전기방사에 의한 PAN 나노섬유의 제조특성 (Characterization of Polyacrylonitrile Nanofibers by Electrospinning)

  • Polyacrylonitrile nanofibers were fabricated by co-electrospinning technique and were characterized using scanning electron microscopy(SEM). We have evaluated systematically the effects of the important processing parameters affected on the morphology of the formed fibers; voltage, solution concentration and tip to collector distance. PAN nanofibers of about 200 nm${\sim}$2500 nm in diameter were well fabricated at the polymer concentration of 7.5 wt%${\sim}$15 wt%. It has been found that the average diameter of PAN nanofibers increased with increasing the concentration of PAN solution due to the reduction of whipping and splitting for the high viscosity solution. we also found an evidence that the applied voltage is strongly correlated with the distribution of nanofibers and the uniformed size of nanofibers were obtained at electrostatic value of 1 kV/cm.

Designing a Hydro-Structural Ship Model to Experimentally Measure its Vertical Bending and Torsional Vibrations

  • We herein propose a new design procedure of a flexible container ship model where the vertical bending and torsional vibration modes are similar to its prototype. To achieve similarity in torsional vibration mode shapes, the height of the shear center of the model must be located below the bottom hull, similar to an actual container ship with large opening decks. Therefore, we designed a ship model by imparting appropriate stiffness to the hull, using urethane foam without a backbone. We built a container ship model according to this design strategy and validated its dynamic elastic properties using a decay test. We measured wave-induced structural vibrations and present the results of tank experiments in regular and freak waves.

  • Near-field underwater explosion (UNDEX) phenomena were investigated by experiments and numerical simulations. The UNDEX experiments were performed in a water tank using a ship-like model. One kilogram of TNT, one of the most widely used military high explosives, was used for the experiments. Numerical simulations were performed under the same conditions as in the experiments using the commercial software LS-DYNA. Underwater pressures, accelerations, velocities, and strains by shock waves were measured at multiple locations. Further, the bubble pulsation period and the whipping deformations of the ship-like model were explored. The experimental results are presented and examined through comparison with the results obtained from widely used empirical equations and numerical simulations.

  • 본 연구에서는 대파고 파랑 중을 항해하는 선박의 슬래밍 충격에 대한 선체 전체의 동적 탄성응답 해석법을 개발하였다. 선체구조는 전단효과를 고려하는 박판보 유한요소이론을 활용하였으며, 선체 각 단면에 작용하는 유체력은 통상의 선형 운동체 이론에 덧붙여 물체 경계의 비선형성을 고려하여 추정하였다. 즉 매 순간 선체와 파 입자간의 접수 형상을 고려하는 비선형 유체력 추정법을 모멘텀 슬래밍 이론에 근거하여 정식화하였다. 개발된 해석법의 검증을 위해 V형 단면 선형과 S-175 선형 모델을 대상으로 수치해석을 수행하였다. 시간 영역에 있어 각 단면에서의 파면에 대한 상대 변위 성분과 속도 성분들을 계산하였으며, 선체 중앙 단면에서의 굽힘 모멘트 값의 시간이력을 검토하였다.

Improved Functional Characteristics of Whey Protein Hydrolysates in Food Industry

  • This review focuses on the enhanced functional characteristics of enzymatic hydrolysates of whey proteins (WPHs) in food applications compared to intact whey proteins (WPs). WPs are applied in foods as whey protein concentrates (WPCs), whey protein isolates (WPIs), and WPHs. WPs are byproducts of cheese production, used in a wide range of food applications due to their nutritional validity, functional activities, and cost effectiveness. Enzymatic hydrolysis yields improved functional and nutritional benefits in contrast to heat denaturation or native applications. WPHs improve solubility over a wide range of pH, create viscosity through water binding, and promote cohesion, adhesion, and elasticity. WPHs form stronger but more flexible edible films than WPC or WPI. WPHs enhance emulsification, bind fat, and facilitate whipping, compared to intact WPs. Extensive hydrolyzed WPHs with proper heat applications are the best emulsifiers and addition of polysaccharides improves the emulsification ability of WPHs. Also, WPHs improve the sensorial properties like color, flavor, and texture but impart a bitter taste in case where extensive hydrolysis (degree of hydrolysis greater than 8%). It is important to consider the type of enzyme, hydrolysis conditions, and WPHs production method based on the nature of food application.

Slamming충격으로 인한 선체의 구조적 응답해석 (Analysis on the Structual Response of Ship Structures Subjected to Slamming Impact)

  • 본 논문에서 얻은 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) slamming 충격력에 의한 선각의 굽힘 모우멘트와 전단력의 계산은 본 논문의 이론 전개방법에 의해 구하는 것이 Antonides의 적용 방법보다 더 타당하다고 생각된다. 2) 수치계산 예에서 보면 선체 중앙단면에서 가장 큰 sagging moment가 발생하며 Antonides의 결과치 보다 3~5%정도 더 크게 나타났다. 3) 기준진동형의 중첩항 수는 주어진 문제의 특성 및 요구되는 정도에 따라 결정되어야 하므로 고차 진동형에 대한 실측치와 이론치의 비교 분석이 선행되어야 한다고 생각된다.

멥쌀 혼합비율에 따른 유과의 품질특성 (Yukwa Quality on Mixing of Non-waxy Rice to Waxy Rice)

  • 유과는 전통적으로 찹쌀로만 만들어 왔으나 일반계인 신선찰벼 품종의 찹쌀에 통일계 삼강벼 품종의 멥쌀을 $0{\sim}30%$ 혼합하여 유과를 만든 결과 혼합비율20% 수준까지 유과의 팽화율, 아삭아삭한 정도 및 굳기에서 찹쌀로만 만든 유과와 유의적 차이를 보이지 않아 유과 제조시 찹쌀에 멥쌀을 20%까지를 혼합할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 아울러 멥쌀을 혼합한 처리에서 연속식 꽈리치기 장치를 성공적으로 도입할 수 있었으며, 이때 반죽의 유동특성을 개선키 위하여 수분함량을 찹쌀만을 사용할 때보다 높여서 54% 내외가 적당하였다.

  • 정면규칙파중에서 Bow-flare부 충격은 선저충격에 비해서 작용 시간이 길고, 선체 수직운동진폭이 큰 상태이거나, 파고가 큰 입사파가 적용되는 경우에 선체에 작용하는 충격력은 상당히 크며, 파고가 높아지면, 발생하는 모우멘트도 증가한다. 2. Bow-flare부가 큰 선형의 경우에는 선저노출이 일어나지 않더라도 부가질량의 급격한 증가에 따라 상당히 큰 충격력이 작용한다. 3. Deckwetness, 불규칙파중에서의 응답해석, 상대변위를 구할 때 Dynamic Swell-up의 양을 고려한 계산 등의 검토가 요망된다.

Time-domain analysis of nonlinear motion responses and structural loads on ships and offshore structures: development of WISH programs

  • The present paper introduced a computer program, called WISH, which is based on a time-domain Rankine panel method. The WISH has been developed for practical use to predict the linear and nonlinear ship motion and structural loads in waves. The WISH adopts three different levels of seakeeping analysis: linear, weakly-nonlinear and weak-scatterer approaches. Later, WISH-FLEX has been developed to consider hydroelasticity effects on hull-girder structure. This program can solve the springing and whipping problems by coupling between the hydrodynamic and structural problems. More recently this development has been continued to more diverse problems, including the motion responses of multiple adjacent bodies, the effects of seakeeping in ship maneuvering, and the floating-body motion in finite-depth domain with varying bathymetry. This paper introduces a brief theoretical and numerical background of the WISH package, and some validation results. Also several applications to real ships and offshore structures are shown.

Hydro-structural issues in the design of ultra large container ships

  • The structural design of the ships includes two main issues which should be checked carefully, namely the extreme structural response (yielding & buckling) and the fatigue structural response. Even if the corresponding failure modes are fundamentally different, the overall methodologies for their evaluation have many common points. Both issues require application of two main steps: deterministic calculations of hydro-structure interactions for given operating conditions on one side and the statistical post-processing in order to take into account the lifetime operational profile, on the other side. In the case of ultra large ships such as the container ships and in addition to the classical quasi-static type of structural responses the hydroelastic structural response becomes important. This is due to several reasons among which the following are the most important: the increase of the flexibility due to their large dimensions (Lpp close to 400 m) which leads to the lower structural natural frequencies, very large operational speed (> 20 knots) and large bow flare (increased slamming loads). The correct modeling of the hydroelastic ship structural response, and its inclusion into the overall design procedure, is significantly more complex than the evaluation of the quasi static structural response. The present paper gives an overview of the different tools and methods which are used in nowadays practice.
