  • The effect of volume fraction of Cr carbide phase (Cr CVF) on the low stress abrasion resistance in the chromium-carbide-type high Cr white iron hardfacing weld deposits has been investigated. In order to examine Cr CVF, a series of alloys with varying Cr CVF by changing chromium and carbon contents and the ratio of Cr/C were employed. The alloys were deposited once or twice on a mild steel plate using the self-shielding flux cored arc welding process. The low stress abrasion resistance of the alloys against sands was measured by the Dry Sand/Rubber Wheel Abrasion Test (RWAT). It was shown that hardness and abrasion resistance increased with increasing Cr CVF within the whole test range (Cr CVF : 0.23-0.64). Both primary Cr carbide and eutectic Cr carbide were particularly effective in resisting wear due to their high hardness.

Iron-Solubilizing Isolate of Meat : Physiological , Compositional and Physicochemical Characteristics

  • Studies were performed to 1) investigate if ferric iron bound in complex with iron-solubilizing meat components is absorbable, 2) compare the relative iron-solubilizing capaicty of meats, and 3) investigate the physicochemical and compositional characteristics if meat meat has iron-solubilizing components . Iron-solubilizing components of beef were isolate from pH 2 HCL homogenates into dialysis bags(MWCO of 6-8K). Radiolabelled iron complexes were then generated using ferric iron and the isolated low-molecular-weight components(ILC) from undigested beef or ascrobate. The bioavailabilities of radioiron in these complexes or as ferric iron were measured as radioiron absorption into the blood one hour after injection into ligated duodenal lops of rats. Iron absorptions were ferrous -ascorbate complexes(18.8$\pm$2.2%)> ferric-ILC complexes(4.9$\pm$0.6%)>ferric iron (23.2$\pm$0.3%)(p<0.05). ILC from 0.1g of beef, pork, chicken, fish , or egg white were added to 400$\mu$g ferric iron in pH 2 HCL, the pH raised to 7,2, and soluble iron determined in the supernatant after centrifugation at 2,500g for 10 min. Iron solubilizing capabilities of ILC were pork (99.9$\pm$0.1%)>beef(93.6$\pm$3.5%)> chicken (75.8$\pm$1.8%) > fish(64.6%$\pm$3.6%)>egg white(50.9$\pm$0.9%)(p<0.05). The compositional and physico-chemical characteristics of the ILC from the above dietary protein sources were investigated.

  • The effects of Se, $CaCO_3$ and CaO addition on the first stage graphization of malleable iron were evaluated. The results obtained in this work were as follows. 1. Many gas bubbles were found in the white cast iron under Se, $CaCO_3$ addition. 2. Nodular graphite were formed by annealing of the white cast iron with remained gas bubbles. 3. When specimens were annealed, bubbles provided the nucleation sites that were needed in graphite precipitation, so the nucleation rate of graphite was increased. 4. The remained gas bubbles and defects were more effective for the graphitization than metallic compounds.

인제 부평리유적 출토 슬래그 분석을 통한 제철 과정 연구 (A Study of the Iron Production Process through the Analysis of Slags Excavated from Bupyeong-ri, Inje, Korea)

  • 본 연구에서는 인제 부평리유적 4-2지구 통일신라시대 제철유적에서 출토된 슬래그 5점에 대해 분석을 수행하였으며 그 결과를 통하여 당시의 제철공정을 밝히고자 하였다. 인제 부평리유적출토 슬래그의 전철량은 3.65~23.78%로 고대 제철에서 일반적으로 나타나는 전철량보다 상당히 낮았다. 조재량 또한 65.92~88.96%로 매우 높아 철과 슬래그의 분리가 원활하게 이루어졌을 것으로 보이며 그로 인해 철의 회수율이 상당히 좋았을 것으로 추정된다. 화합물 분석결과 대부분의 시료에서는 크리스토발라이트가 검출되었으며 FAS 상태도와 FCS 상태도에 분석된 데이터를 대입하여 추정한 노 내 온도 또한 1600℃ 이상으로 나타나 탄소를 포함한 철이 완전히 용융되어 주철을 생산하기에 충분한 온도로 조업이 이루어졌음을 확인하였다. 미세조직 관찰 결과 철편에서는 백주철 조직이 관찰되고 백주철 조직에서 철-탄소-인의 3원계 공정인 스테다이트가 함께 관찰되었다. 이는 제철부산물이 생성될 당시 주조 공정을 위한 간접제련이 이루어졌다는 증거가 된다. 분석결과를 토대로 인제 부평리유적은 철광석을 용해하여 선철을 생산한 간접제련유적인 것을 추정하였다.

  • 백색육어를 배소한 경우와 배소한 시료를 저온에 저장 후, 단계적으로 가열처리했을 때 일어나는 산화에 의한 heme 화합물의 변화를 조사하였다. Heme 화합물 중 myoglobin 함량은 각시가자미나 조기 모두 180$^{\circ}C$에서 20분간 어피 제거육의 상태로 배소한 것이 상대적으로 감소폭이 컸으며 가열, 재가열에 의해서도 감소하는 경향이었다. Myoglobin의 감소 추세에 따라 metmyoglobin 함량은 역으로 점차 증가하는 경향이었으며, 배소온도가 낮을수록 또한 어피를 제거함으로써 생성된 metmyoglobin의 함량이 높았다. 총철 함량은 배소온도와 시간을 달리하여 처리하여도 두 어종 모두 생시료와는 함량 차이가 거의 없었다. 비 heme 철은 각시가자미의 경우 생시료에는 총철함량에 대해 약 $20\%$ 정도 함유되어 있었으나, 180$^{\circ}C$에서 20분간 어피 제거육의 상태로 배소했을 경우 생시료에 비해 약 2배 정도 증가하였다. 조기는 생시료에는 건물당으로 약 0.8mg/100g 함유되어 있었으나 배소, 가열 및 재가열과 같은 반복되는 가열과정에 의해 증가하였다. Heme 철 함량은 각시가자미와 조기 모두 비 heme 철의 증가에 반비례해서 감소하였으며 또한 배소시간이 길수록 그리고 어피 잔존육보다는 어피 제거육의 감소폭이 더 컸다.

고양 벽제 제철 유구 출토 철기의 분석을 통한 제철방법 연구 (A Study on Iron-manufacture Method through Analysis of Ironware excavated from Byeokje, Goyang)

  • 철기 생산 기술은 당시 사회 발전을 가늠하는 척도로서 과거의 제철 방법을 이해하기 위한 철기 유물의 미세조직과 개재물에 대한 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 고려시대로 추정되는 고양 벽제 제철 유구에서 일괄로 수습된 철제 유물의 시편을 채취하여 광학현미경과 미세경도시험기, SEM-EDS를 이용하여 미세 조직의 성분분석을 통해 제철과 제련 기술을 추론하여 보았다. 연구결과 철괴는 주철괴와 탄소강 철괴로 분류되었다. 주철괴의 경우 백주철 조직과 인(P)의 함량이 높은 회주철 조직으로 분류되었으며 회주철 내 높은 P의 함량은 석회질 등의 융제가 첨가되며 혼입된 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 주철 조직의 철괴 및 고탄소강 철괴는 제련공정을 거치지 않은 선철들로 추정된다. 또한 철기 제작에는 크게 두가지 방법이 사용된 것으로 판단된다. 첫번째는 주물에 주철을 부어 제작하는 주철괴 제작 방법이며, 두번째는 선철의 제련 공정을 통하여 생산되는 탄소강을 제작하는 방법이다. 특히 탄소강의 고른 강 조직과 적은 양의 MnS 개재물은 현대 제철 조직과 매우 유사한 특징을 지니나 고양 벽제 제철유구에서 수습된 탄소강 내 Mn의 함유에 대하여 판단하기에는 좀 더 많은 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이며, 주철의 제강공정을 통한 고탄소강의 생산 가능성도 염두에 두어야 할 것으로 사료된다.

이중복합 주조체의 제조에 미치는 구성 재질과 주조 조건의 영향 (Influences of Casting Conditions and Constituent Materials on the Production of Duo-castings)

  • In this study, the effects of the pouring temperature, preheating temperature, surface condition and fraction of the wear resistant part on the production of duo-castings were investigated using a high Cr white cast iron with excellent abrasion resistance and a low Cr alloy steel with good toughness. The constituent materials of the duo-castings were designed to have high hardness, fracture toughness and abrasive wear resistance for the replacement of high Mn alloy steels with low abrasive wear resistance. In particular, the amount of abrasive wear of 17% Cr white cast iron was about 1/20 of that of high Mn alloy steel. There was an intermediate area of about 3mm due to local melting at the bonding interface of the duo-castings. These intermediate regions were different from those of the constituent materials in chemical composition and microstructure. This region led to fracture within the wear resistant part rather than at the bonding interface in the bending strength test. The bending fracture strengths were 516-824 MPa, which were equivalent to the bending proof strength of high Mn steel. The effects of various casting conditions on the duo-cast behavior were studied by simple pouring of low Cr alloy steel melt, but the results proved practically impossible to manufacture duo-castings with a sound bonding interface. However, the external heating method was suitable for the production of duo-castings with a sound bonding interface.

서울과 경기지역의 사무직과 육체적 노동직 급식간의 영양공급량 비교 연구 (Comparative study of worksite food service between white and Blue color Groups in Seoul and kyunggi-Do)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the dietary and nutritional status supplied by group feeding for blue color and white color in Seoul and Kyunggi area. The results are summarized as follows : 1. Blue color and white color of the average food supply per person per day was 1370.0g. Blue color of the total fool supply was consisted of 35.1% grain, 44.1% vegetables. White color of the total fool supply was consisted of 31.8% grain, 44.0% vegetable. The amount of milk product, fruit and fat supply were very small. 2. Blue color and white color of the ratio of main dish and side dish supplied was 69 : 31, 60.0 : 39.7. 3. Main dish all is rice. Side dish ard kinds of soupes and Jigeai Johngol in the two groups. In the kind of side dish white color much more than blue color. Dessert are scarcely supplied in the two groups. 4. The mean daily supplies of energy and 9 nutrients were above the level of the R.D.A. Blue color and white color of the mean daily amount of energy supply was 2653.0㎉ 3022.6㎉. Blue color and white color of the ratio of carbohydrate, protein, and fat supplied was 68.4%, 18.6%, 13.1%, and 62.1%, 20.9%, 17.0%. 5. Blue color and white color of the average feeding cost amounts to 460won, 812won per meal. 6. Blue color; There were high correlations in supply amoung energy, protein, fat. Carbohydrate, calcium, iron, riboflavin, niacin. White color; There were high correlation in supply amoung energy, protein, carbohydrate, calcium, iron, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vit-C.

  • The effect of matrix phase (austenite, pearlite, martensite) on the low stress abrasion resistance in the chromium-carbide-type high Cr white iorn hardfacing weld deposites has been investigated. In order to examine matrix phase, a series of alloys with different matrix phase by changing the ratio of Cr/C system by heat treatment were employed. The alloys were deposited twice on a mild steel plate using self-shielding flux cored arc welding process. The low stress abrasion resistance of the alloys against sands was measured by the Dry Sand/Rubber Wheel Abrasion Test(RWAT). Even though formation of pearlite phase in the matrix showed higher hardness than that of austenite, there was no observable difference in wear resistance between the pearlite and austenite phase for the same amount of chromium-carbide in the matrix. On the other hand, the formation of martensitic phase,, from heat treated austenitic alloys (high content of Cr), enhanced wear resistance due to its fine secondary precipitates.

LED Light Quality Protects Iron Deficiency and Improves Photosynthesis and Biomass Yield in Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.)

  • Iron (Fe) is a vital element for plants and other organisms, involving in several physiological processes including respiration, chlorophyll biosynthesis, and photosynthesis. Unfortunately, how Fe accumulation regulates in response to light quality has not been well established in plants. Therefore, the aim of the study was to explore the mechanism of Fe homeostasis by light quality. In this study, we found morpho-physiological attributes were significantly improved in response to blue (λmax: 450) compared to white (λmax: 500) and red (λmax: 660) light. The root-shoot length, plant biomass, photosynthesis efficiency (Fv/Fm) and leafgreen (SPAD) significantly declined in response to white and red light. However, these parameters were improved and iron deficiency was substantially alleviated by blue light exposure in alfalfa seedlings. This study might be useful to the forage breeders and farmers for improving alfalfa yield and nutritional benefits.
