Signal Processing Algorithm for Analysis of Welding Phenomena (용접현상분석을 위한 신호 처리 알고리즘)

  • 용접공정 해석을 위한 접근방법중에서 우선적으로 결정해야할 사항으로는 비선형적인 요소와 복잡한 물리현상들을 실제적으로 해석하기위한 측정변수의 선정과 이러한 변수를 사용하여 물리적인 현상을 적절히 표현할 수 있는 알고리즘의 개발 등 을 들 수 있다. 최근까지의 연구결과를 바탕으로 해서 측정변수들의 예를 들면 용접 전류(welding current), 아크전압(arc voltage), 음향신호(acoustic signal), 아크 광(arc light) 그리고 온도(temperature)등이 있다. 용접공정을 분석하기 위한 알고 리즘으로는 확률론적 접근(statistical approach), 다양한 실험치를 이용한 인공지능 적 접근(artificial intelligence approach) 그리고 경험치를 바탕으로 인덱스(index) 을 선정하여 이를 직접 사용하는 방법 및 인공지능과 결합된 형태를 이용하는 방법등 이 있다. 또한 용접공정의 특성을 분석하기 위해서는 크게 금속이행모드(metal transfer mode), 아크의 안정성(arc stability) 그리고 용접품질(weld quality) 등을 판별할 수 있는 알고리즘의 개발이 필수적이라 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 용접공정 분석과 관련된 최근까지의 연구동향 및 용접신호의 특성을 좀더 심도있게 분석하기 위해 구축해야 할 필수 요건 등을 소개하고자 하며 이를 사용자가 손쉽게 이용할 수 있는 사용자 인터페이스 프로그램을 개괄적으로 설명하고자 한다.

  • The primary aim of this paper is to develop an automated welding system capable of adapting to variation in the weld seam center in order to allow higher welding speeds and improved welding quality by using a laser vision sensor. The system is designed to compensate for production problems such as pipe ovality, variation in bevel geometry and track misalignment.

  • TIG welding can produce high quality of weld, but has the disadvantage of low productivity and high possibility of lack-of-fusion especially on heavy wall groove welding. In order to overcome such demerits of TIG welding, the hot-wire method which provides pre-heated wire and the use of He-Ar mixture gas as shielding gas were adopted. Through this study, both methods were turned out to be beneficial to the prevention of lack-of-fusion and the increase of productivity and welding speed.

  • In automotive company, a lot of researchers have investigated for the spatterless welding process during last two decades. A spatter influences on the product quality such as strength and surface states. In this paper, a hollow tip is proposed for spatterless process. An optimal size of electrode hole is obtained from a weldability evaluation of each hole diameter. Through the cross section analysis, a phenomenon that molten metal moves in the hole which located between two workpiece is observed, and this makes spatterless welding process even though current is higher. Finally, widely acceptable weld area in lobe curve is obtained by using hollow tip as compare with conventional no hollow tip. In this paper, spatterless resistance spot welding with improvement weldability and productivity is proposed by using hollow tip.

  • The excellent beam quality of high power fiber lasers are commonly used for remote welding applications in body job applications. The Welding speed and productivity is unmatched with any other welding technology including resistance spot welding or traditional laser welding. High tooling cost for clamping and bulky safety enclosures are obstacles which are limiting the use. With the newly developed Laser stitch welding gun we have an integrated clamping in the process tool and the laser welding is shielded in a way that no external enclosure is needed. Operation of this laser welding gun is comparable with resistance spot welding but 2-times faster. Laser stitch welding is faster than spot welding and slower than remote welding. It is a laser welding tool with all the laser benefits like welding of short flanges, weld ability of Ultra High Strength steel, 3 layers welding and Aluminium welding. Together with low energy consumption and minimum operation cost of IPG fiber laser it is a new and sharp tool for economic car body assembly.

  • The Friction Stir Weld (FSW) has been prevailing in the rolling stock manufacturers now a day especially in Europe and Japan, that will be an inevitable welding method in Korean domestic railway industry in the near future. The Welding Institute (TWI) in United Kingdom (UK), who has the right of international patents, invented FSW. To meet the recommendation of Cullen's Report for Ladbroke Grove Rail Inquiry (LGRI) in UK, the FSW is considering for the only alternative welding method to improve the aluminium welding quality, i.e. for improve unzipping defect and crashworthiness on car body in Europe Railways within Railway Safety Research Program.

  • In track a third weakness point is joint part, turnout part, curve part. One of them joint part of rail have been known to the most weak point by loosen of joint bar and fish bolt due to impulse and vibration by wheel contact at times. In addition happen to deformation and failure at end of rail, failure and miniature of ballast gravel. Finally impact between wheel and rail become origin cause of a welded rail, noise and vibration. riding condition deterioration, besides track failure. In the present domestic, Thermite and Gas pressure weldings have been used to continuous welded rail(CWR), however stiffness and confidence in quality is lower than Flash butt welding method. FRW have the excellent capacity, however have a shortcoming large scale of machine and power equipment. Therefore we will introduce Mobile Flash Butt Welder can weld in track.

  • Welding technology plays an important role in the fabrication of structure, and this has led to an increasing attention in the use of high quality advanced welding technology such as power beam welding, friction stir welding, and laser-arc hybrid welding, etc. At the same time, welding can influence various factors in the performance of plant and equipment, and corrosion behaviour of weldment has been one of the major issues for both welding and corrosion research engineers. The aim of this paper is to give a short survey of the recent technical trends of welding and corrosion behaviours including the electrochemical corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, and corrosion fatigue in connection with the welding materials, welding process, and welding fabrication.

  • In order to achieve effective prediction of residual stresses, the series experiment were carried out and the residual stresses were measured using the backgpropagation algorithm from the neural network and the sectional method. Using the experimental results, the optimal control algorithms using a neural network should be developed in order to reduce the effect of the external disturbances on residual stresses during GMA welding processes. The results obtained from the comparison between the measured and calculated results, showed that the neural network based on backpropagation algorithm can be sued in order to control weld quality. This system can not only help to understand the interaction between the process parameters and residual stress, but also, improve the quantity control for welded structures. The development of the system is goal in this study.

  • This paper proposes an regional analytic approach in image data space for radiographic image. Image is segmented into four regions, such as background, thickness, weld area and tube area, due to directional properties. Each region has its own gray level distribution, contrast range and noise property, originated from X-ray project mechanism and electric control system itself. Projection incorrectness and noise influence included on imaging quality is analyzed functionally and statistically. The experimental results shows not only segmental effects, but also visual edge evaluation.
