초경날식 절삭형 완패스정미기의 개발 (Development of One-Pass Rice Whitener with Cutting Blades of Hard Metal)

  • A one-pass rice whitener with hard metal blades was developed to solve the problems of the existing one-pass rice whitener. The developed one-pass rice whitener was tested and improved through various milling experiments. It showed high performance such as the capacity of 3.5 t/h, the energy consumption of $1.0 kWh/100kg$, milled rice recovery of 91.6%, broken rice rate of 2.2%, the crack rate of 1.9% at the 750 rpm of the roller shaft, compared with those other domestic and foreign one-pass rice whiteners. Especially, it could whiten broun rice of high moisture (16~l7%) with water sprayed at low internal pressure of less than $0.2 kg/cm^2$ and low temperature due to the characteristics of the cutting part composed of 24 hard metal blades. The developed one-pass rice whitener was industrilized and distributed to some rice processing complexs in one fourth price compared with that of imported one-pass rice whiteners.

비백색 잡음 환경에서 정합필터 성능개선을 위한 백색화 기법 (Whitening Method for Performance Improvement of the Matched Filter in the Non-white Noise Environment)

  • 비백색잡음(non-white noise)인 잔향(reverberation)이 신호탐지(signal detection)의 주 방해신호인 천해 능동소나(active sonar) 환경에서의 표적탐지는 선백색화기(pre-whitener)를 사용하여 수신신호를 백색화한 후 백색잡음에서 최적 탐지기(optimum detector)인 정합필터를 사용한다. 그러나 이 방법은 잔향이 비정상(non-stationary) 특성을 가지기 때문에 구현이 매우 힘들다. 기존의 연구에 따르면 이러한 잔향은 지역적 정상상태(local stationary).라고 가정할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 잔향신호의 지역적 정상상태의 범위를 추정(estimation)하고, 이 추정을 바탕으로 비백색 잔향신호 환경에서 선백색화 블록 정규화 정합필터(pre-whitening block normalized matched filter)의 성능을 개선할 수 있는 선백색화 기법을 제안하였다. 제안된 잔향신호의 백색화 기법은 표적신호 전 후의 잔향신호를 사용하여 처리블록(processing block)을 백색화하기 때문에 기존의 백색화 기법보다 우수한 성능을 보였다. 제안된 백색화 기법을 이용한 탐지기의 성능을 평가하기 위해 우리나라 인근해역에서 실측된 데이터를 이용하여 컴퓨터 모의실험을 수행하였다. 모의실험 결과 제안된 기법을 사용한 탐지기는 기존의 백색화 기법을 사용한 탐지기보다 우수한 탐지선응을 보였다.

조합식(組合式) 정백(精白)시스템의 설계(設計) 및 작동인자(作動因子)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究)(I) -분풍(噴風) 연삭식(硏削式) 정미기(精米機)의 설계기준(設計基準) 설정(設定)- (A study on Design and Operational Factors of Rice Whitening Systems Consisting of Abrasive and Frictional whiteners -Design Criteria of Aerated-Abrasive Whitener-)

  • Major rice grain losses both in quality and in quantity are incurred in the whitening process which is indispensable in the milling process. Rice whitening it performed by two different whitening actions known as abrasive and frictional. In Korea, abrasive-type whiteners equipped with a emery-stone roller have been adopted in the whitening system in large scale milling plants, but not in customary small scale. However, researches on this type whitener have rarely been conducted in Korea. This study was attempted to establish design criteria or a modified abrasive-type whitener which is aerated with blower. The factors considered in this study were three levels of feedscrew pitch (20, 27, 34 mm) and three levels of clearance(11, 13, 15 mm) between surfaces or emery-stone roller and screen and two levels of moisture content (14.5%, 15.7%, w.b.) of brown rice. Also, the effect of aeration on whitening performance was examined, and a system performance consisting of one pass in the aerated abrasive-type and two passes in the existing friction type was compared with the performance of the existing whitening system consisting of three passes in friction type only. The latter system is prevailed in customery small milling plants. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1. The interactions between feed-screw pitch and chamber clearance of the aerated abrasive-type whitener had great effect on the performance of the machine. When the value of a nondimensional parameter, $C^2/(P{\cdot}d_p)$, expressing the relations between feed-screw pitch, P, and chamber clearance, C, ranged from 0.40 to 0.45, the performance of the aerated abrasive-type whitener was the best. 2. Aeration to the abrasive-type whitener gave positive effect on milled and head rice recoveries. 3. The whitening system involving the aerated abrasive-type whitener, which has appropriate feed-screw pitch and chamber clearance as described in item 1 above, produced more milled and head rice recoveries by about 1.5% and 2.0%, respectively, than the existing frictional whitening system. The former also consumed less electricity by about 10% (0.9KwH/1000kg).

미백제가 법랑질 명도 변화에 미세경도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Tooth Whitener on the Color and Microhardness of Human Enamel in Vitro)

  • Human teeth vary widely in color. Practitioner and patients are concerned with preventing and correcting discolored or dark teeth to achieve and maintain stain-free, white teeth. Tooth brushing cannot alter tooth color but it can remove adhering films and stains. The esthetics of natural dentition can be improved by bleaching and this process can be applied to intrinsically and extrinsically stained teeth. The need for a brighter, more attractive smile has made rapid growth in the market for tooth whiteners. There is no doubt these products work as whiteners, at least on mild to moderate stains, but the safety of these products are unclear. In this experiment, the effect of tooth whitener application on the color and microhardness of extracted human enamel was measured. RMS, RMT and NWT were used as tooth whiteners, and tooth paste(ETQ) and hydrogen peroxide solution(HPO) were used as controls. 35 caries-free extracted human molars were embedded and polished with the exposed enamel diameter of 4 mm. The tooth whiteners and control agents were applied according to the manufacturers' instructions or clinically simulated procedures for eight weeks, and measurements were repeated every two weeks. Value(L*) difference was measured using Differential Colorimeter(Model TC-6FX, Denshoku Co., Japan), and microhardness was measured using microhardness tester(Mitsuzawa Seiki Co., Japan). The results were as follows; 1. After application of agents for eight weeks, the Vickers hardness increased significantly in the ETQ, RMS and RMT application group(p〈0.01), and that decreased significantly in NWT application group(p〈0.01), but in HPO application group there was no significant change. The change in microhardness was greatest in NWT application group(p〈0.01). 2. After application of tooth whiteners and controls for eight weeks, the value change of toothpaste application group was significantly lower than those of other agents groups(p〈0.01), and there was no significant difference in value(L*) change among tooth whitener groups(p〉0.01). 3. The application of tooth paste and paste type tooth whitener made gradual value change, but hydrogen peroxide gel type tooth whitener and hydrogen peroxide solution made rapid value change during initial application period.

Development of a Piezoelectric Ultrasonic Tooth-whitening Apparatus

  • The aim of this study was to develop an ultrasonic tooth-whitening apparatus using piezoelectric transducers, which enhance bleaching efficiency by applying ultrasound, while performing a teeth whitening procedure. For this purpose, an ultrasonic transducer was designed and manufactured, and the effects of reduction in the whitening material's concentration and in the whitening treatment time through using the ultrasound cavitation phenomenon were confirmed. Also, the validity of this study was investigated by comparing the whitening performance with a commercialized optical whitener, through color comparison. The results revealed that the ultrasound whitener produced color values that were enhanced by as much as double that of the conventional LED light whitening method. Even when the operational time was reduced by half, the ultrasound method showed superior performance by over 54% compared to the conventional light whitener, revealing that the ultrasound method showed a remarkable treatment reduction effect.

조합식(組合式) 정백(精白)시스템의 설계(設計) 및 작동인자(作動因子)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究)(II) -작동기준(作動基準) 설정(設定)- (A Study on Design and Operational Factors of Rice Whitening Systems Consisting of Abrasive and Frictional Whiteners -Operational Criteria-)

  • Operation of rice whiteners has been depending on operator's experience only and very limitted data are available for operational criteria of rice whiteners in Korea. With developments of new rice varieties and with a tendency of automation of machine operations for precision control, operational criteria depending on physical characteristics of rice grains arc required for an improvement of milled rice recovery and the performance of rice whitening systems. An experimental study was conducted to identify operational criteria of a rice whitening system consisted with an abrasive-aerated whitener developed newly and a frictional-aerated whitener being used commercially. Further, comparisons were made between the performance of the rice whitening system adopted for this study and a commercial system used in small scale milling plants. Results of this study are summarized as follows: 1. Total number of passes necessary for the final white rice in the combined whitening system depended exclusively on the counter pressure level of the frictional whitener successive to the abrasive whitener. 2. The counter pressure required for whitening Japonica type rice variety (Akibare) was higher by about 1.6 times than that for Japonica type (Pung-san), when other conditions were kept at the same. 3. Radial pressure in the whitening chamber of the frictional whitener should be maintained between 1.5 to $2.1kg/cm^2$ for the completion of whitening within 5 to 3 passes regardless of rice varieties. Hence, it was found that the radial pressure in the whitening chamber could be used as an operational criteria to control the counter pressure level. 4. The following regression equation was found between radial pressure($R_p$) in whitening chamber and electric power consumption of the whitening system: $$EPC=-0.545\;R^2_p+1.277\;R_p+0.874[KWH/100kg]$$ 5. The following multiple regression equation was found among radial pressure ($R_p$), counter pressure ($C_p$), and bioyield point ($B_i$), length (L) and width (W) of brown rice. $$R_p/(B_i/W^2)=0.547\{C_p/(B_i/W^2)\}^{0.365}(L/W)^{0.120}(R^2=0.9897)$$ 6. The milled rice recovery and machine efficiency (kg/KWH) from the combined whitening system were higher by about 2.0% point and by 15 to 27% point than those from the conventional system, respectively.

도정수율(搗精收率)과 성능향상(性能向上)을 위(爲)한 연구(硏究)(V) -분풍(噴風) 연삭식(硏削式) 정미기(精米機)의 정백성능(精白性能)에 관(關)한 실험적(實驗的) 연구(硏究)- (Study on the Improvement of Milling Recovery and Performance (V) -Experimental Study on Rice Whitening Performance of Jet-air Abrasive-Type Whitener -)

  • The milling process is considered as causing one of the greatest grain losses among all the processes in rice post-production. Major source of grain losses in the rice milling is considered as the whitening process. This study was attempted to develop an abrasive-type whitener, the whitening chamber of which being supplied by jet-air evenly and continuously. To investigate the milling performance by the new whitener, three kind of emery-stone grit(#36, #41, and #46), and three levels of rotational speed of emery stone roller (950, 1070, and 1200 rpm) were tested. The jet-air abrasive-type whitener was also compared with the conventional abrasive-type having no jet-air blower in terms of their milling performance. In addition, the effect of different combinations of sequential uses of the abrasive- and friction-type whiteners on the milling performance was also experimentally evaluated. The results of this study are summarized as follows; 1. In general, the whitening system combined with the abrasive type whitener with jet-air supply, which was newly designed, and the existing jet-air friction type whiteners produces more milled- and head-rice by about 0.3% points and 2.8% points, respectively than the system combined with the existing abrasive type without the jet-air supply under the same operational conditions. The former also consumed less electricity by 0.024 KwH per 100kg of milled rice production and gave more milling capacity by about 35 kg/hr. As compared with the conventional whitening system consisting of jet-air friction type whiteners only, the former yielded more milled- and head-rice by 1.5% points and 4.4% points, respectively. 2. The abrasive roller having 46 grit emery was better than the roller having 36 grit in aspects of milling performance and machine efficiency, in general. 3. With regard to the effect of combination method of abrasive type and friction type whiteners, one pass in abrasive type plus three passes in friction type gave better milling performance and energy efficiency than the two passes in abrasive type plus two passes in friction type regardless of the designs of the emery stone rollers. 4. The increase in rotational speed of the emery stone roller from 950 rpm to 1200 rpm presented negative effects on milled and head-rice yields and machine efficiency, but slightly positive effect on milling capacity.

비 유지방 분말크림 제조시 유화 안정성의 비교 (A Comparison of Emulsion Stability as Non-Dairy Coffee Whitener Preparation)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of the emulsion stability according to the quantity of emulsifiers and the pressure of homogenizer in coffee whitener preparation. The results of this study are as follow : 1. To obtain a standard emulsifier, the ratio of mono and triglycerides(Atoms 150), sorbitan monostearate (Span 60) and polyoxylene(20) sorbitan monostearate(Tween 60) was 60 . 20 : 20 and the optimum quantity was about 0.9fS for stable emulsion. 2. Characteristics as coffee whitner were markedly improved when the pressure of homogenizer was 200∼250kg1cmz and homogenizing times are over 4. 3. The good whitening capacity was showed when fat glouble's average diameter was under 0.5 Um.

  • 식량의 증산을 위해서 신품종 개발과 재배기술 못지 않게 중요한 것은 수확 후 곡물의 손실을 줄이고, 고품질의 쌀을 생산하기 위한 건조, 저장, 도정, 포장 및 유통 등 수확후 처리 기술의 확립이라 할 수 있다. 고 등(1993)은 도정 공정중에 발생하는 손실은 대부분이 정백과정에서 발생하므로 정백수율, 완전미수율 및 정백 효율을 극대화시키기 위해서는 정미기의 특성을 고려하여 여러 가지 형태로 정백 시스템을 구성해야 한다고 하였다. 따라서 도정수율과 품위를 높일 수 있도록 정백시스템을 구성하는 것은 매우 중요하다 하겠다. 멜라민을 함유시킨 식품에서의 MS-전자코를 이용한 멜라민 분석 (Analysis of Melamine in Melamine-added Foods Using Mass Spectrometry-based Electronic Nose)

  • 멜라민을 첨가하는 제품들에 대한 기존의 분석법의 한계를 극복하고자 전자코를 이용하여 멜라민 첨가 진위 여부와 첨가 함량의 차이를 분석하였다. 그 결과 멜라민을 분유와 커피 크림에 농도별로 첨가하였을 때 차이가 뚜렷이 구분되었으며 이를 통해 얻은 멜라민 농도와 DF1간의 상관관계식(분유: DF1= -0.006x(멜라민 농도)+0.327, 커피 크림: DF1= -0.006x+0.316)을 바탕으로 멜라민 함량을 적은 오차 범위 내에서 예측 가능하였다. 또한 멜라민을 urea로부터 합성하는 과정에서 생성되는 부산물인 cyanuric acid는 멜라민과 유사하여 기존의 분석방법으로는 쉽게 구분되지 않지만 전자코를 통하여 확연히 구분되었다. 멜라민을 분유나 커피 크림에 첨가하였을 경우에는 농도별로 차이를 보였으며 urea 혹은 cyanuric acid 첨가 유무에 따라서는 미세한 차이는 보였지만 첨가양에 따른 일정한 경향을 나타나지 않은 것으로 보아 유사물질의 영향을 거의 받지 않으면서 멜라민 자체만의 분석이 가능한 것으로 보인다. 이러한 연구를 통하여 향후 미지의 멜라민 함량이 첨가된 1차 가공품에 대한 함유량을 분석하는 것이 가능하며 제품의 품질관리시 활용할 수 있는 대안을 제시할 수 있을 것이다.
