Improvement of color mixing in an RGB lamp using tilled lenses (경사렌즈를 사용한 RGB LED전구 색혼합 향상)

  • This paper presents a method of improvement of color mixing in an RGB LED white lamp. The deviation from white light after RGB color mixing results mainly from the difference in the ray direction among LEDs. The authors propose a method using tilted lenses covered over each LED to deflect the overall direction of the ray generated from far-sited LEDs toward the center axis of the lamp. The degree of improvement is evaulated using a color discrimination method based on McAdam ellipse.

  • 0.25 mm thickness super thin surface mounted device LED Lamp is developed with PCB type lead frame in which BT (Bismaleimide Triazine) resin is used. BT resin is removed by a laser beam in order to reduce the thermal resistance below $1\;^{\circ}C/W$ and transfer molding is used with silicone. Compared to conventional 0.4 mm thickness LED lamp, the developed LED lamp can be derived in high current and the luminance of the LED lamp is increased up to 240 mA.

Characteristics of Spectral Irradiance Based on the Distance from the Light Source and Operating Method for Fishing Lamps with a Combined Light Source (이종(異種) 광원 조합에 의한 복수 광원의 분광 방사특성과 광달(光達) 거리 및 집어등 운용방법)

  • Characteristics of spectral irradiance based on the distance from the light source, which combined metal halide lamp and high-luminance light-emitting diode (LED) light, were studied to investigate a suitable operating method for fishing lamps of the next generation. A 380-780 nm wavelength radiation was superior when using 1 W electrical power in the order of metal halide lamp, blue LED, white LED, and combined LED lights. The wavelengths at which the irradiance was at a maximum were fixed to 581 nm for the light source, which was combined for each ratio. If the irradiance characteristics at 300-1100 nm wavelengths were set as 100%, the irradiance rates at 400-599 nm were 100%, 72.7%, 88.9%, and 69.5% for the blue, white, combined LED lights, and metal halide lamp, respectively. This indicated that the color rendering of the LED lights was dependent on the metal halide lamp light source. When the horizontal profiles (450-550 nm wavelength) of irradiances were compared to a different type of light source in the ratio white LED: combined LED lights: blue LED: metal halide lamp, the irradiated area of more than $0.01\;{\mu}mol/s/m^2/nm$ was in the ratio 1.0 : 1.3 : 1.7 : 37.3, respectively. Based on the radiation characteristics and irradiance according to the distance from the light source, LED lights have an estimated economic efficiency if used before and after operation of a metal halide lamp.

Aging-Time Dependence of Color Rendering Index of a LED Lamp for Lighting (조명용 LED 램프의 사용 시간에 따른 연색지수 특성변화)

  • We measured color rendering index(CRI) of a LED lamp for lighting for aging-time. We chose bulb type white LED lamp six samples and halogen lamp one sample and applied 220V, 60Hz to all the samples for 1,000hours at ordinary temperature. The CRI was measured every 20hours and the CRI change of the LED lamp was compared with the halogen lamp's CRI change. As time goes, efficiency of the halogen lamp decreased and the CRI maintained uniformly. The other hand, efficiency of the LED lamp decreased but the CRI increased. The CRI of the LED lamp has been stabilized since 600hours. The CRI change of the LED lamp was analyzed with a spectrum, color coordinate and color temperature.

Comparison of the catch performance between traditional green jig and silver-white jig of squid jigging in Korea (한국 오징어 채낚기의 기존 녹색 낚시와 은백색 낚시의 어획성능 비교)

  • The catch performance of the silver-white jig for automatic jigging machine, developed to improve the effectiveness of LED fishing lamp in catching squid, was compared to that of the conventional green jig. The vessels used in this investigation were Haesong-ho (A-vessel), a training vessel of Gangwon State University and Haengbok-ho (B-vessel), a commercial fishing boat. In the case of the A-vessel, five to eight automatic jigging machines were used in the fishing operation with a 31.3 kW LED fishing lamp in summer. As for the B-vessel, fourteen automatic jigging machines were used with a 43.2 kW LED fishing lamp in autumn and winter. The results showed that the catch performance of the silver-white jig was similar to that of the green jig in the case of the A-vessel (p>0.05). However, in the case of the B-vessel, the catch performance of the silver-white jig was superior to that of the green jig in both winter (p<0.05) and autumn (P<0.001). Based on the catch performance results regarding the B-vessel in autumn, it is expected that the annual income increase that can be earned by using the silver-white jig will be KRW 26,385,000.

Development of White LED Lamp Having High Color Uniformity With Transfer Molding Technology (트랜스퍼 몰딩 방식을 이용한 고 색 균일성 특성을 가지는 백색 LED 램프)

  • Compared to conventional molding technology, the color uniformity of light direction emitted from LED is improved with PCB type lead frame technology in which metal thin film is used and transfer molding technology which makes the density of phosphor uniform by manufacturing high density LED lamp. The light efficiency and the color uniformity of the LED are improved by molding the phosphor layer outside of chip and controlling the thickness of the phosphor layer. CIE x,y difference of LED in major axis is also improved uniformly from 0 to 90 degrees.

  • The radiation characteristics and economic efficiency of high - luminance light - emitting diodes (LEDs), a metal halide lamp, and a halogen lamp were studied to evaluate their potential as an energy-saving light source for fishing lamps. The wavelengths at which irradiance was maximum were 709, 613, 473, 501, 525, 465, 578, and 973 nm for red, orange, blue, peacock blue, green, and white LEDs, the metal halide lamp, and the halogen lamp, respectively. If the irradiance characteristics at 300-1,100 nm wavelengths are set as 100%, the irradiance rates at 381-780 nm were 99-78%, 82%, and 24% for the LEDs, metal halide lamp, and halogen lamp, respectively. The economic efficiency was superior in the order metal halide lamp, halogen lamp, peacock blue LED, and blue LED at 381-780 nm and metal halide lamp, peacock blue LED, blue LED, and halogen lamp at 480-520 nm. Based on the radiation characteristics and economic efficiency evaluated at 480-520 nm, the blue and peacock blue LED light sources can be used as energy-saving light sources for fishing lamps.

A study of violet LED chips and white LED lamps (자색 LED 칩 및 백색 LED 램프에 대한 연구)

  • Conventional LED displays use pixels which consist of red, green and blue LEDs of different operation voltages and degradation characteristics. Thus, the circuits are complicated and the display of each color changes independently with the operated time. In order to solve these drawbacks, an LED chip of a short wavelength and an LED lamp with the mixture of red, green, blue fluorescencers and epoxy on the LED chip were studied. The fluorescencers are excited by the light of the LED chip. The LED chip has an active layer of InGaN, a peak wavelength of 408 nm, a FWHM of 13 nm and the CIE index of (0.198, 0.087). White LED lamps were obtained and the CIE index change was observed with the change of the epoxy amount added to the fluorescencers.

The Optical Characteristics of 240 W High Power LED Fish Luring Lamp (240W급 고출력 LED 집어등의 광학적 특성)

  • This study analyzed characteristics of 240 W high power LED lamps by comparing with those of traditional metal halide lamps. In addition, it analyzed the propriety of LED lamps as a source of light, considering seawater transmission characteristics. When Applying white LED package with the color temperature color temperature of 6500K, a 240W-LED fishing lamp has a characteristics of the luminous angle to be expanded to ${\pm}45^{\circ}$, the illumination change was improved to 0.8, as well as the luminance efficiency was improved to 98.8lm/W. As results of comparison between one 1,500W-metal halide lamp and four 240W-LED lamp with considering a seawater transmission and a luminous efficiency of scotopic vision, the radiant flux of two lamps were almost equal level at 50m depth and the luminous flux was 5% higher LED lamp than metal-halide lamp even if only applying the luminous efficiency of scotopic vision. As the luminous flux of LED lmap was 14% higher than that of metal-halide lamp with applying the luminous efficiency of scotopic vision to radiant flux at 50m depth, so LED fishing lamp was verified to alternative possibility of metal-halide lamp.
