Subjects consisted of 150 nurses from general hospitals in B city, Korea, and data were analyzed using the SPSS Win 21.0 program. The mean scores of awareness of patient safety culture, critical thinking disposition, and patient safety nursing activities were $3.32{\pm}0.32$, $3.50{\pm}0.31$, and $4.28{\pm}0.46$, respectively. The awareness of patient safety culture was significantly different by clinical career in the present unit (F=4.79, p=0.001). The critical thinking disposition was significantly different by age (F=3.89, p=0.010) and position (F=6.40, p=0.002). There were differences in the scores of patient safety nursing activities according to position (F=3.19, p=0.044). Additionally, hospital environment (${\beta}=0.25$, p=0.014), supervisor attitude (${\beta}=0.20$, p=0.046), and position (${\beta}=0.14$, p=0.040) accounted for a 44.4% variance in patient safety nursing activities. To promote patient safety nursing activities in comprehensive nursing care service wards, positive awareness of the hospital's safety environment and support from the manager are required.

  • This is a single group pre-post study conducted to confirm the effectiveness of HIV/AIDS education for nursing students, imparted via video-learning methods. Study participants enrolled were 93 students in the 4th grade of the Department of Nursing at J-City V University. Data were collected from May 26 to June 16, 2020, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired t-test, independent t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient using the SPSS WIN 23.0 program. Results of this study confirm improvements in HIV/AIDS knowledge and attitude after attending video-learning modules. However, when assessing the details of attitude, insufficient data was obtained for difference in attitude toward social stigma recognition. Therefore, numerous attempts are required for imparting educational contents and methods that will positively alter social stigma recognition. The results of this study prove that video lectures are a useful teaching and learning method to transform the knowledge and attitude of nursing students towards HIV/AIDS. We believe that results obtained are meaningful, and provide a basis for imparting education by utilizing different media, such as a video-learning module.

  • This paper reports a descriptive correlation among ego-resilience, self-efficacy, and professional self-concept of nurses, and shows that there is a decrease of turnover intension in early stage nurses. The Data collection was conducted from June 1 to July 7, 2015. A survey using a structured questionnaire was conducted on 145 nurses working in one of three general hospitals. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, and Pearson's correlation coefficients, using SPSS WIN 18.0 program. The mean values were as follows: ego-resilience, 3.13 (${\pm}0.46$); self-efficacy, 3.64 (${\pm}0.64$); and professional self-concept of nurse, 2.95 (${\pm}0.50$). Among the factors related to the general characteristics of early stage nurses, marital status significantly affected ego-resilience, and total career significantly affected professional self-concept. There was a positive correlation between ego-resilience and professional self-concept in nurses (r=.305, p<.001). There was a positive correlation between self-efficacy and professional self-concept in nurses (r=.279, p=.001). It is necessary to develop a program to enhance early stage nurses' ego-resilience, self-efficacy, and professional self-concept.

  • This study was conducted to develop a model that explains the factors influencing the clinical nurses' willingness to perform Basic Life Support and to verify the appropriateness of the model. The participants were 550 clinical nurses working at a university hospital in Korea. The data were collected from self-reported questionnaires from October 2012 to February 2013. A total of 520 questionnaires were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 20.0 and Amos version 18.0 software packages. The results indicated that the clinical nurses' knowledge of basic life support had a direct impact and their clinical experience had an indirect impact on their willingness to perform basic life support at the scene. These variables together explained 19.5% of the variance in the nurses' willingness to perform Basic Life Support. The clinical experience was correlated significantly with knowledge (r=.61, p<.001). To increase the clinical nurses' performance of Basic Life Support, knowledge and clinical experience should be reinforced by continuous in-service education on Basic Life Support, considering the disease status of hospitalized patients.

The participants included 208 middle-aged men and women who use the life gym in Korea. The data were collected between July 26 and September 10, 2014, using a self-report questionnaire, and were analyzed by frequencies, t-test, ${\chi}^2$ test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation using SPSS Win 18.0. The score for health promotion behaviors was 3.41, with men scoring 3.31 and women scoring 3.47 (t = -2.09, p=.038). Self-realization was the highest and physical activity was the lowest in the sub-region. The score for self-respect was 3.42, with men scoring 3.39 and women scoring 3.34. The life satisfaction score was 3.35, with men scoring 3.34 and women scoring 3.36. Health promotion behavior was positively correlated with self-respect (r = .427, p<.001) and life satisfaction (r= -.760, p<.001). Self-respect showed a significant positive correlation with life satisfaction (r = .469, p<.001). Moreover, higher health promotion behavior resulted in higher self-respect and life satisfaction. Moreover, it was found that higher self-respect led to higher life satisfaction. Therefore, to increase self-respect and life satisfaction of middle-aged men and women, it is necessary to develop and test programs for health promotion behaviors.

  • This study was performed to survey factors related to smoking and smoking conditions among college students in H-gun. Data were collected and analyzed through a questionnaire from 181 college students in H-gun between the 26th and 30th of October, 2015. Using SPSS/WIN statistics 18.0, the data was analyzed by $X^2-test$, t-test, Spearman rho Correlation and Multiple Logistic Regression. There was a significant positive correlation among body weight, height, smoking cessation confidence, depression and smoking status. There was a significant negative correlation between smoking attitude and smoking status. The factors affecting smoking status explained 62.0% of the smoking status. The factors related to smoking were negative smoking attitude (OR 0.717, 95% CI 0.543-0.945) and high level of smoking cessation confidence (OR 1.281, 95% CI 1.117-1.470). It is necessary to improve smoking cessation confidence and increase negative smoking attitude in a smoking cessation program for college students.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of a visiting exercise program for physical activity promotion on physical (grip strength, static balance) and psychological (depression, perceived health status) function of frail elderly patients receiving home visiting service care. Subjects included a total of 49 patients; 24 in the control group and 25 in the experimental group. The visiting exercise program was carried out 16 times for 8 weeks. The collected data were analyzed by ${\chi}^2-test$ and t-test using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. There was a significant improvement in the left grip strength (t=2.19, p<.000), right grip strength (t=5.07, p=.032), static balance (t=3.98, p=.050), and depression (t=-8.83, p=.009) in the experimental group compared with the control group. The visiting exercise program for physical activity promotion was effective on physical and psychological functions for frail elderly patients receiving home visiting service care. Further research is needed in a longitudinal study incorporating various centers to examine the maintenance of such effects.
