  • This paper address the scheme for WiMAX backhaul in mobile communication network. These days most ISPs has implemented Wi-Fi backhaul using T1/E1 and DSL. if WiMAX is installed as the alternative to the mobile backhaul, it can decrease the costs drastically for the installation and operations. And it will be one of the best cost-effective solutions to cover the service areas which has not the wired communication infrastructure. WiMAX can be used for Base station, Subscriber Station, and Relay. In this paper, the performance is measured for downstream and upstream using NAT and port forwarding functions by configuring WiMAX server and WiMAX SS.

  • This paper presents the coexistence issues between M-WiMAX TDD and WCDMA FDD systems. To improve the M-WiMAX system performance and to reduce the adjacent channel interference to WCDMA FDD system, transmit and receive beamforming techniques are applied in the base stations of M-WiMAX system. Furthermore, we propose an adjacent channel interference modeling methodology, which captures the effect of transmit beamforming on the adjacent channel interference. Besides, we verify the performance improvement in the uplink of WCDMA system due to the transmit beamforming in M-WiMAX downlink based on the proposed adjacent channel interference modeling methodology. We also verify the performance enhancement due to the receive beamforming in the uplink of M-WiMAX system through system level Monte Carlo simulations, considering random user position, the effect of shadowing and multi-path fading channel. Discussions on the gain of applying transmit and receive beamforming in M-WiMAX system comparing the case of SISO system are also included. Furthermore, we present the performance of cosited M-WiMAX and WCDMA systems, considering commercial deployment, additional channel filter at base stations and the effects of TxBF and RxBF.

  • At present wireless internet access service is available through the 3G network, mobile WiMAX and WiFi anytime and anywhere. In this environment where there are various networks, users should be able to select specific networks depending on different situations. And it is necessary to provide mobility support between homogeneous and between heterogenous networks. Given this situation, the many proposals have been presented to link 3G, which has the largest service area among various networks, with mobile WiMAX(IEEE 802.16e), or with WiFi(IEEE 802.11). But, recently, with the increasing volume of wireless internet use and wireless internet data, due to the advents of net-book, e-book and smart phone, the service area of WiFi and mobile WiMAX has rapidly expanded. Especially, the availability of real-time application such as internet phone has led to the relative shrinking of the proportion of 3G mobile communication network giving conventional voice service, and enlargement of those of wireless internet access networks like WiFi and mobile WiMAX. This paper suggests a handover scheme based on PMIPv6, whitch support mobility between WiFi and mobile WiMAX, and minimizes handover delay. In this scheme, the mobile node has a dual stack structure composed of two interfaces-WiFi and mobile WiMAX. Since WiFi dose not support mobility, it is suggested that the mobile node have the capacity to deal with handover signaling between gateway in case of handover between homogeneous networks. This handover scheme, suggested comparing with current handovers between homogeneous networks, has proved, in its analytic evaluation, to be able to reduce handover, transmission, and signaling overhead.

  • In this paper, Designed and implemented about module that generate division signal for uplink section and downlink section for controlling Tx/Rx antenna of 2.3-2.7GHz WiMAX TDD repeater. It is consisted of RF block and Baseband block, and because function of this module is that synchronize with WiMAX signal and create division signal for uplink section and downlink section, this module was designed only received path. And because of manufacturing of most RF block by one chip, this module could minimize area. And in baseband block, used the WiMAX Modem to detect Preamble and DL-MAP information of WiMAX signal. This design can process about 2.3-2.7GHz WiMAX.

  • 최근 차세대 휴대 인터넷 기술로 WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access)가 주목을 받고 있으며 성능 향상을 위한 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. WiMAX의 성능향상을 위해서는 실제 네트워크 환경에서 연구가 수행되어야 하지만 아직 연구 목적으로 사용할 수 있는 소프트웨어가 부족하다. 본 연구에서는 WiMAX 네트워크의 연결을 관리하고, 연결된 WiMAX 네트워크의 환경 및 PHY/MAC 계층의 정보를 모니터링할 수 있는 소프트웨어인 WiMAX CM(Connection Manager)를 개발하였다. 개발된 WiMAX CM은 확장성을 고려하여 핵심 기능이 SDK(Software Development Kit)형태로 설계되었으며 다양한 WiMAX 네트워크 연결을 위해 접속 프로파일을 관리하고, 네트워크 정보를 실시간으로 모니터링하여 사용자에게 제공한다.

  • Wireless access network section needs strong security which supports high data rate and mobility not to invade patient's privacy by exposing patient's sensitive biometric from automatic implantable device that is adapted to u-healthcare service. This paper builds test bed and performs assessment and measurement of security ability of WiMAX network to transmit and receive mobile patient's biometric by building WiMAX network in wireless access network not to expose paitne's biometirc at wireless access network section to the third person. Specially, this paper compares and assesses data security, MAC control message security, handover conection delay, and frame loss and bandwidth of ECDH at the layer of WiMAX security compliance, WiMAX MAC IPSec, and MAC.

  • The IEEE 802.16-2004 standard has a security sub-layer in the MAC layer called, Privacy Key Management (PKM). However, several researches have been published to address the security vulnerabilities of IEEE 802.16-2004. After the IEEE 802.16-2004 standard, a new advanced and revised standard was released as the IEEE 802.16e-2005 amendment which is foundation of Mobile WiMAX network supporting handoffs and roaming capabilities. PKMv2 in Mobile WiMAX includes EAP authentication, AES-based authenticated encryption, and CMAC or HMAC message protection. However, Mobile WiMAX still has a problem of security architecture such as a disclosure of security context in network entry, a lack of secure communication in network domain, and a necessity of efficient handover supporting mutual authentication because Mobile WiMAX security has mainly concentrated on between SS and BS communication. Based on the investigation results, we propose a novel mobile WiMAX security architecture, called RObust and Secure MobilE WiMAX (ROSMEX), to prevent the new security vulnerabilities.

  • In this paper, we designed monopole microstrip antenna for WLAN/WiMAX system. The monopole antenna is designed by FR-4 substrate with size is $30mm{\times}40mm$. The proposed antenna is based on a planar monopole design which cover WLAN and WiMAX frequency bands. To obtain the optimized parameters, we used the simulator, CST's Microwave Studio Program and found the parameters that greatly effect antenna characteristics. Using the obtained parameters, the antenna is designed. Thus the proposed antenna satisfied the -10 dB impedance bandwidth requirement while simultaneously covering the WLAN and WiMAX bands. And characteristics of gain and radiation patterns are obtained for WLAN/WiMAX frequency bands.
