3차원 PAR WIG (Powder Augmented Ram Wing in Ground Effect) 의 수치연구 (Flow analysis of 3-Dimensional Power-Augmented Ram Wing in Ground Effect)

  • A wing operating in close proximity to the ground exhibits a reduction in induced drag, which increase the lift/drag ratio. The poert-augmented ram (RAR) phenomenon involves directiing the efflux from forward mounted propulsion ststem under the wings, with the efflux nearly stagnated under the wings. In the present paper, 3 dimentional PAR was numerically studied by solving the Navier-Stokes equations. Pressure distribution and velocity vectors are calculated around the wing surface and the ground. Through the numerical simulation, Cp values and lift/drag ratio are carefully reviewed by changing the height/chord; 0.05, 0.1, 0.3 and 0.8. The shape of model is NACA 0012 with a span/chord ratio of 3.0. According to the numerical results, the relationship between lift/drag and height/chord is fairly reasonable.

진동하는 날개의 3차원 동실속에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis of Three Dimensional Dynamic Stall of an Oscillating Wing)

  • Three-dimensional dynamic stall over an oscillating wing has been analyzed by using a compressible Navier-Stokes code. The code solved the thin-layer Navirer-Stokes equations with a second-order time accuracy for a semispan wing with 0.3048m chord, a NACA 0015 airfoil section, and zero twist Computations were made for a freestream Mach number of 0.29, a chord Reynolds number of 1.95$\times$10(sup)6 and a reduced frequency equal to 0.1. Numerical results were compared with experimental data which include the hysteresis of lift, drag and moment at various wing span. The comparison reveals the quantitative as well as qualitative nature of the three-dimensional dynamic stall.

화포에 의해 손상된 날개의 공력특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Aerodynamic Characteristic of Gunfire Damaged Airfoil)

  • An experimental study has been conducted to investigate the effects of circular damage hole on the characteristics of airfoil performance. The damage on a wing created from a hit by anti-air artillery was modeled as a circular hole. Force balance measurements and static pressure measurements on the wing surface were carried out for the cases of having damage holes of 10% chord size at quarter chord and/or half chord positions. All experiments were conducted at Reynolds number of $2.85\times10^5$ based on the chord length. The surface pressure data show big pressure alterations near the circular damage holes. This abnormal surface pressure distribution produces shear stress that could lead to the acceleration of the structural degradation of the wing around the circular damage hole. However, in spite of the existence of circular damage holes, the measured force data indicated the only a slight decrease in lift accompanied by increase in drag compared to the results of undamaged one. The influence of damage hole on the aerodynamic performance was increased as the location of damage moved to the leading edge. The effect on the control force was insignificant when the damaged size was not large.

  • The dominant effect of the interaction between vortices, generated by the addition of the Leading Edge Extension(LEX) in front of the wing, was well observed in this experiment. In this study, systematic approach by PIV experimental method within a circulating water channel was adopted to study the fundamental characteristics of induced vertex generation, development and its breakdown appearing on a delta wing model with or without LEX in terms of four angles of attack($15^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$, $25^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$) and six measuring sections(30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%) of chord length. Distributions of time-averaged velocity vectors and vortices over the delta wing model were compared along the chord length direction. High-speed CCD camera which made it possible to acquire serial images is able to get the detailed information about the flow characteristics occurred on the delta wing. Especially quantitative comparison of the maximum vorticity featuring the induced pressure distribution were also conducted to clarity the significance of the LEX existence.

  • Highly swept leading edge extensions(LEX) applied to delta wings have greatly improved the subsonic maneuverability of contemporary fighters. Fundamental approach by PIV method was adopted to study the basic flow of the vortex pair formation appearing on a delta wing model with or without LEX. Three angles of attacks$(16^{\circ},\;24^{\circ},\;28^{\circ})$ and four measuring section of chord length(LEX-on) and three section(LEX-off) were selected as experimental conditions. From the PIV analysis, maximum vorticity was found at a given chord length and maximum velocity was also detected at larger chord length where stronger vortex was generated. Furthermore, the effect of LEX was remarkable at the vortex pair distance indicating narrower distance at LEX-on case.

  • The distinguishing features of flows at high angles of attacks are caused by the generation of free shear layers at sharp leading edges, by separation of the viscous layers from the surfaces of wings and bodies and by the flow in the wakes of the wings and bodies. Sideslip effect in case of the LEX was also studied for two sideslip(yaw) angles($5^{\circ},\;10^{\circ}$) at one angle of attack(20). Distribution of time-averaged velocity vectors and vorticity over the delta wing model were compared along the chord length direction. Quantitative comparison of the maximum vorticity featuring the induced pressure distribution were also conducted to clarify the significance of the LEX existence. Animation presentation in velocity distribution was also implemented to reveal the effect of LEX with wing vortex interaction.

Control of Delta-Wing Vortex by Apex Strake

  • The vortex flow characteristics of a double-delta wing, which can change the incidence angle of its apex strake was investigated through the wing-surface pressure measurement and the particle image velocimetry(PIV) measurement of the wing-leeward flow region. The apex strake has sharp edges and can change its incidence angle with a hinge line at the 23% chord position measured from the apex of the main wing. The present study revealed that the incidence-angle change of the apex strake could greatly alter the vortex flow pattern around the double-delta wing and the wing-surface pressure distribution, which suggested that the apex strake could be used as an effective device for the active control of delta-wing vortex flow.

원형 손상 구멍이 있는 날개 주위 유동장에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Investigation on the Flow Field around the Wing Having a Circular Damage Hole)

  • 원형 손상구멍이 있는 날개 주위 유동장에 대한 실험연구를 수행하였다. 손상은 시위의 10% 직경의 시위에 수직인 원형 구멍으로, 구멍 중심은 1/4 시위 혹은 1/2 시위에 위치하고 있다. 입자영상유속계에 의한 유동장 측정과 날개의 아래 및 윗면에서의 정압장을 시위를 기준으로 한 레이놀즈수 Rec=2.85×105에서 측정하였다. 입자영상유속계에 의한 유동 측정 결과 손상 구멍 주위에는 두 가지 형태의 유동구조가 형성되었다. 하나는 약한 제트로 손상 구멍 하류에서 부착된 후류가 생성된다. 다른 하나는 받음각 증가에 의한 강한제트에 의한 것으로 손상구멍으로부터 자유흐름으로 관통되어 접근하는 경계층 흐름을 박리시켜 역류가 있는 박리 후류구조를 생성한다. 날개면 압력 자료는 원형 손상 구멍 근처에서 큰 압력변화를 보여주었다. 이러한 압력변화는 손상구멍이 앞전 쪽에 가까울수록 증가하였다.
