considered to prevent the shielding failure by the direct lightning stroke.

  • Mobile wire technology is a publicly available general purpose for Radio Frequency(RF) communication for short-range and point-to-multi point voice and data transfer. In this paper, we proposed a new technology of the synchronized frame structure which is based on the CDMA technique, and it's implemented into the VLSI design by FPGA. The developmental technique consists of an assigned coded type mobile communication equipments and available local mobile or wireless communication scheme quasi BT(Blue Tooth)'s functions as multiplexer or do-multiplexer for each other applications. We implement this architecture with special proposed frame structure in the local area network. Also, we expect the above proposed structure extend into the DS3 network architecture and applicable to the TE(Terminal Equipment) in the local communication area and the other one etc.
