  • We propose a new image pixel architecture which has OFD(Over Flow Device) node by improving conventional 3TR pixel structure. Newly designed pixel consists of photo diode which is verified with HSPICE simulation, PMOS reset transistor, several NMOS and several PMOS transistors. Photodiode signals from each PMOS and NMOS are detected by Reset PMOS. These output signals give enough chances to detect wide operation coverage because OFD node has overflow photocurrent. According to various light intensity, we analyzed characteristic of the output voltage with a SPICE tool. Proposed pixel output has specific value which can detect possible from $0.1{\mu}W/cm^2$ to $10W/cm^2$ light intensity. It has wide-dynamic range of 160 dB.

  • In this paper, we have analyzed and designed a digital RF receiver based on the optimization of the dynamic range parameter to secure the wideband characteristics and linearity of digital radar receivers. To improve the wideband characteristics and dynamic range, a low noise amplifier is matching design with a noise source to minimize the noise figure in 1 GHz bandwidth and we improved the linearity of RF-receiver by securing the conversion gain characteristics of receiver through the design of active mixer. RF receiver is designed to give gain 63 dB, noise figure 1.2 dB and dynamic range of RF receiver has 75.8 dB in a wide band of 8.8~9.8 GHz. It is shown to be applicable to X-band digital radar receiver.

  • The dynamic stress intensity factors (DSIF ; $K_{I}$$^{dyn}$) were studied in some polymeric materials using caustics method with a high speed camera system. Also crack tip propagation speed was measured by dynamic crack propagation velocity measuring device. To calculate DSIF a finite element analysis program-INha Stress Analysis Moving CRack(INSAMCR) was utilized. Dynamic fracture characteristics were investigated to verify a relationship between DSIF and crack tip propagation speed and acceleration in PMMA, Homalite-100 and Polycarbonate. The relationship between dynamic stress intensity factor and crack tip velocity revealed typical shapes. Measured crack tip acceleration data envelope converges to the zero level with increasing DSIF. Equivalently crack tip velocities show a wide spread range at low values of DSIF, but become a constant with a higher DSIF. $1.2MPa{\sqrt{m}}$, $1.4MPa{\sqrt{m}}$ and $1.3 MPa{\sqrt{m}}$ were obtained as $K_{I}$$^{dyn}$ values to arrest the dynamic crack for PMMA, Homalite-100 and Polycarbonate, respectively. INSAMCR was run to verify experimental results in PMMA and shows good agreementment.

  • Deformations in soils induced by dynamic loads cause damage to the structures above the soil layers. It is important for geotechnical engineering practice that how the soil behaves due to repeated loads and the necessary precautions to be taken accordingly. Turkey is one of the most important seismic regions in Europe and earthquake studies to be conducted in this area are intended to reduce the damage as a result of taking the necessary measures. To determine the properties of soils under dynamic loads, stress-controlled dynamic triaxial and resonant column tests can be performed. In this study, these experiments were implemented in the laboratory on the clayey sand soil samples obtained from Bilecik Söğüt. To evaluate the effects of the confining pressure and rate of loading on the dynamic behavior of soils, samples were dynamically loaded by different rates at varying confining pressures. As a result, the changes in stress-strain properties of soils under dynamic loads were investigated. The alteration in behavior in terms of modulus reduction and damping ratios was obtained to vary a lot with the change of the lateral pressure on soil along with the frequency of the load.

  • A wide-area protection intelligent technique has been used to improve a reliability in power systems and to prevent a blackout. Nowadays, voltage and current phasor estimation has been executed by GPS-based synchronized PMU, which has become an important way of wide-area blackout protection for the prevention of expending faults in power systems. As this technique has the difficulties in collecting and sharing of information, there have been used a FNET method for the wide-area intelligent protection. This technique is very useful for the prediction of the inception fault and for the prevention of fault propagation with accurate monitoring frequency and frequency deviation. It consists of FDRs and IMS. It is well known that FNET can detect the dynamic behavior of system and obtain the real-time frequency information. Therefore, FDRs must adopt a optimal frequency estimation method that is robust to noise and fault. In this paper, we present comparative studies for the frequency estimation method using IRDWT(improved recursive discrete wavelet transform), for the frequency estimation method using FRDWT(fast recursive discrete wavelet transform). we used the Republic of Korea 345kV power system modeling data by EMTP-RV. The user-defined arbitrary waveforms were used in order to evaluate the performance of the proposed two kinds of RDWT. Also, the frequency variation data in various range, both large range and small range, were used for simulation. The simulation results showed that the proposed frequency estimation technique using FRDWT can be the optimal frequency measurement method applied to FDRs.

  • In order to provide informations for the earth's deep interior and the earthquake mechanism, we have been operating the three components of Streckeisen Seismometers at Pohang Observatory, Korea, as a part of a long period seismic network (POSEIDON) in the northwestern Pacific now under construction. The recording system is specially designed to be able to obtain outputs of broad band and wide dynamic range; BRB (Broad Band), LP (Long Period), and VLP (Very Long Period) output. The triggered BRB and LP signals are digitized with the sampling intervals of 0.1 and 0.4 second, respectively. The lowpass filtered VLP output is digitized and recorded contineously with the sampling interval of 10 seconds. About 120 regional and teleseismic events have been successfully recorded for one and half year since late March, 1991. As a preliminary study, eight events of them are analyzed to determine Rayleigh wave dispersion curves in the period range of 20 to 300 seconds for the continental and oceanic paths. The curves are compared with the typical continental and oceanic ones to discuss the earth's deep interior.

  • Charge amplifier systems benefit from the very wide dynamic range of PE accelerometers by offering flexibility in adjusting the electrical output characteristics such as sensitivity and range. They are well suited for operation at high temperatures. Modern charge systems feature improved low noise operation, simplified digital controls, and dual mode operation for operation with charge or IEPE voltage mode sensors. high impedance circuitry is not well suited for operation in adverse field or factory environments. The resolution of a PE accelerometer may not be specified or known since noise is a system consideration determined by cable length and amplifier gain. IEPE accelerometrs operate from a constant current power source, provide a high-voltage, low-impedance, fixed mV/g output. They operate through long, ordinary, coaxial cable in adverse environments without degradation of signal quality. They have limited high temperature range. IEPE sensors are simple to operate. Both resolution and operating range are defined specifications. Cost perchannel is lower compared to PE systems since low-noise cable and charge amplifiers are not required.

  • This paper proposes an enhanced algorithm for sensorless control of 45,000rpm/22kw type Permanent Magnetic Synchronous Motor (PMSM) with air-foil bearing. The proposed algorithm is based on iterative adaptive flux observer for sensorless control of the motor in wide speed range by on-line estimating angle and velocity of rotor. Simulation error between actual and estimated angle of rotor is analyzed to enhance characteristics of frequency response of conventional adaptive flux observer, which results in stable response in wide range of speed. Using the iteration number for stable phase-delay characteristics, the observer enhances the dynamic characteristics of the observer within current control period. The experiment results show the reliable performance of the proposed algorithm through starting to high speed operating range.

  • Based on the application of an integrated dynamic brake (IDB) system that uses a PWM inverter fed-AC motor drive to operate the piston, a new active zero state PWM (AZSPWM) is proposed to improve the stability and reliability of the IDB system by suppressing the conducted electro-magnetic interference (EMI) noise under a wide range of load torque. The new AZSPWM reduces common-mode voltage (CMV) by one-third when compared to that of the conventional space vector PWM (CSVPWM). Although this method slightly increases the output current ripple by reducing the CMV, like the CSVPWM, it can be used within the full range of the load torque. Further, unlike other reduced common-mode voltage (RCMV) PWMs, it does not increase the switching power loss. A theoretical analysis is presented and experiments are performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of this method.

  • The effects of native sweet potato starch (NSPS) and sweet potato starch modified by acetylation (MSPS) on dynamic rheological properties of surimi sols were investigated by small-deformation oscillatory measurements. Dynamic frequency sweeps of surimi sols at $10^{\circ}C$ showed that the addition of NSPS and MSPS resulted in a reduction of storage modulus (G') and loss modulus (G"). The tan $\delta$ values (ratio of G"/ G') of all samples were in the range of $0.15{\sim}0.54$ over a wide range of frequency, indicating that all surimi sols are more elastic than viscous. The characteristic G' thermograms of surimi sols during heating from 10 to $90^{\circ}C$ were influenced by the addition of starch. The tan $\delta$ values of all samples were maintained nearly constant above $45^{\circ}C$, showing that the G' is proportional to the G" irrespective of starch effects.
