This paper develops an algorithm for probabilistic production cost credit evaluation of wind turbine generators(WTG) with multi-state. Renewable energy resources such as wind, wave, solar, micro hydro, tidal and biomass etc. are becoming importance stage by stage because of considering effect of the environment. Wind energy is one of the most successful sources of renewable energy for the production of electrical energy. Case study demonstrates that the wind speed credit in view point of economics can be assessed by using the proposed methodology.
An experimental method to investigate the dynamic characteristics of buoys in extreme environmental condition is established. Because the buoy model requires a resonable size for accurate experiment, the test condition in model basin that satisfies the similarity law is hardly compatible with capability of test facilities. It is suggested that the linear wave component that is unable to satisfy similarity is separated with others. The model experiment is carried out with mitigated condition for the linear wave components while others including wave drift, current and wind are keeping the similarities. Then, the result can be extrapolated to give the dynamic behavior of buoys n extreme condition because linear wave component is solely responsibly to oscillatory buoy motion and other environmental components are applied as a initial tension. The similarity for current and wind conditions is viewed as equivalence of restoring forces. The validity of proposed method is examined with different types of standard ocean buoys and it indicates that the linearity of measured characteristics is assured with a limitation of resonable distance between test and estimated wave conditions.

The influence of wave forces on the moored ship beside quay was investigated based on in-house ship mooring analysis and ship motion program in this paper. The wind and current are the general environmental factors for the mooring analysis beside quay in the mild weather. However, the weather is becoming rough, the wave phenomenon should be included in the mooring analysis. In this paper, as preliminary stages, each moored rope tension was evaluated based on wind and current environmental condition. The results were compared with those from MOSES, commercial program. In addition to this, wave forces of the ship were calculated in order to solve moored ship motion of equation. We will leave to solve this motion equation as future work.

This study is part of a project to develop and improve mooring systems for oceanographic use that include an electro-optical sensor, 1MHz Nortek Aquadopp Doppler Profiler and AIRMAR multipurpose Sensor. The adaption of Doppler current profilers to measure directional wave spectra has provided a new instrumentation approach to coastal and nearshore oceanographic studies. The HEIOB is developed are light weight and of a compact design, and can be easily installed in marine environment. Since there are no base station and gateways in marine environments, we selected CDMA and Orbcomm to send the data information. Therefore, the data can be sent by either e-mail service or Short Message Service (SMS). This paper will present some of scientific sensor results regarding real-time oceanographic and meteorological parameters such as wind spend, wind direction, wave direction, and etc. The modeling and test results highlight the engineering challenges associated with designing these systems for long lifetimes. It can also be used in future application to build wave observation buoy network in real-time using multiple ubiquitous buoys that share wave data and allow analysis of multipoint, multi-layer wave profiler.

Shock wave/boundary layer interaction frequently causes the shock wave to oscillate violently and thus the global flow field to unstabilize. In order to stabilize the shock wave system in the diffuser of a supersonic wind tunnel, the present study attempted to control the shock oscillations by using a passive control. A porous wall with the porosity of 19.6% was mounted on a shallow cavity. Experiment was made by means of schlieren optical observation and wall pressure measurements. The flow Mach number just upstream the shock system and Reynolds number based on the turbulent boundary layer thickness were 2.1 and 1.8 * 10$\^$6/, respectively. The results show that the present passive control method on the shock wave/boundary layer interaction in the supersonic diffuser can significantly suppress the oscillations of shock system, especially when the shock system locates at the porous wall.

This study aims at dedicating to relevant technology fields by suggesting design methods of structures and estimating their safety in relation to substructure for offshore wind power requiring high safety to various environment conditions. Especially, with respect to 5MW Offshore Wind Power System, this study will provide information about major wind directions and duration in combination with the developing wave climate at the test field. Therefore, connections between wind fields and approaching wave trains will be estimated and their intensity, direction and time shift will be pointed out. Furthermore, the local pressure distribution of breaking waves will be investigated by physical and numerical modeling. The currently applied structural and fatigue assessment of support structures for offshore wind energy converters is based on common design rules. Normally, constructions in structural engineering are treated as limited, single structures. This means that varying aspects of manufacturing are considered by high safety factors.
In order to investigate downslope windstorm by using more detailed observation, we observed 6 cases at 3 sites - Inje, Yongpyeong, and Bukgangneung - during "3-D Meteorological Observation Project in Yeongdong region of Gangwon province, South Korea in 2020." The results from analysis of the project data were as follows. First, AWS data showed that a subsidence inversion layer appeared in 800~700 hPa on the windward side and 900~850 hPa on the leeward side. Second, before strong wind occurred, the inversion layer had descended to about 880~800 hPa. Third, with mountain wave breaking, downslope wind was intensified at the height of 2~3 km above sea level. After the downslope wind began to descend, the subsidence inversion layer developed. When the subsidence inversion layer got close to the ground, wind peak occurred. In general, UM (Unified Model) GDAPS (Global Data Assimilation Prediction System) have had negative bias in wind speed around peak area of Taebaek mountain range, and positive bias in that of East Sea coast area. The stronger wind blew, the larger the gap between observed and predicted wind speed by GDAPS became. GDAPS predicted strong p-velocity at 0600 LST 25 Apr 2020 (4th case) and weak p-velocity at 2100 LST 01 Jun 2020 (6th case) on the lee-side of Taebaek mountain range near Yangyang. As hydraulic jump theory was proved, which is known as a mechanism of downslope windstorm in Yeongdong region, it was confirmed that there is a relationship between p-velocity of lee-side and wind speed of eastern slope of Taebaek mountain range.

Floating Offshore Wind Turbines (FOWT) installed in the deep sea regions where stable and strong wind flows are abundant would have significantly improved energy production capacity. When designing FOWT, it is essential to understand the stability and motion performance of the floater. Water tank model tests are required to evaluate these aspects of performance. This paper describes a model test and numerical simulation for a 750-kW semi-submersible platform wind turbine model-II. In the previous model test, the 750-kW FOWT model-I suffered slamming phenomena from extreme wave conditions. Because of that, the platform freeboard of model-II was increased to mitigate the slamming load on the platform deck structure in extreme conditions. Also, the model-I pitch Response Amplitude Operators (RAO) of simulation had strong responses to the natural frequency region. Thus, the hub height of model-II was decreased to reduce the pitch resonance responses from the low-frequency response of the system. Like the model-I, 750-kW FOWT model-II was built with a 1/40 scale ratio. Furthermore, the experiments to evaluate the performance characteristics of the model-II wind turbine were executed at the same location and in the same environment conditions as were those of model-I. These tests included a free decay test, and tests of regular and irregular wave conditions. Both the experimental and simulation conditions considered the blade rotating effect due to the wind. The results of the model tests were compared with the numerical simulations of the FOWT using FAST (Fatigue, Aerodynamics, Structures, and Turbulence) code from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

The purpose of this study is to review and overcome the limits of the existing design wave model applied to such waters as those located inside bays or near islands where the impact of wind influenced waves are more dominant, due to the nature of topographic isolation, than the influence of direct waves coming from the open sea. Although the existing model for an inside bay design wave is excellent for considering wind factors and very adaptable to topographically complicated areas compared to other models, it is difficult to show the wave diffractions and reflections caused by large scale structures or topographic features in the region. The study examined the various methods capable of taking into account wave diffraction, the angle of wave reflection, and changes in water depth. As a result of applying the modified design wave model to the target situation (inside bay or near island areas), it was found that the reliability of the design wave height around marine structures was improved, compared to the existing models. Therefore, it is fair to predict that the new model could provide more accurate design waves in the design of marine structures.
