Titanium hydride를 이용한 TiC분말의 제조 및 특성 (Characteristics of Titanium Carbide Fabricated by Fine Titanium Hydride Powder)

  • This paper deals with the fabrication of titanium carbide using fine titanium hydride. The ratio of $TiH_2$ and C (Activated carbon) was 1:1 (mol) and milled in a planetary ball mill at a ball-to-powder weight ratio of 20:1. Thereafter, TGA was performed at $1400^{\circ}C$ to observe change of weight with milling time. Titanium carbide was obtained by using tempering the milled powders at $1100-1500^{\circ}C$. The microstructures of titanium carbide as well as the change of the lattice parameters and particle size have been studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

풍쇄슬래그 잔골재를 사용한 콘크리트의 공학적 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Engineering Properties of Concrete using Fine Aggregate of PS ball Slag)

  • In this study, the experiment was carried out to investigate and analyze the engineering properties of concrete using fine aggregate of PS bal slagl. The main experimental variables were water/cement ratio 30, 40, 50(%), water content $170kg/m^3$, replacement ratio of slag fine aggregate 0, 25, 50, 75(%) in experiment I and water/cement ratio 30, 40, 50(%), water content 165, 170, 175($kg/m^3$), replacement ratio of fine aggregate of PS ball 0, 50 in experiment II. According to the test results, the principle conclusions are summarized as follows (1) The workability of slag fine aggregate-mixed concrete tends to improve, as the replacement rate increases. (2) The air content of slag fine aggregate-mixed concrete tends to decrease, as the replacement rate increases. (3) The unit volume weight of slag fine aggregate-mixed concrete tends to significantly increase, as the replacement rate increases. (4) The compressive strength of slag fine aggregate-mixed concrete tends to show more increasing propensity, in case the curing period is relatively long, as the replacement rate increases.

화재 안전용 볼밸브의 열·구조 연성해석 (Thermal-structural Coupled Field Analysis for Fire Safety Type Ball Valve)

  • The safety of transporting equipment in a cryogenic condition is one of important problems under the circumstances that the application weight of natural gas is gradually increasing. As a larger disaster may be generated by leakage of oil or gas from valves in case of fire occurrence of a ship, the present research applied a numerical analysis method on thermal stress distribution and deformation, etc. to the design of ball valves satisfying fire safety test's specification(API607) to prevent this. In addition, the present research progressed fire safety tests and compared the test result with numerical analysis results. The Max stress by parts was confirmed through thermal analysis of major parts to evaluate safety. The fire safety test was progressed according to the regulation of API607.

폐경기 여성의 운동프로그램 중재효과 (The Effects of an Exercise Program on Body Composition, Serum lipids, Menopausal Symptoms in Korean Menopausal Women)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find the effects of an exercise program on body composition, serum lipids, and menopausal symptoms in Korean menopausal women. Methods: This research used none qui valent control group pretest-posttest design. The participants were 30 middle-aged women who were divided into two groups, an experimental group (n = 16) who participated in the exercise program and a control group (n = 14). The exercise program was composed of gymnastic-ball exercises with RPE $12{\sim}13$ intensity, 50 minutes' duration and three times a week for 12 weeks from April 1 to June 30, 2008. The dependent variables (body composition, serum lipids, menopause symptoms, self-efficacy, and life satisfaction) were measured before and after exercise program. Results: There were statistically significant difference in weight (F=2.92, p=.049), percent body fat (F=4.22, p=.040), total cholesterol (F=2.63, p= .017) and high density lipoprotein (F=6.74, p= .015) between the two groups. Psychological menopausal symptoms also decreased significantly (F=7.01. p=.014) after the exercise in the experimental group. Conclusions: Regular gymnastic-ball exercises are helpful for menopausal women. They have positive effects not only on body composition and serum lipids but also on the decrease of menopausal symptoms. The results of this study suggest that gymnastic-ball exercise programs are effective in health promotion of Korean middle-aged women, and thus it is necessary to develop exercise programs for women.

볼 밀링에 의한 Al-Ti 계 금속간화합물 생성 거동 (Formation Behaviour Al-Ti Intermetallic Compounds by Ball milling methods)

  • Three mixtures of elemental powders of Al-25at.%Ti, 48at.%Ti and 70at.%Ti were offered to ball milling process for the formation of intermetallic compounds of $Al_3Ti$, AlTi and $Ti_3Al$. Ballmilling or attrition process were carried out at the condition of rotaing speed of 110 or 350 rpm at $10^{-3}$ torr vacuum or argon atmospheres. $Al_3Ti$phases were fully obtained by heat treatment for 1 hors at $600^{\circ}C$ with Al-25at.%Ti composition mixtures milled by 100 hours. The amorphous phase was completely formed at the composition of Al-48at.%Ti mixed powders by milling 100hours at the 50 to 1 weight ratio of ball to powder, and AlTi compounds were obtained by heat treament. In the case of Al-70at%Ti mixed powders milled for 100 hours, $Ti_3Al$ and $Al_3Ti$intermetallic compounds were formed by heat treatment for 1 hour at $600^{\circ}C$. By attrition milling of 350rpm for 10 hours, $Ti_3Al$ phase was formed completley after heat treatment for 1 hour at $600^{\circ}C$.

발포유리 혼합기포 콘크리트의 바닥충격음 차단성능 영향에 관한 연구 (The Effect of Aerated Concrete containing Foam Glass Aggregate on the Floor Impact Sound Insulation)

  • As structure-borne sound, the floor impact sound is one of the serious noises in residential building. Most of heating system applied to the typical Korean residential building is floor heating system which is called ondol. The ondol usually consists of finishing material, mortar with heating coil, light-weight aerated concrete and reinforced concrete. This study focused on the isolation of heavy-weight impact sound and modification of mortar and light-weight aerated concrete. Specifically the glass foam aggregate was added on light-weight aerated concrete. Also, water-cement ratio and amount of cement on mortar were revised. The sound pressure level of heavy-weight impact was measured in reverberation chamber using both bang-machine and impact ball. The size of specimen was 1 m by 1 m. Substitution ratio of glass foam aggregate on light-weight aerated concrete shows relationship with heavy-weight impact sound pressure level. In addition, heavy-weight impact sound pressure level was decreased with increment of water-cement ratio and amount of cement on mortar.

  • In multi-story buildings, heavy-weight floor impact noise propagates through multiple layers. In order to evaluate the influence of structural vibration and propagation, the actual twelve-story building was excited by an impact ball. Sound and vibration responses of each floor was measured using accelerometers and a microphone. Vibration characteristics and its transfer paths were different depending on the excitation floor locations due to differences in the structural characteristics. From the measurement result, transfer characteristics were quantified by statistical energy analysis. It was confirmed that the heavy-weight floor impact noise influence not only adjacent floor. The impact noise transferred and affected multiple layers.

Arc Sprayed부의 Erosion 특성평가 (An evaluation of arc sprayed layer on the erosion property)

  • The characteristics of arc sprayed layer were studied with hardness test and microstructural observation. The erosion resistance of arc sprayed layer was also evaluated using a method of steel ball blasting test which was proposed in this study as a test method for measuring the erosion properties in the impact wear condition. By an impact of the molten droplets on the redeposited substrate, lamella structure was formed which contains laminated oxide layers, fissures, and porosities. As a result of mechanical tests, it was shown that the sprayed specimen showed higher hardness than the substrate, but it resulted in higher erosion rate than the substrate. The poor erosion property obtained with a sprayed coating was considered to be attributable to easy flaking off the the layers laminated with brittle oxide layers.

  • This paper is to investigate the wear behavior of submerged-arc clad materials by the wear test with a ball-on-disk type wear testing machine in air. The specimens were clad with Stoody105 alloy wire on a carbon steel (SM45C) substrate by submerged-arc cladding process under different welding parameters. The wear behavior of the cladding through ball-en-disk test has been studied under the wear load from 5N to 16N and sliding speed from 8cm/s to 35cm/s. The weight of the specimen loss was measured. Scanning electron micrographs of the worn surface show a layer of oxide film formed on the worn surface. Oxidation wear mechanism controls the wear process. The spalling of the oxide is caused by the repeated rubbing fatigue mechanism.
