  • The world's overall need for natural gas (NG) has been growing up fast, especially in the residential sector. The better the estimation of residential NG consumption (RNGC) distribution, the better decision-making for a residential NG policy such as pricing, demand estimation, management options and so on. Approximating the distribution of RNGC is complicated by zero observations in the sample. To deal with the zero observations by allowing a point mass at zero, a mixture model of RNGC distributions is proposed and applied. The RNGC distribution is specified as a mixture of two distributions, one with a point mass at zero and the other with full support on the positive half of the real line. The model is empirically verified for household RNGC survey data collected in Korea. The mixture model can easily capture the common bimodality feature of the RNGC distribution. In addition, when covariates were added to the model, it was found that the probability that a household has non-expenditure significantly varies with some variables. Finally, the goodness-of-fit test suggests that the data are well represented by the mixture model.

  • This study investigates the thermal and mechanical properties of insulation elements through the mixing of epoxy based micro and nano particles. Regarding their thermal properties, differential scanning calorimeter and dynamic mechanical analyser were used to calculate the cross-linking densities for various types of insulation elements. The mechanical properties of the bending strength, the shape and scale parameters, were obtained using the Weibull plot. This study obtained the best results in the scale parameters, at 0.5 phr, for the bending strength of the epoxy nano-and-micro mixture composites.

  • Decision problem called an optimal release policies, after testing a software system in development phase and transfer it to the user, is studied. The applied model of release time exploited infinite non-homogeneous Poisson process. This infinite non-homogeneous Poisson process is a model which reflects the possibility of introducing new faults when correcting or modifying the software. The failure life-cycle distribution used mixture which has various intensity, if the system is complicated. Thus, software release policies which minimize a total average software cost of development and maintenance under the constraint of satisfying a software reliability requirement becomes an optimal release policies. In a numerical example, after trend test applied and estimated the parameters using maximum likelihood estimation of inter-failure time data, estimated software optimal release time.

  • In order to develop electrical insulation materials, epoxy-nanosilica-microsilica mixture composites (ENMC) was synthesized, and mechanical properties such as their tensile and flexural strength, and AC insulation breakdown strength were investigated. Properties of mechanical strength and AC insulation breakdown strength are analyzed as scale and shape parameter with respect to weibull plot. Their tensile and flexural strength, AC insulation breakdown strength were compared original epoxy or EMC to ENMC. The 4 phr nano-silica addition and the 65 wt% micron-silica mixture composite (ENMC) was found to have the highest tensile and flexural strength. In the tensile strength was improved 29%, and flexural strength was improved 60.9% higher than those of the original epoxy. In the insulation breakdown strength, ENMC_4 phr was improved 17% and ENMC_5 phr was improved 15.8% higher than those of the EMC.

  • Nano particles (10nm $SiO_2$) were silane-treated in order to modify the surface characteristics in a epoxy nanocomposite. Then, micro particles ($3{\mu}m$ SiO2) were poured into the epoxy nanocomposite using various mixing process and epoxy/micro-and-nanomixed composites (EMNC) were prepared. The thermal (Tg) and mechanical (tensile and flexural strength) properties were measured by DSC, DMA and UTM and the data was estimated by Weibull plot.

  • From a mixture distribution of the score random variable for credit evaluation, there are many methods of estimating optimal thresholds. Most the research news is based on the assumption of normal distributions. In this paper, we extend non-normal distributions such as Weibull, Logistic and Gamma distributions to estimate an optimal threshold by using a hypotheses test method and other methods maximizing the total accuracy and the true rate. The type I and II errors are obtained and compared with their sums. Finally we discuss their e ciency and derive conclusions for non-normal distributions.

  • A epoxy/multilayered silicate nanocomposite was prepared by a new AC electric application method and micro silica particle was poured into the nanocomposite in order to prepare epoxy/micro-and-nano- mixed composites (EMNC). Electric insulation breakdown strength was measured in a sphere-sphere electrode system designed for the prevention of edge breakdown and the data were estimated by Weibull plot. As the exfoliated silicate nano-plates were homogeniously dispersed in the micro silica particles, the insulation property was higher.
