  • At present wireless internet access service is available through the 3G network, mobile WiMAX and WiFi anytime and anywhere. In this environment where there are various networks, users should be able to select specific networks depending on different situations. And it is necessary to provide mobility support between homogeneous and between heterogenous networks. Given this situation, the many proposals have been presented to link 3G, which has the largest service area among various networks, with mobile WiMAX(IEEE 802.16e), or with WiFi(IEEE 802.11). But, recently, with the increasing volume of wireless internet use and wireless internet data, due to the advents of net-book, e-book and smart phone, the service area of WiFi and mobile WiMAX has rapidly expanded. Especially, the availability of real-time application such as internet phone has led to the relative shrinking of the proportion of 3G mobile communication network giving conventional voice service, and enlargement of those of wireless internet access networks like WiFi and mobile WiMAX. This paper suggests a handover scheme based on PMIPv6, whitch support mobility between WiFi and mobile WiMAX, and minimizes handover delay. In this scheme, the mobile node has a dual stack structure composed of two interfaces-WiFi and mobile WiMAX. Since WiFi dose not support mobility, it is suggested that the mobile node have the capacity to deal with handover signaling between gateway in case of handover between homogeneous networks. This handover scheme, suggested comparing with current handovers between homogeneous networks, has proved, in its analytic evaluation, to be able to reduce handover, transmission, and signaling overhead.

  • This paper is to develop WiMAX CPE(wireless AP) that can provides Wi-Fi terminal with wireless Internet service by connecting to Wibro wireless network. This AP aims to support WiBro in upstream interface basically, and Wi-Fi and 100M Ethernet interface in downstream. So, we has developed the equipment for business that wireless ISP can provide many Internet customers with wireless Internet service by using Wi-Fi terminal in subway, car, ship, and so on, and the equipment for users that a user can purchase and then install in person. For the latter, multiple Wi-Fi terminals that be registered in WiBro service can be connected to Internet simultaneously.

  • This paper address the scheme for WiMAX backhaul in mobile communication network. These days most ISPs has implemented Wi-Fi backhaul using T1/E1 and DSL. if WiMAX is installed as the alternative to the mobile backhaul, it can decrease the costs drastically for the installation and operations. And it will be one of the best cost-effective solutions to cover the service areas which has not the wired communication infrastructure. WiMAX can be used for Base station, Subscriber Station, and Relay. In this paper, the performance is measured for downstream and upstream using NAT and port forwarding functions by configuring WiMAX server and WiMAX SS.

  • Integrated WiMAX and WiFi networks is of great potential for the future due to the wider coverage of WiMAX and the high data transport capacity of WiFi. However, seamless and secure handover (HO) is one of the most challenging issues in this field. In this paper, we present a novel vertical HO authentication scheme with privacy preserving for WiMAX-WiFi heterogeneous networks. Our scheme uses ticket-based and pseudonym-based cryptographic methods to secure HO process and to achieve high efficiency. The formal verification by the AVISPA tool shows that the proposed scheme is secure against various malicious attacks and the simulation result indicates that it outperforms the existing schemes in terms of communication and computation cost.

  • The single device that is combined more than one communication systems in shared band is called collocated system. In this paper, the collocated system is made by combination of Wi-Fi and WiMAX system. Performance of the collocated system is analysed by using two communication model, Collaborative and Non-Collaborative. To minimize the mutual interference between Wi-Fi and WiMAX system in collocated system, the circulator-based collocated system is proposed and analysed it's performance characteristics.

  • Internet phone (VoIP) services in Korea have achieved noticeable growth year after year since the service launching, and the growth still coninues. The market of mobile internet phone also expands sharply. Therefore, it is crucial to deploy networks which can support mobile internet phone services with excellent quality. For mobile internet phone services, it will be necessary to build and use networks with good mobility and high transmission rate. Current wireless networks for Internet services include 3G, Wi-Fi, and mobile WiMAX networks. 3G provides good mobility but lower transmission rate, whereas Wi-Fi exhibits excellent transmission rate but less mobility. Mobile WiMAX networks taking the merits of both, high mobility and transmission rate, are being deployed widely in recent years. This article examines the recent standardization efforts of WiMAX Forum for VoIP service in WiMAX networks.

  • In this study, a novel fractal ring antenna with a compact size of $24{\times}9{\times}0.8mm^3$ was configured using three iterations. Low profile, circular polarization, and measured operating bands (4.5-6.5 GHz) meet specifications of the upper band used in Wi-Fi and WiMAX applications. The antenna featured, stable radiation properties, especially gain and efficiency, in the notched band (92%). In deep, the antenna impedance, reflection coefficients, surface current distribution and circular polarization for the three iterations had been studied to improve the process of antenna design and its radiation characteristics.

  • In this paper, a compact RF Front-end module for Wireless Fidelity(Wi-Fi) and Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access(WiMAX) applications is realized by low temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) technology. The RF Front-end module is composed of three LTCC band-pass filters, a Film Bulk Acoustic Resonator(FBAR) filter, fully embedded matching circuits, an SPDT switch for mode selection, an SPDT switch for Tx/Rx selection, and an SP4T switch for band selection. The parasitic elements of 0.2~0.3 pF are generated by the structure of stacking in the top pad pattern for DC block capacitor of SPDT switch for mode selection. These kinds of parasitic elements break the matching characteristic, and thus, the overall electrical performance of the module is degraded. In order to compensate it, we insert a parallel lumped-element inductor on capacitor pad pattern for DC block, so that we obtain the optimized performance of the RF Front-end module. The fabricated RF front-end module has 12 layers including three inner grounds and it occupies less than $6.0mm{\times}6.0mm{\times}0.728mm$.

  • WiBro technology provide mobile devices with a transmission speed of more than 1 Mbps even under the condition of high mobility (120 km/h). In a building, however, there is more demand for high bandwidth for various activities, and WiBro services may not be available. In order to guaranteeing a seamless service continuity and high transmission capability for mobile users within a specific establishment that has deployed WiBro network, we should secure an internetworking platform for WiBro and WiFi networks. This paper introduces WiMax forum and 3GPP standards, proposes WiBro-WiFi Interworking (WWI) architecture, its implementation details, and finally verifies validity of the proposal by using OPNet simulations.
