  • This study examined the causal relationship among job stress, fatigue, and job satisfaction, which affect the turnover intention of elderly nursing home care workers. Data were collected from Sep.15 to Sep. 30, 2014. Structured self-administered questionnaires were delivered and collected without the respondents' personal information. The subjects were 232 female care workers working in nursing homes in D city. The data were analyzed using the SPSSWIN 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 programs. Covariance structure analysis was performed to estimate the causal relationship between the variables affecting the turnover intention of care workers. The results of the analysis were as follows. The variables included in this study were fatigue, which comprised 4.9% of job stress. Job satisfaction explained 54.6% of job stress and fatigue. The turnover intention was 46.2% due to job stress, fatigue, and job satisfaction. In other words, job stress, fatigue, and job satisfaction had a direct or indirect effect on the turnover intention of care workers. In conclusion, job stress, fatigue, and job satisfaction affect the turnover intention. Therefore, a policy to improve the work environment and working conditions is needed to reduce the turnover intention of care workers, and fulfill their duties in a stable life time workplace.

  • This study was conducted to identify the mediating effects of the therapeutic relationship with mental health professionals between empowerment and recovery in mental illness. The participants were 168 adults in two community mental health centers and three rehabilitation centers in Jeonbuk. The data were collected by structured questionnaires from April 15 to April 30, 2015 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis with the SPSS 19.0 statistical program. The mean score of empowerment for mental illness, recovery and therapeutic relationship were $60.4{\pm}10.85$, $101.8{\pm}20.70$ and $74.5{\pm}14.30$, respectively. There were significantly positive correlations between recovery in empowerment and therapeutic relationship (r=0.33, p<0.001), as well as empowerment and recovery (r=0.51, p<0.001), while there were significantly positive correlations between therapeutic relationship and recovery (r=0.55, p<0.001). Therapeutic relationship had a partial mediated effect between empowerment and recovery, which was found to be significant by the Sobel test (z=3.706, p<0.001). The results of this study can be used as basic data for development of a practical recovery-enhancing program to promote therapeutic relationships and improve empowerment in relation to therapist of the mentally disabled.

The data was collected from May 1 to May 30, 2019, and 248 data samples were finally used for analysis. The collected data was analyzed using the SPSS /WIN 22.0 program. Descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, t-tests, ANOVA, Scheffe's test and multiple regression analysis were all calculated. The average of awareness about marriage was 3.39±.38, the average of the value of children was 2.72±0.39, the average motivation of childrearing was 2.73±0.78 and the average of childbirth will was 3.12±0.48. The childbirth will according to the general characteristics, was significantly different according to age (F=6.002, p=.003). Among the awareness about marriage, conservative view on marriage(r=.207, p=.001), active view on marriage(r=.226, p<.001), instrumental view on marriage(r=.181, p=.004), and motivation of childrearing(r=.283, p<.001) showed positive correlation ed with childbirth will. Childbirth will was negatively correlated with passive view on marriage (r=-.292, p<.001), and the value of children (r=-.226, p<.001). The factors affecting childbirth will of the study subjects were age(β=.155, p=.007), passive view on marriage(β=-.383, p<.001), motivation of childrearing (β=.315, p<.001), and the explanatory power was 23.6%. The subjects were 164 nurses who worked in two general hospitals in Incheon and Chungcheong-do, Korea. Data were collected from October to November 2018. The main findings of this study were as follows. The mean scores for happiness, empowerment, and nursing performance were 3.07±0.36, 3.37±0.43, and 3.40±0.44 points. Happiness was positively correlated with empowerment (r=.58, p<.01) and nursing performance (r=.58, p<.01), empowerment was positively correlated with the nursing performance (r=.58, p<.01). The factors influencing the nursing performance were empowerment (β=.65, p<.001), total length of a clinical career (β=.19, p<.001), education level (β=.12, p<.05), and happiness (β=.12, p=.05), showing an explanatory power of 64%. Based on these results, it is necessary to provide sufficient human and physical resources to improve the nursing performance and manage the organizational level to increase the nurses' happiness and empowerment. To improve the work performance of nurses, an empowerment improvement program tailored to the clinical experience and educational level should be developed, and the working environment that can increase the nurse's happiness should be improved.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of SNS addiction tendency, depression, and communication skill among university students. Subjects were 200 associate nursing students in Korea. The data were collected using a self-reporting questionnaire from October 11 to November 24, 2016. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, LSD test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. The levels of SNS addiction tendency were dependent on age (t=2.47, p=.044), connection SNS time (F=10.20, p<.001), and place of SNS use (t=2.54, p=.012). SNS addiction tendency was significantly correlated with depression. Higher SNS addiction was associated with higher rates of depression. SNS addiction tendency was not significantly correlated with communication skill in nursing students. Influential factors that affect SNS addiction tendency were depression (${\beta}=.265$, p<.001) and SNS usage time (${\beta}=.265$, p<.001), which explains about 15.5% of the variance. The results of this study indicate that nursing interventions are necessary to improve SNS addiction tendency, and early screening of nursing students is needed to develop health promotion programs for the vulnerable.

The degree of professional awareness amongst the participants was statistically and significantly different, depending on their year of study and the person who had recommended nursing as a career option. Nursing professionalism was highly correlated with the nursing image, and moderately correlated with satisfaction of nursing as a major subject. Results also indicated that 60.6% results indicating nursing professionalism were most significantly influenced by two factors: the image of the nurse, followed by satisfaction of nursing as major. We conclude that to improve the nursing professionalism of male students requires education and strategy to improve their nursing image, and career education and guidance that focuses towards greater satisfaction for their selected major subject.
