Objective: The purpose of this in vitro study was to examine the effects of fluoridated, casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate complex (CPP-ACP)-containing, and functionalized ${\beta}$-tricalcium phosphate (fTCP)-containing toothpastes on remineralization of white spot lesions (WSLs) by using Quantitative light-induced fluorescence (QLF-D) Biluminator$^{TM}$ 2. Methods: Forty-eight premolars, extracted for orthodontic reasons from 12 patients, with artificially induced WSLs were randomly and equally assigned to four treatment groups: fluoride (1,000 ppm), CPP-ACP, fTCP (with sodium fluoride), and control (deionized water) groups. Specimens were treated twice daily for 2 weeks and stored in saliva solution (1:1 mixture of artificial and human stimulated saliva) otherwise. QLF-D Biluminator$^{TM}$ 2 was used to measure changes in fluorescence, indicating alterations in the mineral contents of the WSLs, immediately before and after the 2 weeks of treatment. Results: Fluorescence greatly increased in the fTCP and CPP-ACP groups compared with the fluoride and control groups, which did not show significant differences. Conclusions: fTCP- and CPP-ACP-containing toothpastes seem to be more effective in reducing WSLs than 1,000-ppm fluoride-containing toothpastes.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of resin infiltration technique on color and surface hardness of white spot lesion (WSL) with various degrees of demineralization. Materials and Methods: Ten human upper premolars were cut and divided into quarters with a $3{\times}4mm$ window on the enamel surface. Each specimens were separated into four groups (n = 10) and immersed in demineralization solution to create WSL: control, no treatment (baseline); 12 h, 12 hr demineralization; 24 h, 24 hr demineralization; 48 h, 48 hr demineralization. Resin infiltration was performed to the specimens using Icon (DMG). $CIEL^*a^*b^*$ color parameters of the enamel-dentin complex were determined using a spectroradiometer at baseline, after caries formation and after resin infiltration. Surface hardness was measured by Vickers Micro Hardness Tester (Shimadzu, HMV-2). The differences in color and hardness among the groups were analyzed with ANOVA followed by Tukey test. Results: Resin infiltration induced color changes and increased the hardness of demineralized enamel. After resin infiltration, there was no difference in color change (${\Delta}E^*$) or microhardness among the groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: There was no difference in the effect of resin infiltration on color and hardness among groups with different extents of demineralization.

Objective: Assess and evaluate the different indicators of oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) among patients treated with clear aligners (CAs) versus those treated with conventional fixed orthodontics (FAs). Methods: An electronic search was performed on the database is Web of Science, Scopus, and Embase databases. Randomized and non-randomized control trials, cross-sectional, prospective cohort and retrospective trials were included. Quality was assessed with risk of bias tool and risk of bias in non-randomised studies. Meta-analyses were performed with random effects models, estimating the standardized and non-standardized mean differences, odds ratio and risk ratio as the measure of effect. The effect on time was determined using a meta-regression model. Results: Thirty one articles were included in the qualitative synthesis and 17 in the meta-analysis. CAs had a significantly lower negative impact on QoL, with an "important" effect size, while the influence of time was not significant. Periodontal indicators plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), probing depth (PD), and bleeding on probing show significantly better values in patients treated with CAs, with moderate to large effect sizes. PI and GI have a significant tendency to improve over time. In microbiological indicators, CAs present a lower biofilm mass without differences in the percentage of patients with high counts of Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacilli bacteria. The risk of white spot lesion onset is ten times lower in carriers of CAs. Conclusions: Patients wearing CAs show better periodontal indicators, less risk of white spot development, less biofilm mass and a better QoL than patients with FAs.
For the production of healthy shrimp(Penaeus chinensis, Penaeus japonicus) seedlings free from the white spot baculovirus(WSBV), we tried to disinfect shrimp eggs with iodine. A relative hatching rate of over 50% has resulted from the treatments of fertilized eggs of fresh shrimps(P. chinensis) with an effective povidon-iodine concentration of 20-200 ppm for 30 seconds and 60 seconds, respectively. The 60 sec treatment group with a 20 ppm effective povidon-iodine concentration showed nearly a 50% relative hatching rate. The over 50 ppm treatment group, however, did not result in hatching show a relative hatching rate. These hatching rates were similar to those in the fertilized eggs of kuruma prawns treated with povidon-iodine solutions. In case of washing fertilized eggs with UV-irradiated seawater 33.3% relative hatching rate in fresh shrimps was much lower than 55.2% in kuruma shrimps. Treatment fertilized eggs of 2 species of shrimp with 200 ppm iodine for 30 sec did not affect the survival rate of the larvae until the early stage of the post larvae even though the hatching rates were low. In order to produce healthy shrimp seedlings non-infected by WSBV, the shrimp eggs should be washed with UV-irradated seawater and sterilized with a low povidon-iodine concentration for a short time.
White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) is one of the most virulent viral agents in the penaeid shrimp culture industry. In this study, WSSV in a Fenneropenaeus chinensis shrimp farm and an adjacent seawater were concentrated using a membrane filtration and quantified using the quantitative real-time PCR (QRT-PCR) method with newly designed primers and Taqman probe. Sensitivity of primers and probe was proven by WSSV standard curve assay in QRT-PCR. In order to demonstrate the relationship between WSSV and environmental parameters, physicochemical and biological parameters of the farm and influent seawaters were monitored from June to September, 2007. The abundance of WSSV ranged 3,814-121,546 copies per 1 liter of seawater, which was correlated with fecal enterococci ($r^2=0.9$, p=0.02), chlorophyll ${\alpha}$ ($r^2=0.8$, p=0.03) and $BOD_5$ ($r^2=0.8$, p=0.07). Subsequently, it is concluded that the QRT-PCR method using Taqman probe established in this study was efficient to clarify the quantification of WSSV in seawaters. Statistical analyses of environmental parameters obtained in this study also showed that the abundance of WSSV was correlated with several biological parameters rather than physicochemical parameters.

The effects of spot cooling on growing ever-bearing strawberry in hydroponic cultivation during summer by spot cooling system was estimated in plastic greenhouse located in Pyeongchang. The temperature of cooling water was controlled by heat pump and maintained at the range of $15{\sim}20^{\circ}C$. Cooling pipes were installed in root zone and very close to crown. Spot cooling effect was estimated by applying system in three cases which were cooling root zone, crown plus root zone, and crown only. White low density polyethylene pipe in nominal diameter of 16 mm was installed on crown spot, and Stainless steel flexible pipe in nominal diameter of 15A was installed in root zone. Crown and root zone cooling water circulation was continuously performed at flowrates of 300 ~ 600 L/hr all day long. Strawberry yields by test beds were surveyed from Aug. 1 to Sep. 30. The accumulated yield growth rate compared with a control bed of crown cooling bed was 25 % and that of crown plus root zone cooling bed was 25 % and that of root zone cooling bed was 20 %. The temperatures of root spot in root zone cooling was maintained at $18{\sim}23.0^{\circ}C$ and that of crown spot in crown cooling was maintained at $19{\sim}24^{\circ}C$. Also, the temperatures of root spot in crown plus root zone cooling bed was maintained at $17.0{\sim}22.0^{\circ}C$ and that of crown spot was maintained at $19{\sim}25^{\circ}C$.

The practical monitoring was performed to survey the mortalities in aquaculture farms of olive flounder, rockfish, rainbow trout, Japanese eel, white shrimp and abalone in South Korea from May to November, 2011. The aquatic organism disease inspectors, who have the national licenses for the diagnosis and prevention of aquatic disease and have close relationship with the farms, investigated the rates and causes of mortalities according to the standard manual. In 70 flounder farms, the cumulative mortalities rate was 27.9%, and the mortalities were caused by scuticociliatosis, streptococcosis, VHS, non-infectious loss, vibriosis and gliding bacterial disease. The moralities rate of 30 rockfish farms was 13.6%, and those were mainly contributed by gill flukes and streptococcosis. Most of mortalities of rainbow trout were caused by non-infectious loss and protozoan white spot disease. The mortalities rate of Japanese eel was 0.6% by edwardsiellosis, protozoan white spot disease and gill flukes. The loss rate of white shrimp was 71.2%, and most of them was related with non-infectious ones, such as carnivalization, transportation loss, and the rest was caused by viral white spot disease. The mortalities rate in the abalone farms was 10.7% and all of them were related with non-infectious loss.
Since 1993, the White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) disease occurred in China among cultured shrimps resulting in mass mortality. Epizootiological surveys undertaken during the outbreak period of 1993-1994 indicated that all stages of Penaeus chinensis, P. japonicus and P. monodon were infected. Consequent to the transport of contaminated shrimp seedlings and seawater, the disease spread all over the farms of China. The disease was more rapidly transmitted at temperatures above $25^{\circ}C$. Challenge experiments showed the causative agent was highly virulent. White spots appeared on the carapace of both span-taneous and experimentally infected shrimps. Moribund shrimps contained turbid hemolymph, hypertrophied Iymphoid organ and a necrotic mid-gut gland. Electron microscopy showed the presence of viral particles in the gills, stomach, lymphoid organ, and epidermal tissue of the infected shrimp. The visions were slightly ovoid with an envelope and averaged 350 $\times$ 150 nm; nucleocapsids measured 375 $\times$ 157 nm. With discontinuous sucrose gradient of 35, 50 and 60% (w/v), the virus was separated from hemolymph of the infected shrimp. The estimated molecular weight of genomic DNA was 237 Kb with EcoR I, 247 Kb with Hind III and 241kb with Pst I. A total of 9 hybridoma colones secreting monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) were produced from mouse myeloma and spleen cells immunized with WSSV. The immunofluorescence assay of gill tissue showed that the MAbs reacted with diseased but not with healthy shrimp. The MAbs belonged to IgGl, IgG2b subclass and IgM class, all with kappa light Immune-electron-microscopy with colloidal gold marker showed the presence of 5 MAbs epitopes on the envelope and one on the capsid of the virus. Baculoviral mid-gut gland necrosis showed the specificity of the MAbs produced. For diagnosis 5 different methods were selected. Using Kimura primers for PCR, or MAbs for immunoblot, ELISA or FAT method, in situ hybridization was carried out to show the gene. All these methods detected WSSV in the organ samples of the diseased shrimp but not in healthy one.
Many automotive companies are endeavoring to improve the quality of resistance spot welding by updating body-in-white (BIW) production line with adaptive control spot welding system to compensate the process disturbances such as gap, electrode wear, oxidized surfaces, poor fit up and adhesive etc. Most of the commercial adaptive weld controllers require proper "Initial Welding Schedule" or "Reference weld" to achieve compensation in welding parameters during real time welding. In this study, the compensation of a commercial adaptive weld controller had been observed and analyzed thoroughly for various process disturbances to find optimal initial welding schedule. It was observed that 90 percent of the expulsion current in constant current control as reference welding schedule conferred the maximum button diameter in adaptive control welding. Finally, effects of each disturbance in combined field disturbances system with adaptive control had also been confirmed with the design of experiment (DOE) by minitab(R)16 for combined disturbances situation and suitability of optimum initial weld current had also established with real body part validation test.
